Thanks for that 😀. Yeah I must admit I do find it strange how some clips seem to get huge numbers of view's and I'm not sure why, especially in regards to those fake gold videos from Indonesia or somewhere, where they show those huge painted gold rocks and pretend they're gold 😅. Sadly they're misleading people and making it look like gold is easy to find, which it isn't. But never mind. Cheers 🤠.

Very nice gold mate. There are a few stories about the Palmer I have heard, both of riches but one with a bad ending. 2 lucky diggers removed 1200 ounces from 1 crevasse in a tributary. Extremely lucky. Another successful miner found his fortune, but was trapped by the wet season and starved to death. They found many hundreds of ounces of nuggets in his swag.
@stevegraf9276
@stevegraf9276 7 ай бұрын
Wow that's incredible stuff. There must of been quite a lot of shocking tragedies happen over the years up there. One thing's for sure I certainly wouldn't mind coming across one of those lost swags full of nuggets through! Cheers 🤠.

@@stevegraf9276 fairly sure the gold police removed his carcass. No doubt there would be lost cashes of gold from other miners misfortunes.

Hi Steve , love watching you put in an amazing effort and time into sharing your adventures with us. Can agree about covering a few kilometres on foot to try find new areas that haven’t been so badly hammered. Sorry to ask and if you’ve already answered , what is it with your pick ? Zippies and wire on the handle?
@stevegraf9276
@stevegraf9276 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for that. In regards to the pick handle, I was trying to lever up a large boulder and suddenly the handle split down the shaft so rather than just get rid of it straight away I put some cable ties tightly around it to hold it together and it worked perfectly. So I got a bit more use out of it 👍. Cheers 😀

Great video as always Steve. A bit of a shock that NQ downpour, but summer time brings them on. I like your older model Toyota Prado, they were very reliable that model, is yours petrol or diesel ?The gold just keeps coming up there, but hard to get access.keep the videos coming mate.Cheers Greg

Hi Greg, thanks for that, my Prado is a petrol 1999 model and yeah they're a great vehicle. It's got about 327000 Kms on the clock and so far still going good 🤞. Hopefully it continues. Cheers 🤠.

Ha ha funny yeah I haven't been for a hunt for a while so you do start to get withdrawal symptoms 😃. It certainly adds a bit more interest to the area when there's some wildlife around. I always love to see any kind of creatures out in the bush, except maybe not so much the snakes 👍😀.

Hi Steve I have just recently discovered your vids on here and i'm very much liking them. It's great to see you're still using the older detector. It looks like a 4500/5000 with the big NF coil.. I have the same set up, but i am struggling to find anything with the big coil. Would you be willing to share your settings when running this coil? Please don't say it varies from area to area, i would love to know what the settings are for where you are detecting in this video. Looking forward to your next vid. Keep up the good work.

Hi Joe, I can't remember what all the settings are off hand because I very seldom ever change them. But I'll get my detector out later and have look and then I'll get back to you with the settings, cheers.

Thanks, I have a season pass on palmerville station so I just go anywhere within the pass boundaries. I use the trilobite app to see where leases are etc, but be careful if using that app because if you download a satellite image map onto it then it will often drop out and not work again until you're back in mobile or WiFi reception. Seems ok if you don't download any maps. Cheers 😃.

Digging up that many nuggets must get ordinary for you mate?, i know its not virgin ground but it is in comparison to the flogged grounds of the southern goldfields, must be nice when u hear a deeper target knowing its almost a sure thing as opposed to the rust nuggets we encounter, sure there is still gold on every field its just getting harder to find in certain fields!!!
@stevegraf9276
@stevegraf9276 7 ай бұрын
Hi, yeah I know exactly what you mean, it can get depressing just digging lots of junk all the time. It's getting a lot harder to find any virgin ground these days that's why I like to try and go as remote as possible but even in those areas it can still be hard to find where people haven't been. But it's certainly exciting if or when you do. I still get a buzz out of finding any gold even those tiny bits. It never gets boring if there's some yellow no matter how small. But I totally understand where you're coming from. Best of luck to you, hopefully you'll find a nice patch cheers 😀.

See any boars in those creeks during your travels?
@stevegraf9276
@stevegraf9276 7 ай бұрын
Yeah I've seen a few large ones over the period but two in particular that I can recall were especially big, probably the biggest I've ever seen. If you haven't watched my last year's videos, in one of them I found a dead boar with a nice set of tusk's which I cleaned up and kept. Pretty good ones 👍.
@serverlan763
@serverlan763 7 ай бұрын
I did watch you other videos after commenting and saw the boar. That country looks a lot like the area I hunt in the NT with those rocky slopes with lots of quartz. You motivated to bite the bullet and buy a SDC2300 and get of my ass and start looking for gold. I been watching your videos since you and your brother were young blokes. I seen the one of your guys bow hunting the in Urewera. I'm a kiwi too and about your age aswell. I live in Darwin now@@stevegraf9276

What settings do you run mostly..
@stevegraf9276
@stevegraf9276 7 ай бұрын
I just leave mine always on 'Fine Gold' and I pretty much never change it. I can't remember all the settings off hand because I haven't checked them for so long. I'll have to have a look. The only setting I will sometimes vary is the gain. But not often. Over in WA the ground can be noisier at times because there's more iron stone but there's not so much up in North Queensland. Still plenty of hot rocks and red clay though. Cheers 😀.

Cheers…..I’m in north qld…going up to Palmer later in the year…..worked there in 78..79..on tin….one spot in particular want to get to….been doing a bit around here,mostly rainforest…can be a real pain,but haven’t been convinced on settings…trial and error…but really only a day here ,a day there,….but half the fun is in the looking and being in the bush…@@stevegraf9276
