Mark Ruffalo hammed it up in a way I don’t think voters took too seriously, whereas someone like Sasha Barron Cohen could’ve really matched that characters energy. Gosling was also not gonna win cause it’s a Barbie movie. So ultimately rdj and his career narrative is all there was left

De Niro in KOTFN and Ruffaloin Poor Things weee both grreat and it was weird neither won any awards. Gosling in Barbie, too. There was also Charles Melton, who won a bunch of critics awards but then didn't even get an Oscar nomination. There was no reason for RDJ to sweep except it looked like people at some point decuded he would. It was said hs had a "narrative" of trying to get back into serious acting after being "free" of Marvel - which was ridiculous. And is even more so now that we know that he went back to Marvel for a different role right after winning an Oscar.

The issue with the Apprentice is that the movie is not anti Trump enough for the De Niro types. The movie while still being a villain origin story still makes the audience sympathize with him. My mom is MAGA and she loved it.
