He hurt Leslie a ton, but he didn’t really care. The moment he knew, was when he found out about her finances. On the episode with the overnights he was not thinking positively about Teresa. He was thinking about Leslie. It was exactly when Teresa told him about her lucrative career that his eyes lit up and his entire demeanor changed. All the sudden he was positive about Teresa. Go watch that episode. He totally lied to Leslie! And this other woman he dated, should have been shared with viewers. I can't stand to look at his creepy face anymore. They should have brought all this up on the show last night. I gave up watching the bachelor shows a few years ago. Got sucked into this. Never again.

It is very easy to feel love for someone when you are caught up in the experience. A very strong like for someone can certainly feel like love in special moments with someone. He felt love for her in those moments. But feelings can be fleeting. Real love revealed itself to him when he made such a profound connection with Theresa. I'm glad the interviewer brought up the allegations of the former girlfriend. It shouldn't be brushed aside because it speaks to his character and integrity. His TV persona was a man who was grieving the loss of his wife and hadn't dated much due to grief. Quickly dating someone else and living with her for 2 almost years, making her pay half, putting her out--these are huge red flags that shouldn't be ignored. The franchise made a lot of money off the Golden Bachelor; the TV Gerry and the real Gerry seem to be 2 different people. Theresa needs to move with caution but she's a little suspect based on her interaction with the woman who told her to "zip it."

@lolacookie453 that would depend on whether he has any certifications or specialty trade qualifications. Starting salary is 23 an hour, but with qualifications you could be looking at 40+. Again, he owns a home and is not hurting for money. Many wealthier indo ideals participated in the show. The whole he is a gold digger trope is absurd on its face.

I know there is a lot of disappointment in many quarters that Gerry did not pick Leslie. I feel Gerry did the right thing for both Leslie and himself by letting her go. Gerry may be a boomer, but he married Toni right out of high school and went on to raise a family with her in conservative Iowa. His life experience was similar to the generation prior to his (and even then the most conservative variant). Leslie is a younger Boomer - the post draft Jones/Wonder Years type - but her whole experience was Gen X. As an entertainer who worked with Prince as one of his dancers, she probably felt pressured to act even younger (and wilder). On Leslie's worse days, she looked like she was in her fifties. On the final show where she confronted Gerry once again and seemed more rested and polished, she looked like she was in her forties. I don't believe that Leslie and Gerry would have made it in the long run. IMO, she's two generations younger, she is used to a faster-paced, more cosmopolitan lifestyle. She'd ultimately hate Gerry for the same qualities that drew her to him. He'd end up looking old and boring and, in view of the fact that he's not as physically fit, she'd spent the last of their years being his nurse. My big hope is that Leslie finds another guy who wants to spend the rest of his life with her, as his wife, but who likes the city and has some experience and comfort with the entertainment and physical fitness industry. I hope he's successful and protective and an all around hero, like her brother Stuart - who I think is awesome.

You're making some excellent points. Both Leslie and Faith were more free spirited and athletic, especially Leslie. They both wanted more stable, long-term relationships. Theresa probably reminded him of his late wife and seems more traditional and doting. However, I think there's a dark side to Gerry. Leslie dodged a bullet.

There were other factors difference in religion, age difference and where they would live. In the fantasy suite they agreed on making a compromise as to where to live. I was thinking Gerry seemed too nice He avoided answering questio about his past. The otherr thing is that this couple are both widowed. Leslie has not resolved her divorces and quickly slid into victim role.However, Gerry really shocker her.
