Can we just appreciate JPJ for a moment, the other 3 golden gods get much love and I know everyone loves Jones too but he really provided a depth and created textures that made Zeppelin what they are, without him they were just another heavy blues/rock band

Thank you for doing this song, no one ever does it and it's such a gem. Gives me goosebumps every time and I must've heard it 100 times now or more. Their music is not just a great sound, it's an experience all of it's own, so many otherworldly creations from four exceptionally talented people. There will never be a band that comes close. There are many great musicians, songwriters and vocalists now and in the past but nothing is quite on the same par as Led Zeppelin.
@henriettaskolnick44452 жыл бұрын
The beginning of this song has always reminded me of a call to prayer in the center of a city in some otherworldly time and place, then with rhythmic almost hypnotic swirling riffs, you continue your meditation before transcending triumphantly into "the Light". It is sensuous, almost secretive and spine-tingling in a good way. Jimmy used a bow with his acoustic guitar to get the droning sound in the beginning. He also likened Robert's singing in this to Bulgarian chorale music. I think a lot of other reactors do the most requested songs then figure they're good with that. It's true, it does take time and commitment to do a proper, deep dive as you have, and I commend you for it. Keep introducing the good music you've been discovering to the people you know and the rest will take care of itself.
@Kashmir.8202 жыл бұрын
So teacher my 2nd fave Zep song is IMTOD and recently I read that no other time did Robert respect, appreciate, & was just in total awe of Jimmy’s expertise of his craft than on that song. Especially love 2 nd night Knebworth. Have you heard that interview before?
@henriettaskolnick44452 жыл бұрын
@@Kashmir.820 I haven't heard Robert describe Jimmy's playing on that song like that before but maybe he did. To my knowledge, they didn't play IMTOD at Knebworth, in fact, after Robert's car accident, it was taken out of the set list. From what I've read, Robert didn't like performing it, maybe because it hit pretty close to home.

The beginning starts out and it continues throughout the intro -- the only time, Jimmy Page bowed an acoustic guitar. This song is incredible - John Paul Jones does an absolute awesome job on the intro. The guitar riff when the song kicks in - it evil sounding and I love it. Bonzo's drums sound incredible and he only used two mics to pick his drums up on the recording. The mics were above him by about 10 feet. Robert's singing is majestic, killer and unbelievable ! I love this song much. "...eh, ee, yeah baby, I know how it feels, bc I have slipped through to the very depths of my soul..." "Well, love's pain can devour you, if you are never alone..."

I flashed back to my first time listening to this song... age 13 or so, stealing a moment on my sisters stereo, having those same feelings I saw move across your face... hypnotic. Such a positive song too yet acknowledging we have hard times or even death. But just follow the light... "did you ever think that I could leave you, out in the cold..." sounds like meeting my maker on the other side like I've heard from near death experiences. Anyway, I hope you enjoy more music like this!
