Watch part 1 of this interview on stocks: • Harry Dent: Stocks to ...
Harry Dent, founder of HS Dent, is calling for gold to see its final rally to $2,200 an ounce next year before falling to multi-year lows. After 2022, the new lows should present a new buying opportunity. “From 2022 on, I’d be buying gold hand in fist, it’s going to hold up better than most commodities,” he said.
“I’m expecting gold to go up…when this crisis starts to build next year, it’s going to see more stimulus, it’s going to go up at first. I have a target of $2,200,” Dent said. “$2,200 is the strong resistance in the coming months and then crash back down to its 2015 lows, around $1,000.”

Gold reacts to the old definition of inflation not the new one. I still do not see why people don't understand the two definitions of inflations and understand Gold's role enough to see what will happen. A stock market and real estate crash is not really deflation, it is a bubble deflating though. Gold is a measurement of the expansion of the money supply which can happen while bubbles are deflating. The government props and blows bubbles inflating prices in certain sectors but also creates tons of more currency units that slowly increases general prices. Expansion of the money supply will cause increased consumer prices while these pre-blown bubbles deflate. So until the government balances it's budget and has normal interest rates for borrowing Gold is a good part of your portfolio.

Doesn’t matter the price of gold , it is what you can buy from it ! And if gold falls too 1000k for example , imagine how much more everything will cost even less ! Gold goes down 50% , everything else falls maybe 75%+? It’s a debt crash , no one can pays for anyone because to many “I owe you” , unbacked debt paper , everything falls quickly until I imagine a good ratio of debt to asset is acceptable or ..... The price of gold sky rocket ! Who owns the most gold and has the biggest debt in the world ? USA ! Only way to backed so much debt is with gold and you push the price of it way higher and every commodities will follow . Everyone in the world will pay for it since US currency reserve ! Massif inflation everywhere in the world . Interesting time ahead imo . The harsh bear market commodities suffer for years will end with a vengeance imo. Paper money isn’t real value at the end ! Overinflated value will go down ( ie: real estate) and undervalued tangible will go up (commodities) . Better historical sustainable ratio ( regression toward the mean I suppose) will return .

No such thing as cycles especially today when things are changing so much. Cycles assume that things don't change. Things are changing. Never has there been such debt. Well there is a reason for it right ? Americans had the reserve currency for 70 years + now ? it got a higher strength than its real value because its the reserve . Imo the need owning gold to prevent currency devaluation is less . But the US is imo very near to lose its status of reserve ( if it isn’t already done in practical term...) and so American should really consider get gold before they feel how much less strength the dollar is without being the reserve ... It's funny how many of these economists say there is no inflation. Inflation is expansion of money supply, which has drastically increased over the last two decades, and prices thereby rise in assets like real estates, stocks and also in the bills, service fees, medical costs, and also some food. Those who hold many assets are benefiting from the inflation, but those are mainly boomers, most young people nowadays are broke. The system does not reward working middle class, but those who speculate on assets. So, we are witnessing larger wealth gap around the world, and what an irony those people say there is no or little inflation. Japan's bubble poped 40 years ago, but today young people are still struggling: many could not afford an appartment/house; and birth rate is dropping; families are disappearing. This is the result of rubbing working middle class. It is quite possible that the bubble pops one day, but they will reinflate it, because creating credit can be simply done by pressing some buttons on a computer!

Gold increased by 40% in the Great Depression during massive deflation because of a money supply reset. Gold will have that same role again because of the massive debt. He's put other people's money where his mouth is, lost them 10s of millions, and clearly doesn't understand concepts beyond Economy 101.

So what are your thoughts? considering how in 08 gold went up and around 2011-13 gold started to drop but the floor for gold didn't go down to 2000s levels. Is that what you meant when gold is gonna see a bull run when gold tanks maybe 3 years for now and things start picking up up again?

I'll correct a few incorrect statements in this video. Firstly, David referring to a Dow:Gold ratio of 1:1:. ONLY before 1870 was it 1:1. It has been over 1:1 since 1870, and mostly in the 10:1 - 15:1 area the past 30 years. It's now 16.5, which is close to the normal range of the past several decades. If it goes to 10:1, that could mean Dow 20,000 / Gold 2,000, or Dow 25,000 / Gold 2,500, or Dow 30,000 / Gold 3,000, etc. Secondly, Harry said nothing went up during the Great Depression accept bonds. I'm surprised he doesn't know the great success story of Homestake Mining, a gold mining stock, for which the stock price went from $80 in Oct, 1929 to $495 in Dec, 1935.

@Mdaddy4
@Mdaddy4 3 жыл бұрын
It's good to have Harry Dent on to hear a different perspective. However, i have a few items to point out. First, his only argument is that gold is ONLY correlated with inflation. However, gold is correlated with other factors too such as the strength of the USD, deficit, debt, and geopolitics. Also, many analysts are seeing inflation coming back so Harry's insistence on only deflation may not be correct. The current environment is not the same as the Great Depression where gold's price was set and there was none of this massive monetary and fiscal stimulus. Gold only truly became freely market based in 1971. The 1970s gold bull market matches the current gold bull market remarkably well if you overlay the two charts. And there is a chance that the government will experiment with MMT and direct cheques to the people. We haven't had inflation for 40 years and i think in this current environment when everyone thinks inflation is dead it'll come back with a vengence. So based on the evidence, i think gold will continue to rise and follow the 1970s bull market.
