As an Irish person of a certain vintage I thought Kerry nailed her character the best. I knew women like her. Her mannerisms and acceptance of fate was so well acted, and her incredulity of the nonsense was just so brilliantly acted. For me she was the star of this movie.

Loved Kerry in this film. Hadn't seen her before, though I'm Irish and living here all my life lol. Something so deep and spiritual in her performance. Do not lose your accent, Kerry, or dumb it down.

Kerry Condon is great in this and deserves awards for her performance. She has moments of such intensity at times, such powerful emotional outbursts from her that really hammer home the themes of the film. But the film itself is a must-see, and the other main actors are just as strong as she is.

As an American now living in Ireland I am surrounded by people who talk just like Kerry Condon and love it. And "lads" is used for both males and females the way in Chicago we'd say "guys" for both.

The character was so real. She loves her brother but she knows she must make decisions about her own life and what's right for her. She is a bit torn at this crossroad, but she never forgets or turns her back on her brother. A truly remarkable performance

It was filmed on two different Irish islands, not just Inishmore in County Galway, but also Achill Island in County Mayo. The beach with Colm Doherty's house, the pub, the lake, the mountains, the jagged cliffs and the rolling green hills are all Achill Island, County Mayo. Pádraic and Siobhán's house, the stone wall parts, and the sheer cliffs are all Inishmore, County Galway.
