I agree 100% with everything you said and I get it why so many influencers are commenting on Matt Choi's debacle at the NYC Marathon. The thing is we know who Matt Choi is given his track record, but what amazes me is no one is talking about the failure and hypocrisy of the NYRR and NYC Marathon officials. They did absolutely nothing as they allowed Matt's crew to follow him on the course. The CEO of Runna even ran with him and should know better. I'm more disappointed with NYRR and NYC Marathon officials...

I was volunteering the 2024 NYRR RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon. Everyone who checked in their packages were waiting outside of the fence to wait on the volunteers to hand them packages. He just jumped off the fence and looked for his own package. Come on, you have to follow all the rules! That’s called Discipline!

Qotd: Mostly I've gone without listening to anything. Lately I've had a hard time with any runs over an hour and I've tried podcasts. Maybe they help a little bit sometimes, like when I'm trying to run extra slowly. As for Choi, I've never watched any of his videos and I don't know if I'd even heard of him until now, lots of guys called Matt around. It sounds like I haven't missed anything. All of this publicity probably helps him when it's all said and done. Glad to hear that you're getting the training done and the treadmill is working out for you!

@GokuRunnerАй бұрын
You can get anywhere with a hi-vis vest so the volunteers on course probably thought they were official
@Reckoning2943Ай бұрын
Once is a mistake, twice is a choice. He did this multiple times. He knows it’s not right, hence the hi-vis vests to not have them dragged off course.

Matt Choi or Goku Runner? I’m going to choose Jeremy aka Goku Runner all the time. I get inspired by Jeremy’s video and running journey. Matt Choi has his niche audience. I can’t relate to Matt Choi because he seems to be about himself. Running a full marathon is hard work and not easy for people like me. Thus I like Jeremy’s videos because he shows how difficult running is but Jeremy keeps going. Matt Choi is a fast runner and running for him seems effortless.

This was my first ever marathon, and being part of the largest recorded Marathon was magical. I have drawn a lot of motivation from running KZbin content creators like you, Matt, and others. Really bummed to hear about his continued undisciplined actions in his pursuit of generating content. It's incredibly disappointing because there are only a few people of color in this online space, so this is even worse. Hope Matt grows from this.

So he brought 2 reporters for him on the road... not recording himself(Manny youtubers)...It's some rare for KZbinr to bring others... So he must listen to others... But maybe he deserve one more chance to change his behavior, if he promise to comply the rule.

Matt was a big motivation for me to get into running. He's not a 'typical' runner and I appreciate his content, specifically related to strength training to help runners. He made a mistake, but I see so much hate for him, I find it sad really. I think his positive impacts on the running community far outweigh this e-bike incident. But I think I'm in a minority.

I mean if it was one incident sure. Bib muling at Houston, Austin E-bike crew was a mistake and then he does it again at the New York Marathon. It's just too many incidents that he keeps having to apologize for.
