Anyone who did not take the opportunity to grow up with this band lost out on a whole wonderful world of music that no one else was doing... ie though, that first song is not Candy's going home. It is Candy's going bad!!!!! We all would like to thank Golden earring for all of their efforts for the many, many, many years of musical joy that they brought into our lives. God bless them and God bless. George.. could not imagine growing up in my life in this world not being one of their biggest fans... I GET IT!

mary10000 I think it because the states forgot about them. They didn’t try to reproduce radar love or twilight zone. They played all over the spectrum and radio stations don’t like that. I actually think they were ahead of their time. They need more exposure. Their musicianship is off the charts.

So saddened by the horrible news about guitarist George Kooijmans. The Golden Earring is/ was one of the best rock bands in the world, without overstating this. I wish all the strength for George, his family, friends and his Golden Earring colleagues.... Prayers going up for you, George....🙏

I worked at Mca records in mid 70s to early 80s and got to know how great this band really was.Saw them on New Years eve 1977 open up for Ted Nugent in Atlanta. They rocked the house and blew Nugent away!🎸🧨🎉

Their management never quite understood why they refused to live in America after the succes of Radar Love. They were popular there. But after three months of touring they returned back home to The Hague.

Well, now, nugent is not much anyway, it never was. But, GE have blown away a lot of good bands. They are the Dutch top band. With Boeyen's Vitesse and Brood they were the top 3 big, bigger, biggest bands in the world of Holland. Too bad non of them had a breakthrough in the USA. GE had a great hit with Radar Love, and that's was it. The Cats had two records in the US and also didn't got the change to break through big time !

No one does it like the Earring. I've been a fan since ;Moontan', and the internet has helped me to see and hear a lot of stuff that I'd missed along the way. This '82 video is a great example. As for George's guitar work, I think he's definitely one of the most underrated axemen in rock, probably because of the relative obscurity in the U.S. of the band. Cesar is also an amazing drummer. Who am I kidding? The whole band rocks!!!!!

Saddened by the news of the Earring calling it a day today. Sorry to learn that George is diagnosed with the same condition that took my mother in law four years ago.

Finally got to see them play in London in 2007... and they Rocked!I caught Cesar's Drumstick after Radar Love Drum Solo. Rinus did his crazy Bass Solo too. 40 or so Dutch fans invited back stage, plus me and maybe only one other British Fan. They really appreciated the feedback from us and were all very friendly Guys. (The warm~up Gig in Ipswitch the previous night has been Posted on KZbin a while back). Still think George is the most Handsome Man in Rock n Roll.

MrMatthiasSchneider The Song was released some weeks after this concert had been recorded. So the 'worktitle' was probably "when the bullet hits the bone. The song originally was written by George Kooymans for his solo album. The Earring wanted to quit in those days and George already made plans for his solo album. They decided to make one last album ( Cut) and George used this song for te recording sessions. Then it became a huge hit, and they played on and on and on ...... ;)

I grew up listening to the album Moontan while my mom played this epic record. In the past five years I have researched Golden Earring a lot. Incredibly talented and underappreciated in America, they are the longest lived rock band starting in 1962, still touring and very popular in Scandinavian countries and The Netherlands where they are from. This Rockpalast show is my favorite live performance of theirs', playing most of their best songs and in their prime. George Koomans is an amazing guitarist and song writer who learned a lot from Jimmy Page while touring with Led Zeppelin in the early 70s.

Still remember in 1973 driving a 67" Chevelle Malibu four on the floor, Kragar mags,V/8, Sun Tach, Banana Yellow with black roof, Large round amber flood lamps down low. Riding in the wee hours of the morning & this tune playing on the radio.. Resembled what I was doing....

They faded in and out of popularity in the US in the 70s-80s, but I was hooked from Moontan. I just read the new about George Kooymans having ALS. It's the end of an era.

Back in 1974, during the Quadrophenia tour at MSG, The Who gave what in their own words was the worst concert they ever did. I was there. Thankfully their opening band put on a brilliant show. In fact, The Who were so bad that halfway through their set, the crowd was chanting for Golden Earring to come back on.

@@aldocoffee I had Moontan and Quadrophenia. I listened to a couple of songs on Quad on occasion. I would listen to Moontan all the way through. Golden Earring the better band I think.

Forgive me please, it's George Kooymans that it the kick ass guitarist for Golden Earring. I could probably write a book about just how good each of the four members of this band are.

38 Special toured with Golden Earring as an opening act that same year. It must have been hard to go onstage after them. REAL hard. Its like being blown off the stage by The Who.

deathmetaldouglas69 when they opened for The Who during 1972/73, they were allowed to do an encore because the audience begged for it. Wich was an exception at the time. Roger Daltrey watched them from the stageside and asked their tourmanager ‘ why are these guys still our support act, they need to go out on their own’.
@deathmetaldouglas69

The only thing is that they needed to have a chance to expose themselves to bigger audiences. If they were getting encores being the opening act that may have transferred to record sales. Record sales that might promote them to being the headline act. Not sure if The Who exposure helped them get a hit with "Radar Love" but it would be great to think it did. Funny how both The Who and Golden Earring both still exist.
