Ssj3 is not the way to go brother, that transformation burns through energy a lot faster than all his other transformations. Goku states this fact during the majin buu saga. And on a side note I think about the transformation as a skill tree. The ssj transformations that we know and love from Z are one set of transformations and the godki are a separate branch. The red haired transformations would be like the base form and SSBlue would be the godki version of SSJ1

Ok, you may have been told this a lot by now, but you seem quite hung up on it. SSJ God is just base form Goku having tapped into God Ki. God Ki is more powerful overall and has better control. Blue is stacking Super Saiyan ontop of that. Blue requires more stamina and is a little slower, but it's not significant enough to bother going God most of the time. And because of the borderline perfect the Ki control the form provides, Goku can output as much or as little power as he likes to match his opponent, which is why Krillin, Gohan and 17 could keep up. As for SSJ3, it's not strong enough to matter with any relevant opponents, and is too draining to maintain for a long time, so again, zero reason to use it. That's why Vegeta never bothered to learn it, especially after getting God Ki.

Imo the whole reason he doesn't go Super Saiyan 3 or God anymore is because there's no point. If he's fighting someone in base and needs a boost, he'll go Super Saiyan. If he isn't beating them with that, then Super Saiyan 3 wouldn't beat it either as it's not a large enough boost in power. The same logic goes for God/Blue.

So .. the thing about using super saiyan blue instead of super saiyan god. We know that simple transformations (before achieving god) boosts the power levels like when goku turned super sayiyan his power multiplied 50 times but with super saiyan blue ... he can not only amplify the god form but can also control all the harnessed ki so precisely that he can fight with krillin with power almost similar to him (he hasn't perfected it yet so he's not too precise here) and can fight vegeta at full power too.

So to break down the forms on simple terms, Red is God Ki unlocked (Super Saiyan God) Blue is like adding Super Saiyan ONTOP of God-Ki (red) So Blue is Red but Super Saiyan. Kaio Ken on top of that multiplies it just that much more. As for the Super Saiyan 3 being "better than SS2" its just not. There are different give and takes based on the super saiyan form they use. SS1 was a massive powerup, SS2 added another massive powerup ontop, and SS3 just basically added a "Physical" powerup so yeah SS3 may seem like it should be "better" but its actually just "physically stronger" so yeah he punches harder, but his Kahmehameha is weaker than SS2 and his Ki Blasts are weaker than SS2. Also SS3 using an IMMENSE amount of energy compared to SS2 for not that much more of a powerup. Its basically like Trunks Buff Ass form Vegita hates a lot. So yeah them using SSG(red) more would be dope but it also doesnt make sense to use it if SSB(blue) exists. Its like being hard stuck SS1 when you know you can use SS2, why wouldn't you?

Blue is full control of all God Ki available. Red is God ki, but without the control. Red is leaking large amounts of ki, ki that you don't lose by going blue, even though blue is more taxing on your stamina. Red is like SS1 in that regard, and blue is like SS ascended, where they have control of strength, speed, and ki. The amount of ki lost by SS transformation is far less than red though, so sometimes it is more beneficial to go SS than blue, if you have already gauged your opponent's speed and strength, and you go for a short boost to eliminate them. As for SS3, it wastes ki and stamina faster than all other forms, and may not even give the strength of red.

It's clearly not, as even Vegeta spurns that form. Vegeta is far more intelligent and tactical than Goku. Hey @DonTownsend, the dragon ball super manga and anime are different, and the way super saiyan god is treated in each is different. In the manga, super saiyan god (or ssg as I will refer to it from now on) is treated as an actual transformation, like super saiyan 1, and not as a base form power-up, so in the manga Goku and Vegeta transforms into ssg a lot. In the anime, however, ssg is treated more as a base form power up (when the ssg form went away in the battle of gods movie and arc, it made his base form super strong, which is why Goku, in super saiyan, is still able to contend with beerus in the anime continuity) and its kinda unclear if Goku can transform back into the form, until this arc happened, which finally brought back the ssg form back for the anime continuity. Also, as a side note, I agree that they should've shown us other forms more often, specifically super saiyan 3 (not ssg because it was reintroduced in this arc), but ssb (super saiyan blue) is the definitive form of dragon ball super, for now at least, and animating super saiyan 3 is harder than doing ssb, which is just super saiyan with blue hair dye, or super saiyan 1 and 2...

In the Dragon Ball Universe combination attacks like the (cringe) "Triangle Danger Beam" gets multiplied in power a lot. Which means that Goku and Vegeta actually needed Blue and a combination attack of their own to overpower them. God wouldn't have been enough so it makes perfect sense.

Super Saiyan God (red hair form) was actually achieved through the ritual, which is why it's only seen briefly for the first time when the transformation was introduced back in the Battle of Gods movie. The only other time Goku used the god (red hair form) is during the DBS Broly movie. Vegeta is the only other Saiyan to use the god (red hair form) in DBS Broly movie. So SSJ God blue hair is the evolution to the SSJ God red hair.
