Yet another great interview by John Robb - as ever really letting the interviewee speak and give them space - a really rare trick.

I can always depend on Julian’s special talent of being able to say incredibly smart, profound things that are understandable enough to not make you feel stupid.

Nice interview, John! I've met a few detractors of Julien's over the years, but he comes across as very interesting and likeable. I have always enjoyed the films of his I've seen, too. Good job!

24 mins in talking about "rock n roll swindle" reminds me of seeing it in the cinema in Morecambe - we all (Morecambe Punks) got up and pogoed to My Way "Prancing Pogo Punks" was the byline in the paper the following week. Good memories.

I mind Ray Davis at Glastonbury in wellies and covered in mud on stage and Van Morrison in prestine attire, probably carried on stage, says it all really...

Don't forget the sex pistols played Liverpool before they played in manchester. don't know why nobody ever mentions that

thanks Gaz - they played Liverpool october 1976 - the night after Birknehad and after Manchester which was July 1976 unless I've forgotten an earlier gig? I don't think the big deal is people thinking they playednManchester gigs before Liverpool plus there were loads of London gigs before that and even Northallerton was the first long drive gig! the deal about Manchester is that is sparked something special...

@@JOHNROBBofficial hi John yeah the only reason i mentioned it was i was watching an interview with Will Sergeant and he mentioned they played Liverpool before playing Manchester he didn't go but Mac did! i didn't as i was only 13 lol. but i just think it's odd the Eric's gig never gets talked about and everyone goes on about the Manchester gig. if you want to watch the Will Sergeant interview it's on a channel called Turned out a Punk

@@JOHNROBBofficial i mean it never gets mentioned that they played Liverpool as if Manchester is somehow more important?! it isn't! i guess they were just another group here in Liverpool we are not that impressed so that's prob why it's not a big deal here

Struck me as interesting that, almost to gain some sort of skewed credibility, Temple identified himself here as being 'middle class'! He is, of course, upper class.

How dull - the great British obsession with class. Are you some working class hero - my guess is a middle aged , middle class tosser underachiever who likes to stalk the internet trolling about subjects that he knows little about.

Personally speaking, I think that those who brought an individuals social class into punk just didn't "get it."

Temple is evasive, shifty cagey. I Don’t believe the story of how he discovered the Sex Pistols 🤭Nice job John.
