It’s always great to meet another interested person in the hobby. I’m glad you find the videos helpful, if you have any questions, please let me know. Another great resource is the gold refining forum. If you just search that up on Google, you’ll find a pretty quickly. I really appreciate your view and your comment.

My friend I've done so many of those pins myself. I use glass coffee pots sitting outside in our Florida sunshine. I do use an air line and fish tank bubbler. I let them sit for weeks then filter it off catch the gold then start again. When I get up around 6-7 cotton plugs I refined it an put my 3/4 to maybe a gram and keep the coffee pots filled.
@richardhulbert94805 ай бұрын
Lab filters are nice but pricey. On you first filtering try jumbo cotton balls. Promise even if slower you will see a clean filtrate. Stuff them tight if using a vacuum or you suck the plug through and have to start over. Yes that sucks😅😅😅
@KKRRenewables5 ай бұрын
I used to have a bag of those oversized, cotton balls, but I swear I can’t find them anymore.
@KKRRenewables5 ай бұрын
It was recommended to me also to use Charmin toilet paper plugs, but I haven’t tried that yet.
@richardhulbert94805 ай бұрын
@@KKRRenewables I think that would suffice. I get the jumbo cotton balls at Walmart. I also get the blue ship towels at harbor freight. It's like paper towels times 4. Just saying. Filter papers are best. Cotton is great. Use what you have if you don't have those and hope for the best.

really like how you;'ve upgraded your mic and talking situation, and really enjoy long videos of this subject / of our hobby :) ... do you just choose to not use nitric acid? its relativly cheap.. its not really expensive.. i ordered 450ML of nitric and they sent me 1 liter.. lol.. but that being said.. i was just wondering if you just chose to not use nitric or not.. cause all this could be done alot quicker.. thanks, also.. what is ap solution.. google doesnt help when trying to define what it is.. you're the only one i've ever heard refer to using "ap solution" would be awesome if you could make a video, describing how that solution that you're using actually works as well :)

Thanks so much for the views and the comment. I’m glad someone recognizes my effort in editing and equipment as improvement. 😊. I had to use my phone on this one and the wind noise was horrible but I’ve learned quite a few tips/tricks with my editing platform to improve the sound. I really enjoy my GoPro media mod also, which cuts down the wind noise and provides a multidirectional mic. I can no longer get nitric where I live so I’m super stingy with the last bottles I have. I also have a few silver recovery experiments I’m saving the nitric for as they will require a greater volume of nitric. And muriatic acid is long lasting and cheap. My view on AP Solution…. It stands for Acid Peroxide Solution/Method. You create AP by adding a minute amount of H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) to HCl (muriatic acid). Basically, the oxygen and the Chlorine oxidize and dissolve the base metals. You don’t need H2O2 if you have an air bubbler providing the oxygen. IMO, concentrated H2O2 should never be used in backyard hobbies as it’s very strong, but a cap full of the 3% stuff from a pharmacy is good. Many people will make the point that too much H2O2 will dissolve your gold also. And it will. So use sparingly or a very weak concentration. The other option is an air bubbler. The H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) just gets the process moving a lot faster. The solution is really Cupric Chloride. I can do a video on it, sure 👍. Thank you for the idea. Have a great day and thank you again. 😊

Youre lucky you didn't have much foaming in the bucket. When I last tried that, it foamed so much it overflowed out of the bucket and all over my concrete
@KKRRenewables5 ай бұрын
Right on, I would not have enjoyed cleaning that up. I don’t think there was enough metal in the bucket to saturate the solution, and foam that much. I thought when I saw the foam that meant that I was saturated, but then I saw the color of the Solution and thought that maybe it wasn’t saturated enough to have a bubble over.

To get it clean id inquart the bead with sterling. Nitric baths until all the blue is gone. Dissolve in aqua regia and drop it with copperas. Probably got some lead or tin in there considering its e waste. Could be pgm's I think that milky stuff was silver chloride. That could be the contaminate. Nice job and yield tho.

I watched it and didn't get the knowledge. I don't know what to watch for. Many clips show the values of the substances used. What type of acid is used?
@KKRRenewables4 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for the view and the comment. I shall endeavor to make that more apparent in my experiments. These acids are dangerous though and should only be used with the proper protective equipment, environment, and caution. I use HCl and HNO3 to start the chemical processes. I’d advise reading CM Hoke’s book that’s been updated and made available on the goldrefiningforum.com. a wealth of knowledge. Thank you again and have a great day!

The pins you can't pull or the CPU sockets I rinse and then shake in a rinse water to get what gold I can that sticks to the plastic.
@richardhulbert94805 ай бұрын
Your bubble over is a nasty green foam telling you the solution is saturated. Add some fresh hcl. You will probably get a hard puck at the bottom of the pot. Fresh hcl can remove that or I typically filter the material off add some water to dissolve the puck then filter again add fresh hcl and some of the old ap then keep on trucking.
@richardhulbert94805 ай бұрын
Don't worry about the crystals. That I think is brass. I try and separate magnetic pins from non magnetic. Not sure It matters but it's what I do.

I find myself spending a load of time pulling the smallest pieces of metal (like tension springs) from plastics. It’s unfortunate not all the plastics can be recycled.
