I remember getting absolutely roasted in ow1 I was hardstuck low gold high silver on dps. Naturally that meant that people only looked at stats. I was near diamond on support and tank. I think I got put in a team with a 5stack. My team not realizing that our zarya was only bubbling the rein on Dorado, rein who didn't get anything done other then firestrikes Vs the phara mercy echo ball Winston ana. Our team consisted of me on Ashe/Cassidy, a Moira and a zen, rein zarya and junkrat. Naturally I got flamed to shit because my zarya only bubbles rein and lived the longest themselfs while they dived me and i would get 1shot. I asked them plz bubble me they said you are sh*t. I told them okay then ignore the fliers and go lucio and speed onto the ana on cart. They said kill stuff first. I had 50%+ accuracy on both Ashe and Cassidy with like 15% crit. I went tracer to force the cart and mercy to get off the fliers because I wouldn't be able to secure kills. That ofcourse meant that I got flamed even harder because of not being able to kill the fliers due to no hitscan. They capped with 4 minutes in timebank. During that entire game I was giving callouts. On attack in the spawn all my team did was flame me. I said I'm hitting my shots I just don't live long enough to kill them. Go mercy and dva and genji or tracer and tracer goes onto the ana. Mercy and dva just keep me alive, I promise I'll carry you. They again said you are to sh*t, my response was well you are going to lose anyways so why not try it out for 1 min and see what happens. They did and I proceeded to consistently 2tap their fliers untill they swapped and then again and again killed them. On defence I went 2-13. We won the game with me having like 36k dmg and going 42 and 16. They just didn't understand that bubbling a rein who can't swing does nothing nor does going tracer to force the mercy off them or the dva to peel work. We fullheld them on first because they where stupid enough go spend 3,5 min going 2 fliers again. Every time they got a kill I just threw bob on cart. Every target I called out we annihilated because they where out of position. I was hardstuck in that rank because tanks just never took highground or made enough space. (I am now diamond on dps because I can have more impact with just 1 tank in ow2). Btw they still said I was sh*t after that, their respons to me asking I am still sh*t? Was yes, the enemy Smurfs stopped trying... They didn't have any smurf, they just didn't have a dog comp to defend against dive lol I have won games in those gold lobbies while playing extremely sh*t myself by just using comms and having teammates willing to listen because my gamesense was soo much better. Id call out targets that didn't have abilities or would be out of position and Winston and tracer would dive them. Id call out watch out for this ultz stand here don't push forward because otherwise you will die from that ult. I swear it you have someone giving good callouts silvers play like golds golds can play like plats.

This is actually representative of how all my Gold game comms are. Nobody uses voice to shot call, but just to rage at their own teammates. I'm at the point where I don't even bother to give them a chance before muting; I just mute everyone and make calls while also pinging targets. (75% of this amounts to pointing out that a flanker is behind us, then having nobody respond or act on that information anyway.) No wonder I mostly stick to Quick Play.

I will say that Grasp can potentially be more impactful than Anti-nade in how it specifically is used to prevent teammates from getting picked by non-snipers. Platform has more applications than TP and is slightly more reliable for escaping ultimates with (not as strong for repositioning, though--both together allows your team to go wherever they want, though). I think Grasp is fine where it is, personally--they could potentially add a heal to it to make it more reliably save teammates and save LW some time in topping them up after pulling them, but the CD is probably where it should be. Platform could use a CD reduction, I think, despite it having some pretty strong niche uses. Also, let's not balance the game around busted ass Kiriko, lmao.

A huge boost to heals (while potentially giving a massive debuff to enemies) isn't something to be underestimated. Even if it doesn't save from the brink of death, preventing a tough situation is better than barely scraping through one. Gonna have to agree on kiriko lmao, but I hard disagree on tp and platform. Sym can move her team, their constructs, even some ultimates across three dimensions, sometimes multiple times. Saw a high elo game where a sym main on hanamura kept a tp out of los from point to high ground for karq on ana to use fir the *entire* first point defense. Enemy team couldn't contest it, it gave way too much mobility to Ana.

Kiriko makes matchmaking a joke. You're supposed to be matched equally against other tanks or dps but then a kiriko shows up out of nowhere with her few second cooldown teleport and turns every. single. 1v1. against you. If you don't have your own kiriko, it's an instant L.

Imo, a character should have legitimate weaknesses (even if that weakness is not excelling in any particular area.) It makes playing them and playing against them much more satisfying.
