I’m a little late on this but I’ll say how I feel about this, keep in mind I’m looking at it from an animation point of view and I am not looking at the story. So as for the opening scene, I thought it was handled pretty good. The establishing shots of the buildings and the echoing voice of the kid was a nice touch, making the audience feel a little bit confused as well as scared. The art with Goku Black chocking the kid was decent, but there was a few times the art was messy, however the expressions of the characters were perfect. You could see the fear in the kids eyes as his breath was slowly fading away, while black was given a sinister look on his face. Great stuff so far. As for the fight (I’m skipping a head as there isn’t much to talk about in between the beginning and fight scene), it begins with great art and effects work as black sends an energy blast straight at gohan, also showing some pretty good smoke effects as well. As Goku Black transforms, there is some nice aura effects and his hair spiking up and changing looked pretty good. We got some decent choreography as black chargers gohan and starts to attack, the animation is rather limited but the artwork is still pretty decent. The fight continues after the scuffle and at 4:43 there is some pretty stiff animation, it doesn’t look all that good, thankfully it’s followed up by a nice impact frame as gohan grabs blacks fist, however, blacks clothing ripping off wasn’t done very well and looked a little too stiff. We get another nice impact frame and effects work when black fires a beam, not much to complain about there, and the fight goes on, but the action still coming off a little too stiff. We get some nice background animation as gohan and black clash at high speeds, with some nice affects work too. Choreography and animation improve substantially at 5:24 as black does some stunning looking punches and kicks, and has some nice angles too. The kick gohan delivers afterwords is nicely done with the kick having good weight and impact behind it, and as the characters once again movie into a rapid punching section, it is handled very well, as yes it is limited but it has plenty of good frames, art, and effects during the clash. There is not much to say afterwards, the transformations were done pretty good and that’s about all I really need to say. Overall, this was a very nice animation, it had its fair share of issues but shows lots of potential. If you so happen to be reading this, then I want you to know that I look forward to what you have in stored for next animation. I want you and your team to improve and move onto bigger and better things.
