I have to agree. Looking back on it, I can't believe Gooding won for that OTT comedic performance in 'Jerry Maguire'. It was a funny movie, but I don't even think he was the best thing about it. Cruise was legitimately funny and charming and I think his great performance got overshadowed by Gooding, even though Cruise was nominated Best Actor. I'm not saying Cruise should have actually won, just that when I re-watch the movie, I find Cruise more tempered and I prefer his low-key humor to Gooding's ingratiating humor. Actually, I even liked the little kid more than Gooding! Lol

Edward Norton is a class act. Even new to the business he delivered such a lovely and sincere speech and was also very humourous and charming. He's been my favourite actor since 1998 after that incredible performance in American History X. So happy he's had so much success.

Yes, he deserved the Oscar. I hear Ed Norton's screen test for Primal Fear became legendary ( all the top casting directors, producers, film executives, and film directors watched his screen test) , and he signed on to Woody Allen's Everybody Says I Love and Milos Forman's The People Vs. Larry Flynt- before Primal Fear was filmed. Now, that is what I call badass. I wish Norton would work often, because he is brilliant.

Norton was complexity ripped off by not getting an Oscar for Primal Fear. Golden Globes are better judges when awarding awards. Just ask Ben Affleck who won a Golden Globe for best director for ARGO but couldn't crack a Oscar nomination. Probably what went against Norton was while critics hailed his performance- Critics bashed the actual movie. In the Oscars generally the film has to be critically loved and a hit to get a look.

Such a fantastic and mesmerizing performance he gave in his debut film of PRIMAL FEAR. So deceptively coy he was. Thought EDWARD NORTON would go on to be a HUGE star but that never really happened. He reminds me very much of TIMOTHY HUTTON. Those to whom much is expected often take a left turn.
