I think he worded it bad. What he probably meant is that he made the concept for this two years prior posting it. I dunno exactly what the meaning was, but as the animator of this, I can tell you that the whole animation and coloring took us half a year. Roughly 6 months.

People need to get new material for Goku, everyone is focusing on the bad dad joke that TFS started so many years ago, but that's really inaccurate if you look more closely at the original source material, while I think that its true that Goku could have been a better dad, the choices he had to make were not easy, literally the first action he does in Dragon Ball Z after his son gets kidnapped, is to team up with a former villain just to get a chance to get his son back, and because of him being naive he got wrecked by Raditz and out of options he sacrificed himself for his son, then during the saiyan arc he got just in time to save his son from Nappa, and he didn't intend to involve Gohan in his fight against Vegeta as he told him and Krillin to leave but they were the ones who came back to help, then during the Namek saga he arrived in time to save Gohan from Recoome and the rest of the Ginyu force, and he also woke up from his recovery in time when things started getting really bad with Freeza to save his son and best friend, and then when the planet was set to blow up he did everything in his power to protect his son and yelled at him to find Bulma and get off planet willing to sacrifice himself again, and while I do admit that it was selfish of him to stay in Yardrat when his son tried to wish him back, he was ultimately trying to think long term as without the instant transmission technique a lot of things would have turned out worse than they were, the only part where Goku can arguably be proved to be a " bad father" was when he forced Gohan to fight Cell and then even gave Cell a Senzu Bean, but again he was trying to think long term when he did this as if Goku ever died then he wanted his son to basically take over in keeping the peace, and when he chose to stay dead for 7 years it was because everyone that came to Earth had truly been after him specifically, and the whole reason why the planet was able to stay safe for those 7 years was precisely because he wasn't around, as literally the 1 day he was allowed to come back the worst situation happened with Buu and stuff, so he was not wrong in him basically saying that he always drew trouble around him, but despite all of this you can see from Gohan and Goten's interactions with him, that they like having Goku around because he's a fun and unpredictable guy, they only wish that he was more serious and responsible as its the things that all of his family and friends asks for.
