A simple, cost effective application to modify a Vibra-Static Dry Washer, increasing gold recovery up to 25%. This video may appear lengthy, however, it is packed with information, including extensive "In-The-Field" testing with actual results. My goal is to inspire viewers to maximize their gold prospecting adventure. Thanks for watching ! #Gold #Mining #Prospecting #Dry Wash #Desert #Sluice #Wash Plant

I don't know Alan, from the looks of what you had recovered wet washing I would say you had 90-95 percent recovery with the dry washer. I ran a test once with a puffer and took what came off the drywasher sluice (about 2 five gallon buckets) and then ran these tails thru a spiral wheel. Got 2.5 gold pans of black sands that I hand panned. Got maybe 100 tiny meaning sub 100 mesh pieces from the black sands. If you put them all together you might make one of the larger pieces the dry washer caught. If I had spent the time just continuing to run more material thru the dry washer instead of messing around with the spiral bowl and hand panning all that black sand I would have ended up with 4-5 times more gold than I recovered. But I was doing a test to see how effective the dry washer was. The only way to really determine the percentage is to weigh the test results and compare. But to me your mods to the drywasher was impressive.

Thanks for your comments John ! Glad to hear from others, and their testing. Yeah, the screen method seemed to help improve recovery. Did you classify the material down to about 25-50 mesh before the spiral ? I've never had much luck with fine gold on a spiral. I'm a Blue Bowl guy. Lol ! The type of material is a factor. Dry stream gravel is best. Unfortunately, the dry washer can't recover much from gooey clay, which is what I'm currently encountering. Almost everyone out here running volume is wet for that reason. Should have seen the hard chunky clay I was running with the wash plant today. Whoowee !! Best of luck to you prospecting ! 🤠⚒⛏👍

Revolutionary...as expected! Except on my first pass of anything... wet or dry (no matter what) I want to catch all of the black sand. I will use any and every trick up my sleeve (including magnets) to catch the black sand. (Wet or dry... dosen't matter). In a sluice box I use black sand stuck to magnets to catch the fine gold. Anyways... I'm jumping up and down right now because I know how much large mining companies love ultra fine gold and how much weekenders hate black sand and just want to get rid of the stuff and just get the gold. Normally fine and ultra fine gold recovery is beyond the scope, ability and interest of us serious weekenders... but not anymore. I want to start a new TV series called. "Leave it to Allen!"

A vibrating screen will also help break up a lot of clods, dry trommel, mini garden high speed rototiller. These all will aid in a better recovery. As does the flatness of the recovery box. @@allansgoldmining both are very good machines! I use an older goldbug II and the sdc 2300. That equinox is a good machine in trashy areas! You can fin a small nugget under an old rusty nail real clear as day. Yet it doubles up as a good coin machine too. The equinox will find subgrainers. But the older 5 diggit serial number goldbug II is the most sensitive machine out there! The gold monster is ok but i wouldn't trade up for it. The perfect pair is the GreyGhost headphones w/ the GB II your take will increase a lot! You wont be able to hear your buddies talking but your focus will be razor sharp! And thats very important for small gold and drywash tell tale nuggets. 👍 GB II W/ 6" COIL, GREYGHOST headphones. The gold monster is cool because it has excellent discrimination. But the goldbug is slightly more sensitive. I have found gold down to 1/20 of a grain. Also when the sun is setting the goldbug quiets down and becomes very sensitive almost supernatural!...

Seems like a puffer would do this by the very nature of the bellows design. More air being pushed through the top of the riffle tray than the bottom due to the increased volume of air at the top due to the tapered bellows.

Great video. We have just completed the field testing of our new Airwasher plant. Recovery rate is above 90% in the capture range, 1/2" minus to 30 mesh minus. NO box, continuous dual output, save port and reject port. Rejection ratio is approximately 25 to 1. Adjustable capture range. Slowing down a bit, will capture the 50 mesh minus but the rejection ratio with drop to 20/1. This new system is designed for heavy mineral sand mining. We have closed down our manufacturing and sales, opening a mining operation in Nevada.

Interesting modification. Your mod is similar to an "underflow" sluice box on a dredge. I may have to try it sometime. You are a natural video maker and your narration flows well. Now a suggestion or two…. I don't understand why you don't use a magnet to carefully remove all that black sand when doing your cleanup. It will make the process so much easier. So will classifying your cons before panning. Your experiment and results are valid only for your particular dry washer and material. You can't apply your results to all dry washers with varying airflow, etc. out there processing a huge variety of material and gold particle sizes. If you want to take your experiment further and then make your claim, then you will need to spend the time to process material from many different areas with many different dry washers. I wonder if the bellows type dry washer would benefit from your mod? Great video.
@allansgoldmining
@allansgoldmining 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick. Thanks for your compliments and thoughts. I don't like to use a magnet to remove black sand from concentrates. The filings tend trap fine gold. Tapping the magnet helps a bit, but not completely. The panning in this video was for quick demo purposes. Generally, I take all the cons and classify, then run through a Blue Bowl or Maverick Finishing pan. These effectively separates the black sand.I believe the screen technique with work well for all vibra static dry washers. Just a matter of adjusting the air volume and riffle angle for each condition. Not sure how well this idea will function on a billows system ? Hope somebody out there can test and report. Would be interesting.Currently, I'm designing a dry wash plant that will classify material through a dry trommel, then flow onto separate dry washers at different rates, air flow, and angle, to move volume and improve recovery.

I most appreciate your posting this. I've watched your video on your washing op and really learned a lot. I need to watch this further. Perhaps you answer the question down the line. What about flour gold, I mean the really fine stuff, which is what we have on our claims? I think the words you were search for (50-cent geology terms) regarding a large iron particle vs a much smaller gold particle is "hydraulic equivalence". If words matter. Certainly specific gravity does.
@allansgoldmining
@allansgoldmining 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Thom. Thanks for watching my videos. Much appreciated ! Yes, the wash plant is the best way to recover fine gold, without going overboard and making giant Blue Bowls or Miller tables. Even with that, some gold at -200 mesh, or finer, can best be extracted by leaching. And that gets costly ! So, the values have to be there to make it worth it. A dry washer is at a disadvantage because of the physics. My little screen technique helps, but not as good as the wash plant. Thanks for your comments, and good luck prospecting ! 👍🤠⚒⛏

Don't know if your still watching the comments. My question would be would it not be better to preclassify the material before putting it through the dry washer? Get out everything #4+ (and metal detect that to pick up any nuggets, and only run #4- though the drywasher, turning down the air flow to minimize the loss of fine gold. Since you don't need to blow out the big stuff, you shouldn't need as much airflow.
@allansgoldmining
@allansgoldmining 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael. Thanks for your question. Yes, you're idea would work as well. The screen idea, attached to the dry washer, permits the operator to classify material "on the fly." Best of luck to you in your prospecting adventures. !

Honestly Terry, I've only run about 20 yards through the system so far, and haven't noticed any excessive wear. I performed a complete inspection last month. I'm quite amazed how well things are holding up ! I speculate that the plastic bottom plate inside the hopper would be the first to go, considering it takes a beating from all the rocks being dumped on it. However, it's holding up too ! This past weekend my waterproof bilge pump died, so I had to replace it. Somehow water leaked inside the motor compartment through the power cord insert, and shorted out and burned the brushes. It was sudden and unexpected. I plan to raise the pump high enough out of the water to keep the cord dry. That's the only issue so far.

Right side of sluice (if you're standing at the discharge end and facing the dry washer) has a lot more material flowing through than the left side does. Hi Chris. You don't necessarily need to file a mining claim in order to use a dry washer as "Casual Use" defind in BLM regulations. However, you need to research whether the ground is open to mineral entry, and where there are legal mining claims posted. Both the State of AZ and BLM have PDF files you can download online that will give you all the info regarding prospecting and filing mining claims. I personally have mining claims. Also, if you visit "Ask Jeff Williams" KZbin channel, he has over 300 videos on prospecting, including how to file. Good luck prospecting !

Hi Bob. I've had a couple folks give it a try, but not too successful. I think the problem is the bellows angle. Due to its triangular hinged design, higher air volume occurs on the upper riffle board, while the lower section less.

@allansgoldmining
@allansgoldmining Жыл бұрын
Hi Red. Thanks for watching this video. There's no real angle to set the riffle board because of so many variables, air volume, feed rate, material type, machine type, etc. But in general, I like to start at 12 degrees. I feed at a rate that I can barely see the top of the riffles. Don't feel bad about losing fine gold. The physics involved makes it difficult to recover, unless you have an over abundance of fine gold you're working. Dry washers are a good prospecting tool. However, when you find a really good spot, it's always best to bring in a wash plant to maximize recovery. Check out my Gold Rattler videos if have time. Why not line the bottom of the hopper or the head of the riffle tray with magnets to collect the black sand and gold (by getting stuck in the sand) allowing the separation process to be more efficient. The screen idea is genius, btw. Great tip!

Audrey, thanks for complements. The folks at Snake River Products have a device called Clean Gold, which utilizes magnetic strips to create a black sand riffle field for trapping fine gold. I use it on my wash plant sluice. Works great on fines. However, the same concept doesn't work well on air or dry material. Will keep trying though !

Hello sir, new to the desert and failing; I tested my puffer with fines in Idaho and it looked ok compared to wet washing. I'm using microfiber cloth which generates a lot of static. Just wondering if there are pitfalls I'm unaware of aside from durability. Are furry materials avoided to ease clean up? Thanks for the content! (If you find time to respond, I'm very curious as to what a decent grade of bank gravel in a wash would be and how large of a sample should be taken, more so than the cloth, thank you.)

Any gold 0.2 grams will easily trap in the first riffle. The dry washer is very efficient in that regard. I have experimented with this for quite some time. I run all my dry washer tailings through the wash plant, and have never recovered gold greater than 100 mesh.

I watched 3 times and paused several times. It looks like “by weight” you got 70% “as is” and your modifications look like pan 2 was 15-20% and only looks like 5% (leaving the usual 5% even the sluice misses) as super fines look like a lot but don’t ever seem to weigh that much. It sure looks like you are pretty close to 90% recovery with your modifications. I would like to see you run a good size sample through your modded dry washer then run the tailings through the wash plant. Keep the cons from both and take them home, clean, dry and weigh the results. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Chris. Thank you for your analysis. Unfortunately, the camera does not have the resolution to visualize all the fine gold. So its hard to assess on the video. I think you are pretty close though. In this demonstration, I ran four 5 gallon buckets of material. Yes, a larger run would improve validation. If I get a chance this summer, will test with more volume. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it !

Oh, one more thing. The material I ran was tailings from 1920's dry washing. The material was well broken down. The virgin ground I'm currently working is caliche with chunky red clay. So, the wash plant will have a better edge on recovery.

I really enjoy yours and Jeff Williams desert prospecting videos. The collaborative video was funny! Jeff was like a kid in a candy store. I think it’s fantastic you have come up with a way to help people who have to prospect with little to no water. I agree that your wash plant with the dewatering trommel will work much better assuming someone could get even that much water to where they are working, but for those that can’t use a wash plant, 90% recovery is pretty amazing. That’s cool, I’m glad you are still getting good gold out of the old tailings! It’s also really cool there is still virgin ground to be had.

The problem with static magnets is that particles of gold become trapped within the magnitite filings. I currently have a better solution called Spin It Off. Pulls off magnitite, but leave the gold behind. Works perfectly. Check out their videos. It's amazing !

As I mentioned in the video, there is gold trapped in the upper riffles due to "random chance." Anyone can re-run tailings through their dry washer and collect a small percentage of gold on a second pass due to this property (Physics 101). The physics remain the same, until there is a change. That's where the 20 mesh screen and reduced air volume come into play. The gold is trapped on the lower riffles because the dynamics have changed on the second pass. Obviously, this gold wasn't recovered on the first past because of the inherent physics of a dry washer. By modifying certain features, the physics and be altered for improved recovery.
@laskyland8526
@laskyland8526 3 жыл бұрын
Random Chance isn't intelligent or physics lOl, unless yor a Newt/globalist. first pass caught specks smaller and equal as second round with screen. perhaps/ Obviously,,, percentage of Au against volume would better represent advantage' of screen and baffle compared to inherent Preponderance and Obvious,, Dipole properties. Confirmation Bias is Bitch.

@allansgoldmining
@allansgoldmining 5 жыл бұрын
Bring me your tailings. I will be more than happy to debunk your claim that your dry washer doesn't lose gold. You need to understand the physics behind this process. The material I am working with contains high quantities of clay and silt. Therefore, the excessive dust is not from increased blower volume. The angle of the riffle board is set at 2:1, which is very shallow compare to most operations.

@@allansgoldmining Still, if I could get 25$ per yard running my track loader, if there was enough land to filter through, I could make about 1000$ per day, as it only takes me about 2 minutes to scoop up a yard of dirt and rock, and a moderate 8 hour day is 480 minutes long, enough time to scoop up 240 yards [assuming one has a conveyor belt and it is all set up on a long lasting tank of diesel from an efficient little diesel engine] because 240 yards would be about 6000$ but by the time you counted fuel, travel, overhead of all possible kinds [more if you stay elsewhere in a hotel and not in a camper or tent on site], you might make 1000$ per day...
