Think I’m gonna get a fe501 this summer and use it for everything. I’ll have a setup for supermoto and a setup for enduro. I think I’m even gonna take it to a motocross track
@IdahoDualSport2088 ай бұрын
It definitely checks all the boxes, more than any other bike. It’s not the best on pavement with knobbies, but a cush hub setup with SM wheels would be great. The motor is brilliant and with the GET ECU, and a few mods it has incredible linear torque that never leaves you bored or desiring more.

The previous gen of husqies were prone to subframe failure, the ktms had a better subframe from that generation. But the 2024 husqies got an upgraded subframe and some other snazzy stuff, I'm goin to pick one up in the next month or two

Thank you! Appreciate the kind feedback. We are very fortunate to live in a state with a ton of riding opportunities, and the 501 fits in almost everywhere.

Ya man, I sold my 23 890R for the 24 500 and never looked back! The 890 was not a lot of fun on single track even with speed. I’m not a tractor type rider but damn I was exhausted. I got the Got sx1, traction control and a few other goodies for the 500. It’s a beast!!!
@IdahoDualSport2084 ай бұрын
I think ideally being able to have a 500/501 and a 890/901 would be the ultimate combo - but I don’t have that kind of money laying around 😅 I absolutely love the 500 platform, and will probably never go without one again.

Great video. What seat are you running? Trying to decide between the Seat Concepts comfort and comfort XL. Thanks!
@IdahoDualSport2088 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! The SC Comfort is plenty seat for me, and is much more streamlined to maneuver around off-road. The XL is a lot wider and makes it harder to move around on the bike when standing. If most of your riding is going to be high speed and sitting, the XL would be a good choice.

Is your drz400 better for adv type riding than your 501? Just wanting to get thoughts from a guy who owns both.
@IdahoDualSport2083 ай бұрын
Ultimately, yes. But I ended up selling the DRZ eventually down the road. As much as I loved it, it didn’t make sense to keep a bike because it was slightly more comfortable on long pavement stints and had longer maintenance intervals. The 501 just outshines it in every single way, especially as soon as you hit the dirt. I’ll eventually buy an adv bike for longer trips to accompany the 501 - but right now I’m just enjoying the heck out of that bike and everything it can do.

Just out of curiosity, what gearing do you use for these 100+ mile loops?
@IdahoDualSport2085 ай бұрын
So I am a bit of an oddball. I run 12/50 about 90% of the time. It hangs in on the short pavement sections and maximizes the torque and linear pull off the bottom in the technical terrain off-road. I’d say 13/50b is ideal 90% of the time, though.

@IdahoDualSport2087 ай бұрын
@@Insaiyanriderso the 500 EXC-F and the FE501 are very similar and ride almost the same. The FE501 feels a bit more upright and sporty, while the EXC-F feels more like a dual sport, however that’s mostly due to setup and ergonomics. The CRF450L is most related to the WR450 in my opinion. The ECU, fueling, and mapping is not my favorite and it does not ride as plush or as dynamic as the KTM and Husqy. On pavement, none of them are great. They’re just performance dirt bikes that can get by on pavement when needed. Off road, it’s kind of a pick your flavor scenario. The 500 and 501 have a very lush bottom end that is linear, controllable and bottomless with torque. The 450 is a refined race motor so it’s much more jerky and less happy lugging in technical terrain. Beyond that it comes down to preference with ergo’s and aesthetics.
