Hello my name is Joe Moscato. Iv been Metal Detecting for almost 10 years now and I have such a big passion behind the hobby. In this video I put down my metal detector and only use my eyes. Dead Horse Bay has a lot of history and for one use to be a garbage dump for all of New York City in the late 1800 to early 1900’s. Hope you enjoy my adventure!

If it still had whiskey in it lol it possibly could have been worth £100 - £150 but it's still a lovely shaped bottle. Worth your while to clean and keep. I work in a jewelry factory and I actually make those style of identification bracelets, the clasp is called a sister hook. Considering today's silver prices you got a nice little treasure!

I think that button is from a Navy Peacoat and that compact probably had some sort of cameo in it at one time.

Oh yeah we will all have a blast there at Dead Horse Bay, so many goodies to be found. I don’t mind a light rain but dam it started getting heavy. I just spray a little rainex on my body and I’m good to go lol

Thanks man yeah I don’t understand how salt water environment kept that button looking so well preserved. Strangely Iv found large cents looking like new being found on the beach but only if they were found high up on the beach. That’s awesome! Thanks for watching

Hello babyrazor and Happy New Year! I believe it’s said to be off limits but there are no gates locked or signs posted saying keep out. I do know people still go there today and some everyday to collect bottles and items. I did hear there was radiation found on the south east corner of the beach. I stay away from that area and It smells strong of something over there. If you happen to go there I would definitely recommend wearing good rubber gloves for safety as I was not doing in my video at the time. Can you take stuff home from the beach? I’m wanting to go, but what should I do to wash off the radiation from the objects I find?

Yea you can take stuff home. It’s honestly a great way in cleaning up that beach. It might not seem like much but if we all chip in it all adds up. As far as finding and carrying stuff out of there I recommend wearing rubber gloves from start to finish. At the time of my video I wasn’t wearing gloves cause I wasn’t aware of the radiation. So from the point of finding stuff to the point I bringing it home and cleaning it with dish soap I’m wearing rubber gloves. After that I put it on my display shelf where I don’t touch it again. But if you ever want to touch it after that and maybe move it around I still recommend having gloves on. I’m not an expert in knowing about radiation but always better to be safe. Hope this helps 👍🏼

Question- is it legal to remove anything from Dead Horse Bay? I heard that it is protected.

Your not actually allowed to take anything from Dead Horse Bay. But at the same time there are toxins leaking into the harbor killing the Marine life and the government isn’t doing anything about it since this problem has started. So with that my feelings are if I can go there and help clean up a little each time then that’s a plus in my book. I don’t only take the good but also take the bad. I do encourage anyone who goes there to where rubber gloves 🧤at the time of my video I wasn’t wearing gloves cause I wasn’t aware of the toxins. Hope this helps you with you question about Dead Horse Bay and remember to stay safe 🧤
