In this tutorial Lel shows how she applied Gold Leaf to a small chest. before applyting a Chinoiserie style design to the piece using IOD stamps. Stamping the design on to the piece, painting ovet the stamps and then restamping over the painted design. It was a labour of love but well worth it. Join us for this tutorial in Lel's usual inclusive style showing you all the steps needed to replicate the piece yourself.

Definitely one of a kind❤️ I have an old piano bench that I will try this look on. I have to rush out the door, but after just watching you create this gorgeous piece, I knew if I didn't write now I probably wouldn't comment later. So nice to see you make over this trunk using a different style than your usual. Of course, it still is thoroughly you, adding those aging details and stamping techniques which I love. Adding that red around the edges certainly highlights the piece, just perfect! Interesting to note, when I look at interior design magazines of very wealthy homes put together by professional designers, more and more I'm seeing them incorporate very weathered vintage pieces. I'm also seeing painted furniture added to the interior of these gorgeous homes. More color too!!! Looks like artist furniture painters are influencing the industry. Watching this video, in fact all of your videos always inspire me putting me in a great mood. And boy do I need that lift right now. Honestly, I do envy you being able to work on your art all day everyday. Of course I realize it took a great deal of work to make that possible, but I do wish that I could afford that time working on my art. With love always, Sydni

Hi Sherrie, I'm not sure if you have used stayz on ink but it does exactly that it stays on. I didn't do anything because it doesn't run or bleed. Well it's a business Judy so I can't take weeks but an average piece takes around two days. Some larger pieces can take 4 days. KZbin is fitted around business chores. I paint most furniture without being filmed. KZbin videos take so much longer as there's lots of starting and stopping and getting the camera angles right and the sound. I must admit the editing and uploading to KZbin is the part that takes the most time Judy Marty does this every night as it takes days ... The piece above that your commenting on took a while although it's not complicated it was monotonous as there's quite a lot of stamping and then re stamping it took around 2 days. As I said though it is always much quicker when I'm not being filmed ...ha ha ha I would like to say being organised helps however even being organised it still takes time. Thanks so much for watching hope I have answered your question X ❤️

@MadebyMarley
@MadebyMarley 5 ай бұрын
I never mind questions.... Sealer first I sealed the piece with wax... But I did this at the end no need to seal in between. I used all Annie Sloan but acrylic might even work better. When you do it, all the paint needs 2x coats as the first slightly repels as it's on gold leaf. The first magician I ever saw came to my nursery school. I watched him pour a pitcherful of water into a cone made of newspaper. Of course, in the end, there was no water anywhere and the newspaper was bone dry. In my mind's eye I can see myself, eyes wide open, huge, staring at that newspaper and the man, and trying to understand how in the world he'd done that. I still don't know. That's exactly how I felt watching you transform this chest from a shy brown bird into an explosion of color. The double stamping is something I've never seen, the blazing red on the inside is the perfect surprise. I can imagine a potential buyer being attracted to the gold and color, going to the chest, opening the top, and seeing the red. Sold! Watching you work as you make your choices--where to stamp, what to stamp, what part of the stamp to use....I feel as if I get a glimpse into your mind. You make it look easy. You come very close to making me believe I might be able to do it. That's a kind of magic all by itself. Thank you for your art, your inspiration, and your generosity in sharing it with all of us. 💗❣💖

@@MadebyMarley Not worthy? It's interesting that when one is born with an inherent talent that came from our ancestry from god knows who, we find, as we grow older and begin putting that talent to use, we often regard it in an offhand manner, as if it's normal, easy and therefore not a talent at all. So why should we receive praise and appreciation for something we find easy? I don't mean to imply that don't work hard, or that your creative ideas for transforming an orphaned piece of furniture come easily. Nevertheless, there is talent at the bottom of it all. In your case, I think, it's your ability to visualize what that piece of furniture could become. In addition, you have learned, and I would guess with no small amount of difficulty, to believe in your process. That is the hard part, especially for women: Belief in oneself. At least it's been that way for me. I think it's what makes watching your videos so compelling. You often say something looks like a hot mess, that we must think you're crazy. But then you say, "But it'll come right." And it always does. I deeply understand the "I am not worthy thing. " I recently found articles and essays of mine I haven't seen in maybe 25 years. I read them and wonder, "Who wrote that?" Then came the tears, because I realize how little regard I had for my writing. It's painful. No matter how much praise I got, I felt I was an imposter. Not worthy. I don't know how old you are. I think you mentioned having at least one grandchild? That seemed impossible to me, not only because you look and seem so young, but your ability to play and enjoy what you do, as you most likely did when you were a child. I will soon be 77, which also seems impossible to me, but still very much have a child inside. She's about 4. For me, that's where your inspiration comes from. Dare to let that child come out and play. I have no idea how successful I'll be at transforming furniture, but you're the only one I've found that makes me think maybe I can do it. Don't thank me for this comment. I am honest in my praise and in my criticism (Virgo here) to the point of being of being blunt. So please don't think you're unworthy, never mind say it. Don't ever reach the point at age 76 when you look at a piece of furniture you've transformed and wonder who did it.

No I prefer gold leaf.... Laura, although I have tried it.... It doesn't look the same as gold leaf but it's just my opinion x

It's from la campagne by IOD hopefully I have spelled it better than I described it ha ha I'm so bad at naming things and my eyesight is terrible. If you watch the queen of the Nike video I call roses cabbages....Marty never lets me forget. Lel X ❤️
