Mr Campbell, I always enjoy your videos. but , you are uninformed about some facts on this one, living in Utah and as of today i am buying goldbacks at $3.50 in a dip from U.P.M.A. (our pm depository in Utah) I will hold these until spot price goes up and then use at the stores that except these including my eye doctor, in which i will get spot plus of current value, which will more than make up for the premium at original purchase. Utah passed the Legal Tender Act back in 2011 which excepts gold and silver as legal tender. A lot of our farmers markets will exchange with goldbacks and silver. I greatly appreciate you and your content, come to Utah and i will show you around. Again, i do like your channel. Take care

I appreciate your insight and support! I think in my very first goldback video, I discussed the points you mentioned. The goldback is decent in the states where they are accepted. In CA, I doubt we will ever see a bill allowing gold and silver as legal tender. Which is funny since the Constitution already grants every state this "right". If I'm ever in Utah, I'll take you up on your offer. 😎👊

Which is better? Better for what? Both great but 2 separate use cases. Being in a Goldback state I can spend them for an average of about 9% more than what I payed for them. I can sell them back without losing the premium. I can carry $1000 in Goldbacks with just 5 gold bills, how much constitutional would you have to haul around (235 quarters)
@CampbellsCoins Жыл бұрын
EXACTLY. This video use case was simply daily transactions and was stated as such. Daily transactions aren't meeting you $1000 example. And if I were transacting in that amount, five tenth oz gold eagles would easily fill that role without paying the extreme premium of goldbacks. Who are you selling to where you aren't losing the premium? Online dealers and LCS buy these for $1.75-$2 resulting in a 40% hit minimum.
@Fineonee Жыл бұрын
@@CampbellsCoins you make a valid point on the tenths but if bought and spent today you’d lose money on your coins. They’d probably give spot just like these dealers are giving for Goldbacks, if they take them at all for services rendered. If I’m stacking for weight then I’d go constitutional but not for my personal daily. I can spend GBs for more than today’s purchase price. How many people are going to give 17x of face value for junk? If you’re not in a position to spend GBs I can totally understand why you’d think junk is better. Day to day GBs can get you food, massages, dentistry a mechanic and even a chartered flight. I live in one of the 3 bordering states that all accept GBs so thats why they work better for me. Hundreds of real life use’s already in place. 5th state is coming this year with plenty more in the wings waiting to jump aboard. I am a member of UPMA.org and I buy and hold some Goldbacks there. I have a small recurring buy order every month and just pull them out as needed. I can even link a debit card up to my account and spend an unlimited amount of PM at places that don’t even accept metals. Also the 0% spread and free exchange of a Damaged GB. Buying from APMEX or Ebay is the wrong way to acquire them. Alright thats my schill for GBs 😁, have a good week CC

Another difference between goldbacks and constitutional silver (i.e. dimes, quarters and halfs) is the coins are no longer minted. Finite quantity. Goldbacks, in current production. And the premium will disappear since you bought them with rapidly diminishing value fiat. In 6 months the intrinsic value of the GB will exceed the premium you paid.

"Goldbacks were a solution to a problem we don't have?" I strongly disagree. Right now we can't even get people to realize the Federal Reserve is NOT federal! Using junk silver in circulation still requires educating the buyer or seller. Also the small coins are easier to lose or confuse with other modern day silver currency. The primary benefit of goldbacks is the educational value. I think goldbacks sell themselves MUCH better. I don't consider them a store of wealth, but an excellent icebreaker for communities struggling to realize what is happening to their wealth.

@@Yankee_Doodle_Stacker I hear your point. I watched Campbell's video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3q7n2iuoteHp9U which says goldbacks are not for "stackers' and I think I agree-- if a stacker is somone who wants to store value over time. But my initial statement still applies in that I think the largest problem we face is first a matter of education. If you hand someone an old silver dollar you know is worth many more times the face value, the mere fact it was minted as something a person knows has a cheap fiat modern equivalent makes your job in education much more difficult. If you first ask if they will take a goldback, or leave one as a tip, the novelty is broached first and the education happens naturally. I don't naturally gravitate toward "stacking" as I think I'd much rather have something I can barter with that has obvious value-- liquor, tobacco, coffee, lead, ammo, canned goods, etc. Right now I think most of us are at the stage we wish we lived in more worth preserving savvy communities for when SHTF, and even broaching this topic is difficult. I think maybe most of the folks watching this channel are NOT in that mindset (you are already a "stacker" and ahead of the game). Hopefully you also have a strong community that appreciates wealth preservation-- for all involved in your local commerce.

@@CampbellsCoins The main issue with layperson and goldbacks is convincing them it's actual gold. Once you can do that, it's easier to get them to accept that it's 1, 5, 10, 25 or 50 1000th units of gold. The term "goldbacks" helps reenforce that since many people understand what a greenback is. Also, they are much shinier looking works of art than junk silver! 🙂 The artwork helps the perception of value as well; people like shiney things! 😂😂😂😂 Wizardry!? OMG I love it and I appreciate your videos keep it up. Listen I get how you feel about the gold backs and to be honest I feel the same way. However there is a particular detail that's important to both constitutional silver and gold backs and that is a lack of education. Some places now may not know what exactly is the gold back and what is good for, you would have to educate them or driving to the website for them to see and read and educate themselves. So that would require an individual to at least talk to the owner or direct them to the website. That's a constitutional silver a lot of people may just look at it as a coin as an everyday corn and not really care about the significant difference of the silver. These factors only really matter to the silver stacker and the gold stacker. So it's up to the gold stacker and the bullion dealers or the gold back creators to educate the public about these items. Which I heard Iowa or some other states are wanting to make actual currency now out of golden silver considering the issues were having with our current government and monetary system. This could be a good thing or bad depending who's against gold and for the theiat dollar versus who's for the gold and who's not for theiat

You make some good points for sure. But I think the stacking community perhaps misunderstands the purpose of the Goldbacks. They do seem to be making a mark in the collecting community, but they were never intended for collecting or stacking purposes. They are a response to the rapidly declining value of the US dollar. Their intended purpose is to be used as an alternative means to the dollar in exchanging goods for services. They are meant to be circulated. Will they hold up to being used in everyday transactions? That remains to be seen. To say they are an answer to a problem that doesn't exist is to ignore the problems we currently face with the devaluation of the dollar and the threats to the dollar as the basis of international exchange and also threats by CBDC, etc. Are Goldbacks better than constitutional silver? Maybe. Maybe not. Keep in mind, constitutional silver coins aren't being minted any more (discounting Silver Eagles) and will likely not be available in sufficient quantities should the time come where their use is meaningful. Will Goldbacks be available in quantity? At least they are currently being produced. Also keep in mind that, when US coins were being minted of 90% silver, the value of the silver content could not exceed the face value of the coin. Hence, one of the reason today's coins are not minted of silver. The fact that Goldbacks don't contain as much gold as the published exchange rate is comparable, to a degree. The cost of Goldbacks is definitely an issue. If they are ever to catch on, an individual should be able to acquire Goldbacks at the published exchange rate and not more. That is like going to the bank to exchange your quarters for dollars and having to give over $1.25 in quarters to get a $1 bill. Goldbacks are an experiment but could become useful for circumventing the tracking features of a CBDC.

Why would you do that? Makes no sense. Would you melt down a car for its steel and aluminum content? A GoldBack has its highest value as a manufactured item for exchange in the market for goods and services.

Hands down silver. The idea behind Goldbacks is sound. I agree stacking Goldbacks isn’t a good idea but I own one each of the four state series and am eyeing the North American Wildlife series. Will they become viable or collectible? Don’t really care. It’s my tiny way of helping the sound money movement. Peace Brother.

Nope, actually i bought them for less then exchange rate. Im up .$31 per single unit from purchase price. If chemicals are used to aquire gold, you get the actual weight. I paid $ 3.91 per $1. Presently a goldback is $2.43 in gold per $1 goldback.

Goldbacks are basically worthless novelties. Sorry, just my personal opinion. Very selective clientele and hard to sell or trade.

You’ve tipped me into NOT getting the GoldBacks. I was on the verge of getting a few $$$thousand$$$ of these but never clicked the buy button. Now thanks to your EVER CLEAR REASONING I won’t. Its’ double the price of Spot Gold when the premiums are in the price of purchase…
@TheItalianPepe Жыл бұрын
Then don't buy a few $$$thousand$$$ of them then. Just grab a few or several of the 1/1000 and call it good...

"Goldbacks offer a solution to a problem we don't have'. I respectfully disagree. Many times in history humanity has only transacted in gold and many times, especially right after the Vietnam War when many Vietnamese were fleeing, the only way to purchase their freedom was using Kim Thanh 24k gold bars. Very similar to goldbacks. Not saying we'll need goldbacks to flee for our lives but I found it an interesting similarity. Also, we haven't seen goldbacks in circulation, certainly not as long as junk silver, so we have no real sense of how long they'll last. As stated in another video, don't overdo it on these. They do indeed have a large premium, however they do make a nice addition to your gold stack. Especially if you live in a state that has legalized gold/silver as legal tender. Not to mention, this only makes more sense now that more states on hopping on the legalize precious metals train. Pasting a comment I've made on another video you've made regarding goldbacks. Sorry the long comment. "I believe goldbacks are a great option to have some variety in gold stacking and the possibility to make change if the transaction is to be only done in gold. However as you rightly stated, they're terrible in terms of premium. So in my humble opinion having a small amount is great most especially if the state you reside in legalizes gold/silver as legal tender, just don't overdo it. On a different note, if one is to decide on fractional gold, a gram vs a 25gb is not much different. Both are going to cost around $85, even though they're worth in the ballpark of $65. Awesome video man! Keep it up!

I can’t see these goldbacks ever replacing constitutional silver. I’m not too thrilled about any aspect of buying Goldbacks, whereas there is no downside to stacking Constitutional Silver.

I’m not into the Gold backs or Constitutional Silver/ 90% Silver. If I was forced to choose between the two I would choose 90% Silver.

Junk silver is better because they can be used throughout the US. Goldbacks can be used only in a few US states.

Please CC, why would you want to make RipOffMex wealthy, by throwing away your hard earned money on a piece of Monopoly Money. You don’t really believe that these will go up in value, do you? Bring them to a coin shop, and most will laugh a little, then ask you to kindly leave the store. O.K., maybe they don’t go that far, but many want nothing to do with them. So, the answer to your question is…stick to government constitutional silver, if you wanted to be taken seriously.

Check out any of my Goldback vids Victor. Not a fan of them. Constitutional silver all the way baby!
@christripptripp797 Жыл бұрын
Using APMEX to show the price isn't an honest representation. You can get them at half that price through defythegrid, alpine, etc. You also don't lose your premium....another consideration should be the inability to counterfeit these compared to currently being counterfeited coins floating around. The true answer to the question should be a little of both and that the point of both are physical money over worthless currency.
