Watching on my new 55 inch TV. Wow! Always great scenery, but now even better. I can't imagine watching on a phone. Great review and riding.

This is content...! I love my Triumphs, as much as I do my Suzukis, so we tread common ground here. However, having never ridden the 1200 Speed Twin (yet), I cannot imagine the extra 300cc and a handful more BHP being better, or desireable for UK country road riding, unless regular trips from Sussex up to Gretna Green for a long weekend, with ya girls and all their luggage is a regular occurance in ones life. The 900cc in whatever model it may be found, seems to do a perfect job for me..., even here in the Swiss mountains. This will not be a bike for me to go hunting for, so the likelyhood of me ever riding one, unless I get offered the oppertunity, will not be happening very soon, if ever. 650s to 900s seem to cope with all needs in modern day life, as indeed do many sales stats show. It seems, all bikes are getting bigger, faster and consequently dearer, for an ever decreasing market of potential buyers, who have the ever decreasing chance of riding 50mph plus, and/or riding on quality surfaces, that it doesn't warrant the use of a larger engine any more. Having ridden a 650cc early last summer and being convinced of its capabilities, I have now said good bye to the 1200s and 1500s and look forward to summer '25 on a "small" bike..., which I still have to decide upon. And that, brings me to the point where I wish you Kate, Mike, and all yours, a happy, healthy and successful New Year with the rubber side down and an adventurous mile munchin' 2025, wherever on the globe that might be. Steve.

The classic Triumph Bonneville, is a bike I've always dreamed of owning since I was a kid. So, when the new Speed Twin 1200 came out, there were some great deals to be had on the previous models. I ended up getting an excellent deal on a Speed Twin 1200 Stealth Edition in Sapphire Red / Silver Red; a limited edition one year run. I also managed to buy a pair of Triumph Thruxton 1200 RS Öhlins Twin shocks for the bike. Like many, I don't like the large single clock, it just doesn't suit the character of the bike, or the new dimpled tank-they should've called it the Trident 1200! Triumph should've upgraded the classic twin clocks, improved them, and come up with something like the clocks on the Kawasaki Z900RS with an LED in the middle, which is a stunning bike, and a bike I'd like in my garage. (23:48) If I had not managed to buy a Speed Twin 1200, I would honestly be looking at buying the new CB1000 Hornet SP, which was announced a few weeks later. You need to change that exhaust, but what a bargain, and definitely a contender for bike of the year!

Kate that was a superb review of a motorcycle that I am genuinely interested in, though the old dual dials are lovely, as you correctly point out the new single dial is easier to read when riding. I thoroughly vicariously enjoyed riding those Spanish roads, that looked liked you had a great day's ride.

Great Video Kate! As per usual! Great scenery and filming, the sound is better without the buff! You have a lovely voice, but with the buff it gets muffled, so for me you can do without it! Other then that, keep up the great work! 😊

Shopping list: Carnival Red, bump up the preload to accommodate my fat viking stature and some nice, fruity end cans and I'd be a truly happy boy. I really like the new dash as well. It's a much more "leather jacket and riding jeans" flavour, rather than "cordura adventure clothing" vibe and I'm much more in tune with that.

Great review, beautiful bike. The biggest problem with switching from classic clocks is that they went with such a budget looking dash. I know that dash is perfectly functional but it just looks so under premium and I think it lets down a few of the bikes they've put it on.

I prefer the new clock on this bike for the functionality. I want to be able to see my speed at a glance without squinting. The twin clocks looked stunning and better looking but I would happily trade them in for the function over style display.

The clock on this bike is a deal breaker for me. Even with new BMW M cars. Once they start installing computer screen speedometers on their cars, I won’t purchase another new one. I’m guessing for me, I’ll just stick with different brands that have that classic look in everything, including the speedometer styles.

LOL - there is ZERO relationship between this and a 1937 Speed Twin, except for the names: they aren't even the same "Triumph" company in any meaningful sense.

Maybe not anything in common now, but it has been an evolution like anything, progressing with the times 😊
@MrHws5mp
@MrHws5mp 2 күн бұрын
@@UsernameKateIt's not really an evolution. The old Triumph (Meriden) company went bust in the 1970s, taking all the old-school twin-cylinder bikes with it. When John Bloor bought the name and set up Triumph (Hinkley), the company that's still here today, 20 years later, the one thing he _didn't_ want was any association with the notoriously vibratory, leaky, unreliable old bikes. There were NO twins in the new line-up (just triples and fours) and NO retros. Everything was supoosed to compete head-on with the Japanese without making excuses or trading on loyalty. It was only when the new Triumph had established itself as a serious manufacturer that they started even thinking about retros, and it was many years more until they designed an all-new twin.
