Some say 4.0, some say 3.5. Let's just say 3.75 and call it a day.

I think there is a lot overlap when it comes to the point system. Most non rated players think they are better than they really are. I know I thought so after playing a lot and thinking I was a certain level. When in reality i was just around the 3.0 mark. Just get out and play!!

Normally I watch these matches and think, these 3.5 players are 3.0 on their best day........ these guys I watch and think " 4.0 on a bad day". I don't even know what's right anymore, maybe this is what a 3.5 should look like....... are they sandbagging or others inflating their skill level?

This is the gold medal match at a national tournament, so these guys are certainly on the very high end of 3.5/solid 4.0s. Video has a way of making everything look slow and the players appear less skilled. If you get on the court with these 4 players, I can guarantee you will feel they are solid 4.0 level.

@@TeamHanlonPickleball That was what I was saying, these players look better than most the 3.5 matches I've watched. My question is if this is what 3.5 play should look like, or are these players sandbagging?
@TeamHanlonPickleball9 ай бұрын
These are solid 4.0 players who are better than almost anyone playing 3.5 at any tournament across the country. "Sandbagging" gets thrown around a lot. In my mind, a sandbagger is someone who has won gold multiple times but refuses to move up. I don't know the tournament history of these players, so I can't make a judgment.

@@TeamHanlonPickleball "These are solid 4.0 players who are better than almost anyone playing 3.5 at any tournament across the country." Nope. Not buying that. I mean, they had their moments in this match. There were some nice moments for sure. But there were waaay too many unforced errors, miscommunication & misplays for them to be as good as you're saying. Hell, one guy literally swung and missed two different times on an overhead (it happens to everyone, we've all been there... but twice in the same game???). Not taking anything away from them, but you're about ready to crown them 3.5 National Champions. Let's pump the brakes a bit. They won a tournament, granted, a nice size one... but still. Nothing in this match says they're among the best in the country at 3.5. And these guys don't look like sandbaggers to me. They're look between 3.5 & 4.0.

@@CurtPricebuddy, 4.0 doesn’t mean pro. lol. These are 4.0 players under any reasonable measure.

what are u guys talking about, these are 3.5 for sure. Missing easy drop shots and popping it up. Too inconsistent to be any higher than 3.5
