This video shows me playing Tina Turner's 'Golden Eye' on Yamaha Electone HX-1. Arrangment, registrations, rythm programming and sequence programming all done by me. Have fun!

I've had an HX-1 for over 10 years, and I never cease to be amazed at how flexible this instrument is. Nice arrangement. Great job.

Very well done. My wife has been wanting me to sell my HX-1 because I haven't used it and still can't play it. I've told her that now that I'm retired, I plan to relearn organ again. Whenever I see a video like this, I'm determined to keep the HX-1 and learn how to play it. Thanks.

Thank you for your kind comments. I wouldn't sell it if I were you. Although it's a bit of a touch cookie, it's an epic instrument to own. Have fun!

Well registered, well arranged, well played, well video'd - an all round good job. It's easy to forget just how good the HX1 was. I remember seeing Max Takano and Chiho Sunamoto playing one years ago - it's a great instrument, but not as easy to play well as later instruments. 5 out of 5.

Interesting! The HX-5 has in fact complete different electronics than the HX-3 or HX-1. The organsound is one I created myself (user voice), and it's probably combined with a FM preset voice.

This was a well thought out and well executed performance. The HX-1 is still a great instrument, but needs some coaxing from the player to deliver its best. Tonneman appears to have put quite a few hours into this, and the result was great.
@Tonneman11 жыл бұрын
The most of the time goes into programming the rhythm and rhythm-sequence. Then comes the registrations. The hardest part of the performance was to figure out how to play the most significant parts of the original with just 2 hands and a foot :-)

You're right. Later Electones, like the EL-series are easier to sound ok. I owned an EL-90, but sold it because it bored me. HX is more of a fun-organ but it requires more creativity to make it sound right.

During the section where you used the pitch wheel, I would have assigned the second expression pedal for that, and I would have created a sequence for the right-kick button on the main expression pedal so you wouldn't have to manually change your registrations mid-performance

Hello Tonneman, reminds me of the name: of an artist called " Haring " which is dutch and his parents decided to call their son " TON " (which means "barrel") So TON HARING (translates to "barrel of haring [fish] !! His parents had a strange sense of humor. But besides this, I just want to comment you for a job well done. As you now know, I also own an HX1 and have posted several songs on youtube as well and know how difficult it is to program this instrument, drums sequences and sounds. I made the mistake of "resetting" my instrument years ago and didn't realize that would change all the preset sounds that were altered by the former owner to the basic default sounds that weren't \ aren't all that great. I also had a pack that had the giovanni strings on them, but I accidentally erased that pack while trying to program some song...... booooohhhhhoooo I was so mad. Never was able to retrieve the sounds on that pack. Anyway it's getting to long of a story here. Job well done, Greetings from Adriaan Laurijsen from Salt Lake City UTAH, USA

the performance is very good and i love this song. After your video, I have bought an electone HX1. Could i have arrange of your sheet with the registrations and the rythm and sequence programming ? Of course, i'm ready to pay you for that. I'm a frenche organ player and my english is not good.
@Tonneman4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lionel, thank you for your response. I don't have the score/sheet of this song, since I played this by heart after analysing the original. And I honoustly don't know if I have stored the registrations, rythms and sequence on floppy or memory pack. I'm extremely busy re-arranging my home studio, so I'm short of time. But if I have some spare time, I will check if I stored this somewhere. However, I expect not to find it....

@@Tonneman Hi Tonneman; Thank you for your fast reply. I'm really disappointed because i found your performance very amazing and I love your arrangement and the voices that you have chosen. Too, the bass are splendid... I hope that you could be found a recording on a floppy or a memory pack. Do you still play on your elctone HX1 ? Best regards lionel

lionel lionel I’m currently experimenting with some synths, so the the HX is just sitting there. My next organ project will probably be on my EL90.

@@Tonneman Hi Tonneman; Me too, I have an electone EL90, actually i have two organs at home, a EL90 and a HX1. I have bought (the last year) the HX1 long after my EL90. The two organs are different but about the HX1, I love the voices FM as well as the numerical effets that I find much better (delay,wah) and the keyboard's sensitivity. I think really that the HX1 is an amazing instrument but more complicated than the EL90.

Granted the presets do leave much to be desired when compared to today's instruments. But the HX-1 is built like a tank. I have one at my job and all the buttons and keys all function nicely and this is on an instrument that was built in 1987...in Japan. What I am getting at is that the new stuff sounds great, but your are luck if it lasts you 5 - 10 years. Besides the HX-1 has midi...so hook it up to a computer and use that as a sound source. That is what I intend to do.

Dónde venden estos instrumentos musicales??
@marcbrasse7474 жыл бұрын
It's nothing new that presets are shaped by songs that where a hit when the instrument was being designed. No reason to complain though if that leads to such excellent sounds sets. But wait a minute! A quick check tells me The HX-1 is from 1987 and Golden Eye from 1995! Something fishy seems to be going on! :-)
