Thanks for posting your videos, they help me a lot. I'm 67 and starting again from scratch after a pause of about 40 years...

Genuinely appreciate you guys sharing your stuff, shows a level of self awareness / confidence / competence that very few have. Never easy putting your stuff out on the internet and leaving commenting turned on!

Thank you so much, Daniel! This is truly such a wonderful comment to receive, and reaffirms that we aren't suffering from Dunning-Kruger syndrome, at least! Occasionally we get a troll in our comments, but overwhelmingly our comments are positive and come from like-minded people, which means we must be doing something right! And it is hard (for me, Zoe, especially) to keep putting ourselves out there, but its also important to have a thick skin in life, otherwise we will be beset and beaten by even the smallest criticisms and challenges. Lovely to hear from you!

I am so glad I found this subscription and these videos. I so relate to the philosophies that you give. And your instructional videos speak to me and I use a lot of these in my Dojo and teach it to my students. Great respect Sensei.

Ah, what a special comment! Thank you so much for the truly lovely words, Andrew - your support means the world to us, and we are so happy that we can give back to Goju Ryu practitioners all over the world 🗺

Love the basics from cat stance, first time I have ever seen this. This is the kind of basics that sport karate threw away.

Honestly, the worst thing to happen to karate (in my opinion, not Ché's) is sport karate. It introduced the worst elements of sport (ego, money, medals, ableism) and didn't even help the style grow. We didn't get a single sign-up from people watching karate in the Olympics, but every time there is a new season of Cobra Kai, our dojo grows. There's a reason the old founders were grumbling about it when it started - I think they would be dismayed to see it now.

Good old fashioned dojo pounding, spent hours and hours on that back in the day, putting the Zen into Zenkutsudachi

"Putting the Zen into Zenkutsudachi" should be on a shirt! Sometimes we need to simplify our lives - there's nothing like physical repetition to calm the mind and build the spirit 💪

Thank you Sensei Che, excellent exercise San Bon Kumite, to practice basic technique, strengthen the body, improve positions (dachis). Hugs and greetings to all your family. Sergio from Argentina.🥋

Methinks, new camera sucks. It looks like a mist. Maybe there is some mist in that time of the day? Or lenses should be cleared. On a positive note, no brian was harmed in three steps during this performance. :o)

Think it was Che sweat that turned the dojo into a steam room 😅. PS well done Sensei on be able to continue teaching while doing all that physical work

We're getting the hang of the new camera, tweaking some settings as we go! Yes, Brian finally had a reprieve (and yet he still keeps coming back for more lol)

Are there any basic drills where you simply move from one stance to another through all the stances, only "basic" footwork?
@Burvedys Жыл бұрын
It's called tachi-gata based on fukyu-gata footwork. But not all Goju-ryu schools practice it. Mine from Jundokan does, including both fukyu.

Couldn't have answered it better myself! We try do these drills with the kids - their footwork isn't great, but we have to start somewhere, and we're always planting seeds for the future :)
