You have to be VERY careful with craft glitter. I actually just seen this video on Facebook of a girl who used craft glitter and a piece fell in her eye and cut her cornea.. it ended up getting so infected, they had to take her eyeball out and she got a prosthetic eye. 😱😱😱 sooo scary..

My best friends husband is an ophthalmologist and you have no idea how many times he comes home with stories of people using unsafe things around their eyes, especially glitter. It can not only cut your eye, it can also get lodged in your eye under your lid and cause the worst infections. And what's close to your eyes? Your brain!! Craft glitter isn't safe because it's not sanitary. It's is soooooo not sanitary and should never ever be put on your eyes. I know that Desi is a very skilled makeup artist and so are so many other people, but even the most skilled can't keep stuff from falling in their eyes!!

To start, by no means is this to sound mean. If you could hear my tone of voice, just know I'm speaking in a soft voice lol. I agree can now (from reading comments and seeing that article) that glitter is dangerous for your eyes. However, I and I'm sure along with many others, never knew that it was so dangerous. She did tell you not to use glitter like this. I see that some are cursing at her to tell her she's stupid for not saying "do not use glitter" in a stronger manner. She's a creative and amazing make up artist. She was trying a new beautiful look and sharing it with us. She never told you to recreate it and use tons of glitter. She was very careful. She inspires so many and again, thankfully, she was safe and glitter did not end up in her eye. To those calling her names or stupid, have some respect and stop. I don't want anyone to comment and fight me. If you have nothing nice to say, please don't reply. Of course you can write your feelings on this post if you feel you need to. Specifically craft glitter, mind you. Cosmetic grade glitters are cut in a way so that they cannot damage your eye.

Even some cosmetics glitters are not safe,and you should check if they are actually approved for use around the immediate eye are. Some examples are most shades of NYX face and body(this got me a nice corneal abrasion),MAC,MUFE..but there are so many brands that sell cosmetic safe glitter that has a much lower risk of harming you.

I personally do not understand why people have to make such fuss about Desi using craft glitter on her eyes. If you don't want to use it, then just don't do it. End of story! Just because someone else had a bad experience doesn't mean it's going to happen to every one. I have used glitter for years and never had anything bad happen to me. Some people it's just too irresponsible and rub the shit out of their eye and even sleep with their makeup on. That it's a big no no! With or with out glitter, you should never do that. If people aren't responsible enough to take care of their eye properly then they should not wear makeup at all. So stop with the bullshit and go find something else to watch because obviously you knew from the beginning that she had used craft glitter to achieve that look. So don't pretend you didn't know. Also don't be so naive. This is her job! She only does this for footage then removes the makeup as soon as she's done. If you follow her on Snapchat you should now that by now. So stop worrying about her and worry about yourself. Be extra careful when you have glitter on your eyes! Cosmetic or not.

I-Am-Not-A-Robodt I'm not sure if you noticed but she did say to not use craft glitter and she even wrote in the video that she suggests you use a cosmetic glitter instead. Although I don't approve of her using the craft glitter on herself we don't know if she didn't have time to go get cosmetic glitter just for his video and since at least where I am from it is impossible to find in stores and to order it online I'd probably only receive the glitter after a month or two

desi i love you but this is so reckless of you to advertise using craft glitter in your video, craft glitter should NEVER be used anywhere near the eye. craft glitter is very sharp and can cut your cornea and possibly cause blindness. ONLY use cosmetic glitter, it isn't sharp.

Have fun at the ER. and it's really shady for desi to favorite this,only shows how immature she is. Craft glitter has sharp edges that can cut your eye and get stuck under your eyelid,like any other small sharp particle. It's not rocket science and it happens way more than you think.
