I think calling it a "Premium" is sort of a misnomer. As most other Gold products are looked at based on their melt value. But you couldn't say melt a 1oz gold bar or coin and turn it into 100 goldbacks. Similarly the likelihood you would sell a goldback for its melt value is unlikely so long as there are people out there who view them as valuable. So the only way the increased cost could be considered a "premium" is if goldbacks stop being exchanged at their purchase exchange rate, which is an unlikely scenario. I won't call it zero. So I think it's the wrong way of looking at it. For example if I buy 100 goldbacks at $5 each for $500, and then the price go gold doubles, those goldbacks are now worth $1,000, unless everyone in the world stops caring about goldbacks and only sees them for the melt value. Which I think is unlikely due to their very nature of being fractional. They have more utility for bartering. I wouldn't put all my money in them. but if I'm buying $1000 worth of precious metals I might be $200-300 worth of Goldbacks. If the company making them folds I think they'll actually go up in value because there is a finite amount and people like collecting finite things.

I don't have any of them, but will buy some from every state that issues them. They are beautiful and I'm a collector & stacker. These are oddities to me, I guess I could trade them in the future.

It looks like buying Gold in the USA is quite expensive?. In our country, there is only one place where we buy 24k gold (No Brand), and the price is the same regardless of the gram. That's why no matter how small (1/2 gram, 1 gram..) I just keep on stacking up whenever I have extra.

I've seen a video of a man that folded and was unkind to his Goldbacks. They peeled apart at the corners and looked horrible in general. They just aren't durable and feel wrong (metallic/plastic)... can't accept that. They LOOK great... feel awful. I wanted these to work.

As long as I get the original one that’s most important to me for now 😅 they say it’s pricey to buy on APMEX but didn’t wanna risk buying via eBay as I’m new to collecting precious metals. And id rather buy at a premium price from a legitimate seller than risking getting a fake one 😅

Not only should you buy gold now, you should be prepared to buy much more of it when it inevitably crashes to $400-600 territory. That's when everyone should have bought and they didn't. Why? Gold doesn't need to be backed by anything, it's what the dollar used to be backed by. The only thing the face value on those coins represents is trade in value for worthless bank notes and that's why the gold standard was removed once the Fed realized they screwed up by printing so many dollars that they wouldn't have enough gold to pacify an angry mob of people who want their pay in the event of a market crash. Had every citizen lined up and demanded 1 Oz gold coins for $50, $20, and so on then they wouldn't even have enough silver to make up for the lack of gold. There would be bloodshed.

Interesting. Go to Nevada. Buy an American Gold Eagle and a 1 0z PAMP (or any other brand) gold bar. NV taxes coins (remember, coins have a value stamped on them, round precious metal is a round), they don’t tax bullion. You’ll pay tax on the AGE, but not on the bar as the bar is bullion … the AGE isn’t.

Goldbacks offer more utility than any other gold option at this time. Sure, silver is ideal. Most people rather have gold. My stack of Goldbacks are up 65%. I'm good with them.

I try to get them for around gold spot off of local marketplaces and stack them. They look cool and are easier to acquire than gold coins due to cost of entry....it's real gold, yo!

I'm scheduled to buy a Buffalo tomorrow and I'm stoked. It's a proof and it is not cheap....$2800 but with spot at $2781 I feel like it's a decent deal.
