Great to see Goldbridge back! His take on Utd is spot on, it feels as though nothing has changed from last season. Has to be said though, Jackson wasn't a striker when he went to Chelsea and scored 17 non-penalty goals in his first season, he's only just turned 23 and only cost 30M (peanuts in striker terms!). I think comparing him to Toney and Watkins is a bit rich when they were playing in the Championship (or League One in Toney's case) at his age.

You wont get 100% consistancy from any human being though, thats just how it is even with VAR as long as its humans controlling it. Sometimes you'll be at the wrong end of it and sometimes you'll be at the right one. Their job is to keep the inconsistancies to a minimal not eliminate them completely. Pedro should probably have had a yellow card but just because a ref overlooks something doesn't mean its okay to do and players know this.

The first goal is as much if not more down to De Ligt being new as it is on Casemiro for the pass in the first place, it's a poor pass, sure, but it's also really good anticipation from Gravenberch, but once the attack starts De Ligt makes the wrong decision, Casemiro was tracking back to cover jota until he saw De Ligt, at which point he goes to cover off the pull back to Gravenberch. Had De Ligt maintained his width and let Casemiro do what he's supposed to when they lose the ball in that situation which is drop in and play as a 3rd centre back they would've made it much more difficult for us to score.

On your discussion of Mo Salah - I'm a Liverpool fan, and I love Mo Salah, but he hasn't done it for a decade. He came to Liverpool in 2017. Also, the reason he does not get mentioned in Ballon d'Or conversations is probably because trophies matter a lot there. National team results matter a lot as well. Mo Salah could only have counted in Ballon d'Or conversations when Liverpool won the CL or PL, and probably the fact that he's Egyptian and not Brazilian has held him back there. Sadio Mane, I think, did get as high as 2nd one season, so Liverpool players have gotten in those conversations in their most successful seasons.

13:16 Casemiro's lost of form is not due to his age, but due to the coaching he is getting at Manyoo. I am a Liverpool fan, and I rate many Manyoo players quite highly. The problem is teamwork, and until ETH started training them to play as a team and not individually, you could bring in 10 Ugartes, and it is still not going to solve the problem.

On the ball, off the ball, tactical positioning, etc. There’s a reason why Klopp tried for a 6 last season and settled with Endo and now Slot was looking for a 6 as well. Clearly it shows they don’t have a proper 6 in the club and decide to put Gravenberch in there and he has been outstanding.
