Got a question, is there anyone that won't watch the complete process videos and choose to watch the condensed version? I guess I can see 2 reasons someone would choose to watch the short over the full version. One their time just won't allow or they are only interested in seeing the yield percentage. I've watched hundreds of videos like this so I know what to expect to see, but sometimes you throw a curve ball and I'll learn new things! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!! Have a Great Day My Friend!!!

Ok I'm confused. Someone please help! He show that bar weighs 40grams which would be over an ounce and over $2000 of gold but I've owned gold and silver one ounce bullion bars and they look like they are 3x that size at least. This bar looks like the same size as my 10 gram gold or silver bars and I even have 5g bars that look about the same size except they are thinner like as thick as a quarter or nickle and this looks about double that thickness and that's why to me it looks equal to like a 10g bar

Now the confusion has set in. What is the difference between gold plate and gold filled, if gold filled is just plated brass and is the yield percentage different between the two? Is this some of that new covid nonsense. Like the definition of vaccine changing and spatulas now being called slotted turners? PS you're the best creator on KZbin. Not only do you put out entertaining, insightful videos and you also spend time in your comment section. You're the best Sreetips, you do all of that and never ask for donations. Gold plated material has very little gold, almost nothing. Gold filled is a thick coating of karat gold over brass and is about 2.5% pure gold by weight. So 100 grams of gold filled material would contain 2.5 grams of pure gold.

It is non ferris metal and looks like normal wire, yet it has a gold sheen to it. I was trying to think of what to do with it when I came across one of your videos. From there the natural course of action is to contact you and see what your thoughts are on what I have here. Any help would be appreciated, kind regards. Dar I do have a picture of the metal in question should you want to help. Thanks again.

Might be gold filled wire. Gold filled is a thick coating of karat gold over base metal, usually brass or copper. Can tell If it’s GF by applying a drop of 14k test acid directly on the wire. If it’s GF then the acid won’t react at all. If it’s gold plated then the acid will eat through, turn green, bubble and stink.

Why does the GF foils dissolve in AR at 14k when carat scrap doesn't?
@xenaguy01
@xenaguy01 3 жыл бұрын
The GF foils have already had the base metals and presumed alloyed silver dissolved by the nitric acid bath. So the remaining GF is nearly 99% pure gold. Carat scrap needs to be alloyed down to about 25% gold or less. This 14k GF already had only 3% gold.

Yes he recoups his stock pots. He soaks his copper nitrate in steal to remove the copper and uses lye to neutralize the solution after the copper is removed. He quarters his gold so the first solution made from the gold is silver nitrate. The same solution he makes when dissolving sterling silver.
