@@allansgoldmining I was looking at your set up and thought about, what if you were to put independent wheel hubs and got rid of the axle. This would allow for a bigger recirculating system that would possibly help keep the water cleaner for a longer period of time. I also thought about a rectangular pool that would fit at the back on the ground with dividers that would allow for several stages of filtration. You would only have the 1 item instead of 4 or 5 containers to set up. Just some thoughts that were building off your setup. Not sure if it would really work.

Hello Allan, long time, no hear. I hope you and yours are well and enjoying life. I am sure lots has been happening in the background over the last 7 months. I know that I have been thinking a lot about how I can build some kind of conveyor or auger to move material from the ground up to the shaker deck. Not only could the material be metered out at different speeds to optimize the shaker deck, but would allow for a lot more automation. What I am now thinking is a 4 inch, or 6 inch, heavy duty plastic pipe of 10 feet, with about 12 feet of auger. The electric motor could be at the top end, pulling material up the pipe, from a hopper on the ground. To keep large rocks from jamming in the pipe, I was thinking of a third separate piece to be a heavy duty steel grizzly bars that would be set up over top of the hopper to keep out stones larger than 1.5 inches or so. This hopper could be filled by hand with buckets or shovels, or by machine such as by a mini excavator or tractor bucket. This 3-piece set would be a nice additional option for those wishing to process a lot more material. Plastic pipe with auger, hopper for auger to pull material from, and the grizzly bar set to keep larger stones out of the hopper. If the tall and the short sides of the grizzly could fold underneath the main flat top, it may be heavy, but would not take up much room. The same with the hopper, if the sides could be folded in it also would not take up that much room. The 10 foot plastic pipe should probably remain a single unit, but the auger wants pulled out of the pipe could be detached in the middle so that each piece would be only 6 feet long. By having the auger motor at the top of the pipe, it could easily draw power from the power panel. The speed controller could also be placed on the electrical panel. Just some thoughts I have been having of what I would want on my gold rattler. I wish you well, looking forward to the next video and gold rattler update.
@allansgoldmining6 ай бұрын
Hi Frank. Always appreciate your thoughts. The auger idea sounds interesting. Keep me posted on the progress. I've looked into auger flights of that size a couple years ago. Some prices were horribly expensive, however, there was a couple reasonable ones... Just haven't had the time to pursue the project. I've been in the process of setting up production for the Gold Rattler. Have two built and a third in progress. Will be posting a video soon on what's going on. I traveled to Texas last month to watch the eclipse, and spent a week touring the state. Everything is big in Texas !! Also was involved this Discovery Channel's Mine Rescue. Was cool to hang out with Freddy and Juan ! Can't say much about it until it airs next year. Keep in touch !

Allan, I am always impressed by your commitment to this project and that you are sharing this information with us. I still believe that you can create a small conveyor to feed this unit making it easier on your back and likely even faster overall. If this was done then you could also cover the lower end of the shaker deck and lose zero water from splashing out the sides. something to look forward to I guess 😃 Thanks for this channel. (I built your original trommel and it worked as expected.)

I don't know why more people don't use suspended or spring loaded hoppers and grizzly screens. The vibration of rocks being dropped down helps clear the hopper and screen via extra vibration. I use a steeply angled grizzly that is spring loaded via the use of bungee cords. It clears extremely well, saving me the time of multiple hand sweeps to clear material. Nicely done on your newest version, looks great!

Good job on the upgrade. One thing when those holes get worn out, you will have to replace the whole assembly with all of them holes in it??? Should have a pop in section there for when the holes wear out they WILL.. and have it slide from underneath on rails with a gasket, so no bolts on top just flush.
@allansgoldmining Жыл бұрын
This is made of stainless steel and be more durable. However, you are correct regarding operation hours. One could easily cut out that section and bolt on another punch plate. Perhaps by that time it will easier to replace the deck. Thanks for your comments. Best of luck to you ! 🤠 ⛏️⚒️👍

Great stuff Alan. I was thinking at first, why not just use a good trommel. But I think after seeing your whole rig, it is because of the heavy clay material. Anyway, nice innovation and design.
@allansgoldmining Жыл бұрын
Thank you ! Appreciate your comments ! Yeah, trommels tend to take up too much room, high maintenance, and alignment is critical to it's operation. A stacked trommel system (main trommel, sluice, and dewatering trommel) would be twice as tall, making it impractical for standard use by hobby prospectors. If you watch some of my original videos, beginning 7 years ago, you can see how I've gradually evolved from a trommel system to a shaker deck platform. Thus, giving birth to the Gold Rattler. Best of luck to you prospecting !

Alan could explain why the vibrators are mounted at a 45 deg on the dewatering section and horizontal on the upper shaker deck?
@allansgoldmining8 ай бұрын
Good question, John ! There's lots of physics involved. The principle is called "Energy Balance Mechanism." The energy waves generated by the twin vibrators at 47 degrees creates a "G" force to produce an elliptical motion. As you probably noticed, the balls of material flowing off the dewatering deck are actually climbing uphill at 2 degrees. Neat stuff, right ? The single vibrator on the upper shaker deck creates a similar action, however, the ellipse comes in a wave rippling down the surface of the deck at 60hz. This causes rocks bounce around for improved cleansing. Watch my video published over a year ago called "Evolution of a Desert Wash Plant" where I explain more of the science. 😃 kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYavm5xnYpqJd9E

Happy New Year 🎉 Allen! Are you currently working on a new water filtration system?
@allansgoldmining10 ай бұрын
Happy New Year to you as well. I'm sticking with the current system for production reasons. However, I'm investigating a lamella classifier as an alternative to the pressurized sand filter.
@PolarisRider06 Жыл бұрын
Someone may have said this before and you might have even done it in the past, but have you tried reversing the rotation of vibrator on the top deck so that material gets thrown up the slope instead of down the slope? My thoughts behind that idea is thatvit will slow the material down on the deck and the heavier materials will stay up on the deck and get washed more and the gold may even work its way up and over the top edge while everything else will be carried down the slope by the water therefore giving the rocks even more time to be cleaned and getting even more of the ultra fine gold off of them. That might allow the use of an even smaller and lighter vibration motor and lower water flow rates, making your system that much lighter and more efficient.
@allansgoldmining Жыл бұрын
Yes I have reversed the vibrator motor. Unfortunately, is causes the rocks to stall on the deck. Increasing the angle (slope) to compensate creates another problem.... the deck becomes less ergonomically practical to feed. To me, ergonomics is much more important. The rocks are washed very well as it is currently set up. There would not be much gain in terms of additional gold recovery. Furthermore, notice the vortex created by each sprayer. This causes material to churn and mix, thus effectively stripping gold from clay bound rocks and material. This also causes larger stones to lag, thus generating longer wash time for more effective cleansing. Thank you for watching, and best of luck prospecting. 🤠⛏️⚒️👍

Possibly reorient the motor and reroute the motor cable to avoid having a loose cable? Even better if the reorientation cause the pay to be thrown back UP the deck.
@allansgoldmining6 ай бұрын
I assume you are referring to the upper shaker deck ? On the production model I have the cable hanging a bit higher. Don't want it too tight because it could damage due to lack of flexibility. Reorientating the motor causes the material to stall. No good ! Best to keep the deck at 6 degrees and use the vortex action of the sprayers to do the cleaning. The studs hold the larger stones a few more seconds for more thorough wash. I think the plant is engineered for peak efficiency. 👍

Allan stainless is soft and with the hole cut in the main plate of the deck the rocks will wear this area out. In the old way you could just replace the plate as needed and change hole sizes if you wished. So just be prepared for those holes to ware out in time.
@allansgoldmining Жыл бұрын
No problem. Just cut out that section and bolt on a punch plate. Stainless is much more durable than you think. It's not that soft. Ever try bending or drilling it ? More durable than carbon steel or aluminum. By the time these holes deform, it will be time to replace the deck, which will be at least a couple thousand hours. Thanks for watching ! 👍
@richardoconnor7162 Жыл бұрын
Worked with all the time. Cutting it is not like working with sheet steel. You can cut it with saw blades or a nibbler. A grinder with abrasive wheel will just overheat the blade and tear it up because it is soft and folds over more than sparks away. Drilling is super easy, must be backed and drill sharp go at a low speed cutting the metal not spinning and causing the drill bits to heat up and dull. @@allansgoldmining
@allansgoldmining Жыл бұрын
@@richardoconnor7162yep, I agree. Interesting properties on this metal for sure. I generally use a nibbler, but still have smooth out the edges. That's why I'm going to have a CNC sheet metal shop do most of the fabricating. More profesional results then what I have in the garage. High pressure, slowest speed possible for drilling. 👍

Yes, water jet cutting and punched out holes, electro polishing are real hard to do at home with out a lot of investment , We used make a bunch of decorations like 6 foot musky in stainless for fishing camps but the world changed. I still have designs in mind but not the funds to bring to market@@allansgoldmining

I love this design, very efficient! I'm intrigued with the dewatering deck. What angle do you set that at? It doesn't look very steep.
@allansgoldmining Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind compliments. Glad you like it ! Actually, the angle on the dewatering deck is set at -2 degrees. So, the material is climbing uphill to get out. Isn't that amazing ? 😮 It's the invisible physics that makes it happen. 👍

Interesting machine well done. What is the average water consumption per hour and how long does your original water last per yard
@allansgoldmining7 ай бұрын
Great questions. On average, it takes about 40 gallons to process a cubic yard. Because I'm running gooey clay material, I change water twice a day. Stream gravel about once per day. It really depends on material type. Thanks for watching !! 🤠⛏️⚒️👍

@tomsaunders383 Жыл бұрын
Three minor points. Your springs hang inwards so are dampening your range of movements. In Australia several mines have rectangular slots eg 10mm x 20mm for angular gold. Top section against the flow, bottom with. Third, if you can get your vibratory spin to work upwards again the feed flow, slower feed greater clean.
@allansgoldmining Жыл бұрын
The angle of the springs are 15 degrees. The angle is for stability purposes, not enough to compromise excitation of vibrating deck. Slots are okay but tend to jam more often, thus reducing classification efficiency. I prefer to lower the deck angle rather than reverse the vibratory ellipse. Remember, the rocks have to travel over the 5/16" holes at the end. Reversing the vibrator motor would cause the rocks to stall. It is better to leave the direction alone but angling the sprayers upwards instead. Thanks for watching, mate ! 👍🤠⛏️⚒️

Do you use drip-dry in your water so the minerals that are washed away drop out of the water more easily so you can have a cleaner water to wash your rocks again with the same water
@allansgoldmining Жыл бұрын
Nice idea, but not effective in this process because the water recirculation is 1.5 minutes. Not enough time to settle. Large ponds are required, which is not practical for hobby prospectors. This is why sand filters are best approach in this scenario. Appreciate your comments. Thanks for watching. 👍

I've looked into radial flow settlers, but not Lamella classifieds. Do you know much about them ? We'll have look into it. The radial settler works well on large operations, but not sure if I can scale it down to our level and make it practical ? 🤔
@MerchantMarineGuy Жыл бұрын
@@allansgoldmining there’s some good KZbin tutorials on them, just going to drop the Wikipedia page here. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamella_clarifier They are compact and good post-treatment for your sand filters. Gravity feed, very efficient. I’ve been experimenting with a radial flow settler design. Commonly used in aquaculture for removing waste solids, they are usually made from a 55-gal drum. Could probably get away with a 5-gal bucket size depending on the flow rate. Would be an idea fit ahead of the lamella clarifier removing most solids 400+ mesh

This is a lot late, but the reason that the motor has almost no movement is tgat it is sitting in a vibration null point. A move of an inch would help that. It is similar to the tacoma-narrows bridge. The supports were unintentionally placed at the null points, which allowed the winds to generate a vibratory harmonic which ripped it apart. Watchvtge documentary. It is a great waychbof engineering oops 😁👍

I think you need a little more pitch in that at least another four or 5 inches higher in the front so those rocks will truly roll off of there. You shouldn’t have to help them off of there.
@allansgoldmining7 ай бұрын
I don't have to help them off. Rocks exit well on their own. Increasing the incline will cause rocks to exit too fast, and not receive adequate wash time. This shaker deck is specifically designed so that larger rocks and clay clots transit slowler for more efficient wash. Finer pebbles move faster and are directed onto the sluice.

I do understand the whole game of being out there enjoying life and all, but to only find that tiny amount after the cost of this unit and hauling and setting up and breaking down to pack up. I can’t justify it for a gram of gold. Each to their own I guess. I’ll stick to detecting.

Perhaps on a day basis you are right. However, if I spend a week at it, I'll recover much more. Adding a conveyor and mini excavator will probably smoke out more daily gold than a detectorist. My gold is fairly consistent, where detectorist can go for days not finding any shiny. The ground I'm working isn't super rich, but close to home. The purpose is to demonstrate functionality.
