​@@TheIrishRushin technically, they were experiencing ever increasing time dilation as their rate of movement increases over time and Frieza ended up reaching 100 times the power level of his second form. Based on Goku's explanation of how his Kaioken works: Power levels are linear(gravity training is my main evidence) but the nature of speed holds an irrational 1:1 ratio with growth of said power level(normally, in real life, its's a square root type of thing where half the speed requires 1/4rth the power or double the speed requires 4 times the power dp 20 times faster normally requires 400 times the power). I feel like I still wouldn't be understood even if I made a detailed video with footage from the show broken down with clear formula and "credible sources." If you trust me on this, Frieza's 120 million power is 100 times faster than his 1.2 million power level but it somewhat falls apart with Goku being at 150 million as a Super Saiyan, since that means Goku is 25% faster than Frieza. Yet that speed difference can be argued as what was presented in the later parts of their fight. Anyhow, moving at 100 times faster than he was when first transformed into his second form, that 5 minutes would play out 100 times longer due to the perspective of their exchange being slowed down enough for normal people to see nearly every detail as we the audience saw it. These guys burned 8.3 hours within 5 minutes. That's more than the 9 episodes at the 22 minutes a piece so we still only got to see about 1/3rd the action that can be pulled off moving at 100 times normal speed... Just my head canon.

I still remember how stoked I was at age like 7-9 when my mother would bring me to the same comic store every week or so to buy these VHS tapes in order so I could watch this fight. Easily one of the best anime fights of all time, if not the best ever. So many memorable lines, fight moments, the ending, the kaioken x20, and the super saiyain transformation of course.

21:35 I had totally forgotten when Frieza lifted that MASSIVE boulder (things more like a f’ing island) without even breaking a sweat. Then a bit longer after, he reveals his not even using a small portion of his strength, making it even more ridiculous. My god this fight is so astonishingly good it’s not even close, even down to the animation, ya know, other then a small portion of the animation during the SSJ battle which most people agree with. I could watch this daily for the rest of my short life.

45:54 this right here has got to be the start of one of the scariest moments in all of Dragonball, especially if you watched from the beginning of the first series. Goku, no matter what the odds are, has always felt confident, in control, sure he could handle it even in situations where he knew he wasn't stronger than his opponent. This may be the first moment in the entire series where Goku looks at his opponent, gives a plaintive, almost grieving smile, and says "...what if I really can't beat this guy?" You know shit has gone south when a fighter as tough as Goku shows that kind of fear--no, DREAD, which is far worse. Yeah, he regains his confidence not long after, and wins eventually, but the fact that Frieza was able to briefly shake his resolve to the core demonstrates what a threat the guy really was.

A decent time ago I watched dbz Kai on ifc channel regular cable, they would run old anime on Saturday nights. The version they played the sound track was heavy metal, like early 2000’s metal, not the too intense stuff. But I have never seen that version again. I’ve even wrote to ifc to find out what version of dbz they aired. It was around 2011-2012
