It's easy to slag this off by looking at the GFX but that is very narrow minded, it's quite a fun little racing management game, the tactics work, you feel like you are running a team, it cuts out all the bullshit you get from the big F1 games that simply copy and paste themselves every year for the masses. And more importantly this dev has an eye for good gameplay and I for one am very happy to give his game some publicity, who knows in 5 years time this dev could be making a GOTY, everyone starts somewhere and I believe in supporting devs that show some talent.

Seems way better in gameplay than that overly produced F1 manager we get these days. That one just feels shallow. Will give this one a go, looks fun. Did have a laugh with Maldonado on the side of the track in the race you were showing at the end.

Thanks for taking my suggestion from the Monthly Update video, Mack! (If you indeed did - I was the only one to suggest it). In a way, Golden Lap is to Motorsport Manager like what Art of Rally is to DiRT Rally - a stylized, simplified, easy to switch on and off game. I love Motorsport Manager but once you get into a season/try a new series it can get obtuse fairly quickly. Not that that's a bad thing - but by contrast, GL has far more ease of access. And it goes without saying that the F1 Manager games are buggy, incomplete shite and not worth anyone's money or time. I've only fiddled around with this demo a bit, but their previous game, Art of Rally, is a gem. That's how I knew of this game. Give that one a look if the summer months are slow. It's a classic in my opinion - and a must have on the Steam Deck.

This seems like a dramatically stripped down version of Motorsport Manager. Which Mack if you haven't played you will probably adore. Plus the insane amount of mods on the Steam Workshop.

i reckon best was 70s F1, it was still accessible to completely wild entrants (Eifeland, Hesketh, Tecno, Connew, (probably another ATS) etc.) some did it because they were just mad lads some did it because they had no idea what they are getting into and i do not even dare guess why the multitude of Italian teams (no doubt born out of conflict with Enzo Ferrari) justified their spitefull crussade. Sure there were crazy teams all the way up untill 90s, last decent decade of the sport, but none were as crazy as as 60s-80s random teams. Partly because you'd just get March body, ford engine and there you go thats your formula one .) (it did work wonders for at least one team - Williams) Anyways yes i do think that management game for F1 is pretty good idea, especially from good times era.

To be honest, judging a racing management game by its visuals is like judging a C5 Corvette for its off road capabilities, pointless. Its all about that engine, how it determines outcomes, strategies etc, If thats good then i can see this been extremely addicting. It reminds me a lot of the old Football management games before they went to their 3D match engines, before that they were similar ball icons floating around a field but it was compelling to watch, i can see the same with this for sure
