It's crazy that the Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis during the 1990/'91 years retained the original shape and engine, but had the dash that would become of the early second generation models.

I bought one in Dec 2021 a 1995 mercury grand marquis LS and I love it. It has the optional digital dash in mine and air bag suspension as well and my air bags and compressor still works also. I've owned a 1988 lincoln town car it was loaded but for the sun roof that car also had the digital dash and auto high beams and auto rear view mirror. I wish I never sold that lincoln I met up with the new owners I sold it to. Two years later at a job site and they stripped it and entered it into demolition derby I was so f*cking pissed

Good job on finding and keeping it in that condition, gorgeous car.

I know this video was posted a while ago , but just wondering how it has held up over the past 3 years. It's a great car and you were fortunate to have found it in such great condition. Usually the door handle straps are broken by now, and the headliner is falling down, and the vinyl top is damaged, etc. etc. but this car is PERFECT !! I love the quiet ride, and the upholestery looks so comfy like a living room sofa !! I love these big old American cars, soon we may not be able to find them any more. I have an older Buick Lesabre in mint condition, and I love it. I have also had old Mercury Marquis in the past and it was great except for carburetor problems, so I had to get rid of it. Hope you are still enjoying your beautiful car !!!
@Golbez19919 жыл бұрын
+Liberty Justice Thanks for your comment! Car is still near mint. Had one small dent, kickdown had to be replaced. Both front windows' motors and regulators have been replaced. Radio has been repaired using spare parts from an identical prenium Ford radio (that wasn't easy), little wear and tear on the steering wheel, and it's now at 75,000 km. Spark plugs have been changed too. Little maintenance for a car that age. Still my daily driver during the summer, in storage for the winter. I plan to keep it for a long time unless something big happens (such as transmission or engine problems) other than that the beast is still a head turner whereever I go. So yeah, I still enjoy every minute of it!

It's Quebec City car. And it's actually midnight blue, the video doesn't show very well the car's beauty :D
@B3burner6 жыл бұрын
Okay, thanks. I see I was only 144 statute miles off on a straight line. Not bad for a guy from California, who knows nothing about Canada! And yeah, midnight blue is a beautiful color. I actually like the idea of that color on that car, better than black. But as you guessed, it was hard for me to tell. Even in high noon direct sunlight, it might have been hard to tell. But nevertheless, very nice car.
@B3burner6 жыл бұрын
If I could own four of these side-by-side in my driveway, I would choose the following four colors: 1. Burgundy, 2. Navy or Midnight Blue, 3. Black, & 4. White. Those four strikingly decisive colors say it all. Sadly though, too many of these are in either beige/tan or banana yellow. I can almost smell the Bengay when I see these in those God-awful colors. What a terrible thing to do to a poor, defenseless Marquis.
@STARDRIVE11 жыл бұрын
Do these still comply with the pre 1983 5mph bumper standard? I wonder, since the '88 facelift brought new bumpers.... Ford didn't downgrade its bumpers to the 2.5mph standard immediately.
@B3burner6 жыл бұрын
Which of these cars (of the 88-91 vintage), had the “horizontal bar” speedometer (like yours)?, versus the “rotational square” speedometers I’ve seen on others? I don’t know the delineation, but I do like the horizontal look of yours better. It goes better with the linear horizontal look of the dash panel of the car.
@Golbez19916 жыл бұрын
The horizontal speedometer started in 1990, by borrowing the Town Car's dashboard and steering wheel, replacing the old square gauges. It remained there until an interior redesign in 1995.
@B3burner6 жыл бұрын
Cool! Thanks for explaining. Yeah, I like the horizontal so much better. The square one looks ghetto and jankie in comparison. And I also like the black numbers on the brushed aluminum silver background. Was that universal, or some of them had the more traditional white numbers on a black background?

That's a car for the Canadian market. We didn't have the 85 mph mandated speedos like in the U.S., although a lot of them kept them but in kilometers (140 kph). This one though displays up to 200 kph with a small mph conversion down below.
