I play both, and I like them both. XV is my ideal Dragon Ball game and FighterZ is an excellent fighting game. XV has a slight disadvantage in terms if graphics as their model is suffers from an odd shine to it. FighterZ is so damn beautiful thanks to Arcsys' godly work, and the only thing I dislike about it is the ridiculous amount of dirt whenever characters jump(something they used in Guiltygear) If you just play one of those, be sure to try the other. They're both worth it.

So the amount of strength it takes to jump highly makes sense with the dirt they destroy in the process. As for Videl, since it is Buu Saga Videl, she is in her peak of strength here so it makes sense that dirt comes off when she jumps too.

However, FighterZ is so awesome to play, you truly feel like you are the character and are wielding true power. T.K S I think he meant that the reason why the characters look like that is so that the models, especially because in xenoverse 2, you can customized a character, while in dbfz it has a better artstyle because the battle stage is linear and very updated to the current year technology, the style of dbfz fighting is comparable to the likes of tekken, street fighter and such, making it more competitive to its style. Meanwhile xv2 is an open ground fighter which makes it a more casual game, and imo i think it suits the dbz fighting well, being able to fly around your opponent and roam the area freely. So in all honesty theyre two different style of fighting games so comparing them doesnt really make sense.

Yes, this is the only limitation to Arc System games. Their approach to animations (which are mostly hand drawn) makes hard to do alternative skins for characters because they would have to rework all the animation again for the other skins. This too explains why they don't have in-game damage models as the fight progresses, they generally reserve damaged models for cutscenes where you finish the match with a special move.

@@mithril5155 Yes they are, but here is the catch, they have to hand draw all the animations and camera angles to adjust to each model (which is a pain the ass), meaning that the studio can't simply copy and paste to the same character with largely different attires without having to tweak all over again. This is what lead them to use different colors instead of different clothes/attires. It's not impossible to them to do different costumes but it is too much work compared to your normal 3D fighting games. I'd recommend you watching the Off Camera Secrets of Dragon Ball FighterZ from Boundary Break, and Arc System Works GDC video about their in-game models.

Xenoverse 2 will have a slight nostalgia for me. Like when as a kid I used to see Dragon ball, I always imagined myself to be a Saiyan fighting alongside Goku. Which XV2 clearly provides. With the SSJ Blus & Blue ( Evolved) in the update arsenal, it's even more fun. Clearly gives the chills to be a comapnion of Goku & Vegeta & of all the DB series. Though FighterZ does more justice on the cutscenes though!!

I don’t think these 2 games should be compared tbh. I mean it’s just a matter of liking 2D or 3D style gameplay. Its true that fighterz has the ultimate anime graphics but xenoverse 2 has that open field when fighting(and the cac,story,costumization) which imo represents a true DBZ game,however fighterz is just perfect for those who want a good competetive,2D style gameplay that require more skill. Personally I hope xenoverse 3 has the same anime graphics and with some gameplay changes it would be the ultimate DBZ game.

I haven't seen a lot of Xenoverse, but from what I have seen of UI, I like him in FighterZ more, in FighterZ when you hit that counter, he just slides into your DMs like he's not even trying, in Xenoverse you can see him put forth effort and for a skill that is supposed to be "you automatically dodge everything without having to think about it" I like when it feels like he's actually using the technique (also godly display looks way different in XV than FighterZ)

I love both games, although I didn’t play Fighter z yet from what I seen it looks amazing! The one only thing is that in Fighter Z with the story finishers, Goku’s chi wasn’t destroyed or missing like in the story or XV2. Like the fight with Vegeta, when they did the iconic Galick Gun vs. Kamahameha, Goku should have been shirtless, same for when he gave the last blast to Freiza. Other than that the gameplay looks amazing along with the details 👍

I think X2 did a great job with UI Goku! However gotta say dbfz Goku is so clean, smooth and the animations feel way more powerful then X2. Like the finishers are not even comparable X2 just adds the original kamaha while dbfz boosts it's 5x

i have xenoverse 2, but i liked the other games and each game has its purpose, xenoverse is to create you characther of dragon ball universe with the transformations and the attacks you want, dbz kakarot is for you remember of the best moments with dbz and the fighterz even though 2d has art style and very good animations, i think xenoverse 2 fulfilled its purpose of creating your character and a 3d fighting game

Everyone is comparing a 2016 game to a 2018 game. Xenoverse 2 was very limited as well being fully open 3D. They had to optimize for all systems. That doesn’t mean it looks better than fighterZ, but it has a reason to look worse.

The one thing XV2 does really good is the battle damaged costumes for characters. For instance during the Frieza vs Goku fight in Namek. You can see the anime accurate battle damaged Goku which I really like in Dbz games. The First game to do so was Budokai 1. But as a 2016 game Dbz XV2 still really does hold up real good. Just waiting for the ultimate comparison between Dbz XV2, Fighter Z and Tenkaichi 4.
