I was born a Care Bear - all heart- no boundaries. Over time, I became an alcoholic, overwhelmed with the ugliness of the world, thinking at the time, that things kept happening to me. Now, after doing my own Shadow Work, I realize all of the illogical and irrational pain I endured / happened FOR me. I once read “No one is coming to save you from yourself”. It zapped me, hard. I decided, you know what, it’s time to roll up my sleeves and dive into my very own darkness. Was it easy? Hell to the nah. Was it worth it? 💯. Fully accepting my darkness while also acknowledging all of my light has forever changed my perspective and my peace for the better. I am going to be 2 years sober this august 8th. By practicing this daily I feel free and light and can be refreshingly honest with myself and others. It's not necessary to take oneself so seriously and work too hard on banishing shadows, in my experience. People struggle to integrate their shadow side because of fear of judgement. They often get stuck into a role that they basically give themselves and have the feeling if they suddenly act differently it would contradict this role and others will dislike and not trust them. You need to lose all fear and hope in order to successfully integrate your shadow side into your personality. Let go of envy and accept that your ego is not really you. Don't seperate yourself from others by thinking you're special in any kind of way and accept the fact that we are all the same entity looking at ourselves from another window.

Given how poorly writers, artists, musicians and other creative people are treated by the culture at large, you could argue that a hell of a lot of creativity in the collective unconscious has been repressed into the collective shadow. Perhaps our civilisation needs to put creative people at the heart of our culture if we are ever to bring the collective darkness of humanity into the light. How we do that, of course, is anyone's guess. It also struck me that the fact that so many societies seem to just sweep things like drug use and broader mental health issues under the carpet, that perhaps the collective decision to do this speaks to an aspect of the collective shadow that wants to see individual humans suffer or feels powerless to really help individual humans in our species towards wholeness. It may even be that on an individual basis we love our friends and family but at a collective level we actually despise our own species. If we despise ourselves as a species then it could be that things like global warming are the collective equivalent of an individual engaging in self-harm behaviour and self-sabotage which means that just as an individual with suicidal ideation may cause their families a great deal of pain our collective suicidial ideation is going to be very dangerous to every living thing on this planet.

Kipling's preamble poem at the beginning of "The Jungle Book" addresses the heart of the story: "Tooth, talon, fang and claw..." Refers to the natural weapons of the animal kingdom. Ours is the mind. To enable another's mind is to arm that person with a human degree of autonomy. We will mend each other medically in any other way but that. To heal another's mind is to return them to equality with the rest of humankind. Such trust is the conceptual equivalent of giving a fugitive back a loaded pistol because it belongs to them, not knowing if they are perpetrator or victim, friend or foe.

This is great. I often find the effort to grow in myself so difficult that I absolutely don’t have any time to help other people with their shadows. At the end of the day, even when I grow, I am still labeled as selfish because I just want to be left alone to my own devices, since it is so hard for me to “live a normal life”.

Everyone is selfish. It’s a part of us to be selfish. Every decision and choice we make is selfish. Even the natural choices and processes we have no conscious control over are selfish. Like digesting our food, or the beating of our heart, it is selfish yet we have no control. The self improvement you desire is the reason you haven’t improved. It’s going to feel like pulling yourself into the air by your own boot laces, it’s impossible haha. Look into Allen watts and what he covers, I believe he could show you something you already have saw yet haven’t noticed.

I hear you (listening) ! It is indeed a challenging process, which draws on all our strength to achieve. But unless I misunderstood your words, Nobody should feel that they are obliged in any way to help others with their shadow work - (unless maybe, someone specifically asks for help from you). Unless you happen to be a very unique, advanced and enlightened soul, It’s not your job to save other people from themselves. The only way to help others, anyway, is to first help yourself. That way, you are raising the consciousness of all those around you. I think this concept has been studied and proven at various times. As far as labels go, what ppl label you as, or judge you as, is merely a reflection of their own state of mind, thought processes or level of consciousness. It has nothing at all to do with you and what kind of person you are, and therefore must be taken with a grain of salt. Needing to be left alone during periods of introspection, growth and and so forth, is completely normal and to be expected - certainly not selfish - merely a requirement or necessity. Anybody who judges another in that regard, is ignorant and not a friend. This kind of person may need to delve into their own psyches, and ask themselves why they have come to such a conclusion. It’s possible that they have not afforded themselves the right to be ‘selfish’ during times of growth, and therefore feel triggered when seeing others who are able to do so. Who knows. I’ve realised that most people have very little or no knowledge about the internal life of others, yet find it so easy to come to all manner of conclusions and judgements about their character, and the flaws they surely must have. Personally, I empathise with you in regards what you said about wanting to be left alone to your own devices, because it’s so hard for you to live a normal life. I can’t possibly know exactly what you mean, however I have this feeling that if people quit judging you, and were more accepting and compassionate of you and your circumstances, you may find it easier to live a normal life - whatever that is. I wonder to myself - who’s normal ? What’s a normal life anyway ? Maybe you’re normal, and the rest are abnormal 🙄 . Society doesn’t embrace the differences in people - the challenges some ppl have with their health, especially what’s termed as mental health - differences in neurology - differences in beliefs - personality - appearance - and more… I hope you find peace and acceptance in your life. ✌️🌈🙏

In my experience this video says it all, the outside is a reflection of our inner being, the world's sufferings is the result of the masses of traumatised people's suppressed pain on the inside that has not been addressed. Most people are walking around on auto pilot and don't even know it, I did not know it, until that is I began to dig deep, and uncover my anher, fear and released my sadness which has become stagnant inner stormy seas. Once we express our sufferings and acknowledge our childhood experiences that were stored away in the memories of our waters, we can cleanse the body of those stuck emotions, energy not in motion, and cry them out, replacing them with clear crystal waters calm inner waters, that give us eyes to see. Dreams are a way of helping us understand our fears, and show.us where we are in our spiritual growth. Dreams have helped me.us inner-stand my self, and has brought up a lot of memories I had forgotten. Quote by an American Indian "There is no rainbow in the soul, when there are no tears"

When training in a psychology-related field, we only touched on Jung in an abbreviated way, while other popular psychology was promoted. I took it on myself to study Jung as he resonated the most. I spent an entire decade in the 1990s, reading everything I could. The shadow and the shadow collective are some of the most important aspects. A lesson to not go along with it right now is important. Social media and propaganda sway people in an instant it becomes a fever. Alongside the covid pandemic is a psychotic pandemic. It's actually hard to meet people who are not in the grip of it from the uneducated to the professional. Narcissism is on the rise too. The other important aspect of Jung is self-awareness. Examining your own human aspects that are not perfect but being aware of it and being able to stand back and reflect on how it is affecting you in the present moment, can actually make you stronger to-not go along with it

Hello Jackie, one of my very favourite books. The thing is Mr Hyde was invented because Dr Jekyll wanted to get away with doing evil stuff, he just didn’t expect to loose control and this darkness scared him. He was no nice innocent guy. It also looks to the collective darkness in repressive Victorian England where the upper class hid behind tightly buttoned up shirts but were doing nasty things in the night that the poor and innocent paid for. The ego often tricks the unaware into a false sense of self. I was completely unaware of it, the only reason I became aware of it was because I experienced a dark night of the soul, an ego death, more of a reset really, because the ego is still within me, it is just that I became aware of it after the dark night of the soul and only now do I know to always keep it in check. I no longer let it control my thoughts or actions. I resist the ego and resist any and all darkness that lies within me. How people are expected to keep it in check while being constantly distracted is beyond me. It’s almost as if society is being steered towards making it an impossibility to keep it in check. I think there are those who see the ego as being something they wish to leave unchecked, meaning they don’t have to worry about self control, I think they long for freedom and the only way they can be truly free is without self control, without any limits placed upon the ego. To me being truly free means being strong in mind. To know unequivocally of who we truly are and the only way to do that is by resisting the darkness within us and letting the good within us flourish rather then allowing the ego to crush that goodness within. For that goodness within are our true selves, to truly be free we must control our own darkness, never to allow it to control or dictate any of our thoughts or actions any longer.

Absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much for your enlightening and excellent work. The effort you put into researching these topics, matching the ideas presented with thematically relevant paintings, and then adapting it all into this format is astounding. I'd like to add this quote from Carl Jung about being wary of condemning the collective shadow with such bitterness that we fall into its inward form, described in 07:09 as "hatred toward oneself, one's heritage, and one's culture, depression, feelings of impotence, and the desire for revenge". Jung says, "Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves," and he also states "we cannot change anything until we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses." As for the personal shadow ruling over us when we lack awareness of it, he says, "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." Shadow work is indeed difficult, and self-education is a life-long process. Jung reminds us, "There is no coming to consciousness without pain." I will end my post with two quotes that concern shadow work. "But it is the same with man as with the tree. The more he seeks to rise into the height and light, the more vigorously do his roots struggle earthward, downward, into the dark, the deep - into evil." - Friedrich Nietzsche "No tree can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell." - Carl Jung

It is what makes me irritated when dealing with other humans and it is what keeps me living as a social recluse. Now I just need to figure out what to do. Noticed the painting at 6:00 from the polish surrealist painter Zdzisław Beksiński. If you haven't explored his works further I think you'll find them very interesting. There are many works of his which are deeply existential and philosophical. Decay and rigidity continually presents itself in his works.

I've been trying to find things to better help me explore my inner self and have more control over the things in my life, wether that be in the conscious or unconscious state of mind. I'm so glad I found this... A couple nights ago I was in severe anxiety and physical pain (broke my tailbone)... I was bored and became fixated on a shadow I talked to it (lonely I think).. And it grew into something I quickly drew... I was terrified by it and it was horrible... I'm not necessarily religious and I couldn't explain what I saw or understand it... I Google searched what I could characterize from my drawings and found your videos. The next time I come face to face with my shadow I'll be mentally prepared. I just can't believe how many pieces of artwork depict what I saw. In so many different time periods and places. It scared me at first but intrigues me now.

@@whitedragoness23 Spiritual alchemy is called "spiritual alchemy" to separate it from its practical form of chemistry or laboratory alchemy. It has nothing to do with one specific culture, because all cultures have it. Don't listen to these people here. In spiritual alchemy, we take our flaws and our vices and we transform them into virtues, just as baser metals are transformed into precious metals in chemistry. It's also called sublimation. Hope that helps.

I started meditating a bit over a year ago. One of the very first things I see when I go deeper is this black figure akin to a male come into view. It has no features; but I have seen my shadow-dark side manifest into the real world. I've done things I never thought I would. I was abusing certain compounds lets say. I've gone through a lot of the scenarios that happened during that time, and it feels like I was a totally different person. I've known of my demons for a long time. I even had a good friend of mine tell me how he saw that I recognized my demons, but it wasn't until I started to mentally decline and go into deep depression due to the abuse of compounds that it fully manifested. Plenty of work to be done, and there's always work to be continued. Thank you for your video. I appreciate it as I'm sure many other do. All the best

One must not change to order of the shadow till they have fully explored it. Doing so can lead to dire consequences. Possibly symptoms simular to bi-polar disorder or even schizophrenia. Remember you aren't on the outside looking. Through glass stone sour explains it very well metaphorically. The best thing you can do is find someone that trains "empty mind" in Tai Kwon do. It is very relevant to separation of the mind and the soul. It allows you to hear the whispers more clearly so you can learn how to cut through the noise. ( "null and void instead of voices" ). It is hidden in music. Once we get it used to be exposed we will start the darker examinations and introduce the true meaning behind a lot of RHCP songs.

It's very reassuring to hear that knowing ones shadow or even knowing that one has a shadow is a good thing. I am well acquainted with it. I sense it all the time. But I hate violence and I hate hurting people. Their feelings their hopes. It's my desire to be a good person. That makes me aware of it and has kept me in control of it most of my life. I'm sure I've been careless and hurt a lot of people. I'm not always self aware. But it can make you feel guilty having a shadow. It's nice to imagine everyone has one and that a persons character is what counts.
@khajiithadwares22632 жыл бұрын
Shadowplay is just the work of the ego, and its ability to projects it own flaws, faults and jealousies on other people instead of reflect them onto one's self and dissolve them once and for all or at least learn to control them and no longer casts them like stones onto others. Selfish people (controlled by "shadow") see no problem in casting those stones and be violent, greedy because they dont care to acknowledge the shadow's existence, the existence of their own ego. Talking about their own shadows or egos is tantamount to a personal attack to such a person. Our journey through life is set so that we come from shadow and into the light, with trauma and loss fueling this transition and speeding our arrival to the waking world. Most 'sufferers' of this shadow and drunk on their own ego are the materially rich-spiritually poor, the powerful but inexperienced/directionless, the young, but naive.

@@deanchur The natural human reaction is to reject and have a hostile type of feeling towards criticism. Normal people don't want to hear about the many flaws they have and we all have. So pushback is predicted but the question is to what degree. If a person can be pushed and used emotionally in such a way to produce physical violence then they need mental help of some kind because they've shut the door to learning anything new. If they take the criticism and have a questioned reaction to it, then there is the possibility of the person opening up to a deeper conversation. Most people just think others are trying to be rude to them by asking questions but they find themselves even more irritated when they can't seem to find any answer to the question and reduce themselves to name calling instead of having a good conversation with their fellow man. In my opinion of course.

@@gregl6759 Agreed. Shadow work isn't for the faint of heart, and even though I haven't done as much work on mine as I can (and never will because the work never ends), it has changed me; I don't get angry at people any more because I'm concerned that I'll let something slip that forces something out of the other person's shadow and breaks them in the process. As Muslims, we believe in what we call "Qareen" ( literally means 'companion') which is basically a type of Jinn (demon) that is somewhat a part of you, but also is autonomous and thinks independently and will live on long after you die (they pretend to be the souls of the dead person they used to be with, when people naively try to communicate with their dead ones) He is feral, dark, and mischievous and all around an extremely bad influence over you. And his sole purpose is to drive you as far away from God as possible!.....The closer you are to God, practice selflessness, do good, help others, stay honest to yourself...etc, the more subdued your Qareen becomes and the easier it is for you to control him and shut his hisses and whims down. The more selfish you are, indulge in hedonistic desires, give in to temptations, hurt people and do bad things, the more prevalent he becomes in your mind, and the more power and control he has over you and your decisions!

But you’re not really a Muslim. You’re a human being who’s been trained to tell other people (and yourself) That you are a Muslim. Example: There is no such thing as a Muslim blood type. There is no such thing as a Muslim brain, or Muslim skin, or Muslim eyes. You are just another man, who’s wrapped tightly in the idea of being a Muslim.

Also, you said we should practice selflessness. If we actually took that advice, in a blanket way, we would all perish. You would have to be selfish to hunt and kill that animal, in order for you and your family to survive.
