From Gokyo you should trek through Chola pass to Base camp, that completes a wonderful experience. I would recommend early September.

I am so torn on which trek to take. Annapurna Circuit, Gokyo Ri or Three Passes. Each seems so different. Local culture and mountain scenery are what I am looking for. This seemed to have both. Then there is Mustang! Damn. I need more time and money.

So you hiked to Gokyo and back the same route. Why? With the same time in your hands you could have walked Namche - Tengpoche - Phortse - east side to Nha - Gokyo - Renjo La - Thame - Namche. Much more interesting with real villages, several gompas etc etc.

Yes, its possible to do in December. Actually, it is the best time to go to Gokyo if you don't mind a bit more colder temperature :)

This area hotel people are not good for porter..They gave best respect to foreigner and guide. They don't give even a single pot of black tea for porter and they didn't allow porter to enter a hotel and dining hall. people of this area are very worst for porter..Please learn how to respect porter from Annapurna region

It would be much more interesting to go up via Tengpoche and come down via Renjo La and Thame. This is boring, no real villages, no monasteries.
