About two months ago I started basing my intervals off heart rate. I run until my HR hits 140ish BPM and then I walk until it comes down to 125bpm. It has allowed me to get through a 50k and all of my longruns without feeling sick. I am finally able to eat well on breaks and it has not hurt my overall pace.

Yup walk run is amazing. I could run the whole time but my effort would be much harder. I did try hr but found myself pushing too hard as well but I do like the start running when it gets down to 125
