The game picks up 30 years after the first two games in the series left off. At the end of Golden Sun: The Lost Age, the heroes succeeded in bringing the world-healing power of the Golden Sun back to the world of Weyard. In the years since, the immense power of the Golden Sun has changed nearly everything. Continents have shifted. New countries have emerged. New species have appeared. But the world is now imperiled by a new threat. Psynergy Vortexes, which suck the elemental Psynergy from both the land and power-wielding Adepts alike, are spreading across the world. The new generation of heroes - the children of those from the previous games - are drawn into the mystery behind the vortexes, as they cross a chaotic world that is succumbing to a new evil.

I love the song but half of what makes it so incredible is that it's in this one massively pitched boss fight that still manages to be one of the hardest in the game (provided you're not hypergrinding)-- Saturos elects to duke it out one on four, in a lighthouse of his contrary element, against four adepts covering all the elements, and he still manages to put up a fight and buys the time they need. If you're gonna capture that essence in the song again it's gotta stay as that epic rival theme.

They are desperate and the raid is their only way to restore Prox, a necessary evil as their action is good but as desperation overwhelmed their reasoning, they see Vale warriors as a threat rather than as assistance. Otherwise both Saturos and Menardi would survive the ordeal without needing any bloodshed, but there's Alex joining their journey with his own agenda as Prox warriors need a mercury adept to continue the climb.

Blados and Chalis are NOT Jupiter/Mars Adepts. They are Dark Adepts. The "skills" they use are actually items you can find in game! ... So their only skills are normal attacks+items. >W>

Yeah, their only Unique attacks are their basic "attack" which Blados just gives you a paper cut with his sword, and his "Punish" where it actually looks like he gets pissed and hits a single character about 8 times, dealing (sadly) descent damage but with a chance to drain that character's spirit. Chalis on the other hand, just kind of runs around, scratches you with her long finger nails, and laughs a lot........I beat these guys in like 4 minutes, I was expecting a better fight.

In apollo sanctum, they appear to be teleporting around with Alex. Also, in the epilogue, if you talk to any of the yellow beastmen in belinsk, they will talk about light psynergy they got... Hm.

The "Dark Adepts" utilize the eclipse to enhance their power as they lack elements and unlike the 4 cardinal elementals, Dark is null and void thus they need assistance to use elementals.

+Boshwa Well it is said that they wanted to throw the laser beam from the dynamo either on Tuaparang's airship or at the area around Sol Snactum...If I am not mistaken, in order for the Dynamo to appear, one has to reactivate the other 2 Alchemy Machines (done by Matthew and Co.) and to have a Grave Eclipse. Also, they gained more power through the eclipse, story wise...

Alex is shown to be up to no good, he is looking for more power, yet he shows up to help a bit on Sol Sanctum, my personal thought is that Alex helped Matthew and Co. so they could defeat Blados and Chalis, that way he could gather all the power the Tuaparang wanted to gather, as Blados and Chalis wouldn't allow Alex to do this, all that so that he could absorb it for himself like he did with the Golden Sun´s power, to rival the only being in his world who could best him with his almost unlimited power, the Wise One, he becomes so power hungry that in the end of the (possible) new Golden Sun, he becomes the Final Boss, he finally bested the Wise One, now is up to the Old and New heroes, to face off against this immensely powerful traitor, and stop him before he takes over the world.

These two were one of many things I didn't really appreciate about DD as far as the writing/plot go. Lots of plot points, including the whole "Dark Adept" thing (and Dark Psynergy), Tuaparang, and other stuff, created a lot of holes in the overarching plot and lore--stuff that was never once hinted at in GS1 and 2 either in the games' lore, character dialogues, environments, or...anything or anywhere. If anything, Dark Dawn would've done much better as a prequel to the first two games--possibly shedding a bunch of light on why the Wise One extinguished the Lighthouse beacons, hid the Elemental Stars, and effectively sealed Alchemy away. "Arcanus" would've been a great villain from ages past--his own character, and not Alex with a different alias. Likewise, Blados and Chalice would've really shined both on their own and as high-ups in Tuaparang's military. I mean, even the game's title gives the impression of a story taking place long before Isaac and Co. go around lightning the Lighthouses.

@TigerHawkins I feel the same way, Saturos and Menardi were a hell of a lot harder than Blados and Chalis. Only annoying thing about the 2 is that Chalis had the Illusion Perfume amd even that isnt all that bad, but once you take her out, all you have left is Blados who uses almost nothing but physical attacks. Hell of a lot easier than being bombarded with constant Psynergy spells that hit the entire party with heavy damage.

Karst and Agatio definitely won't return, you saw them die with your own eyes in The Lost Age. As for Saturos and Menardi... Well there's no real way to tell. Perhaps they survived, but that would be impossible to know unless we actually get Golden Sun 4.

@Atstyle I see. None of the walkthroughs would show that because no one went back to talk to Isaac after they left. To be technical, it doesn't HAVE to be Alex, since everyone in the world knows about Alchemy.... but Alex fits the picture for it. All those who were exposed to the Golden Sun became ageless, perhaps this event weakened the Wise One? Alex didn't need more power. I didn't go back to talk to Isaac because there was no reason to. That doesn't mean I didn't pay attention to the game.

Personally, I thought the battle against Agatio and Karst was a lot more fun than the one against Saturos and Menardi. Agatio had a lot of cool moves, like Meteor Blow, and the Rising Dragon. Plus the battle was more cinematic. You start off with only Felix and Piers, then the girls join in and it becomes really climactic. You're right about Saturos and Menardi seeming more menacing though. I consider them some of the best video game villains of all time.

@DarkHeartHaven That's a very good point! Perhaps people didn't have to be near the lighthouses to be affected by their light, like the beastmen of Morgal. It's hard to believe they changed that way just because the continents shifted! And now there's a new group that may have Dark psynergy! I'm not too sure if they really have psynergy or not, I mean, we've only seen Blados and Chalis fight, but the only real psynergy we've seen from them is Shadow Shield. Maybe next game there will be more!

that's what they tried to accomplish with the lost age. Felix was supposed to show the player the reason that Saturos and Menardi were going around activating the lighthouses, supposedly ignoring the inevitable destruction of the world. The second game also explains that Saturos and Menardi were total asshats to anyone that wasn't from Prox (including Felix and Sheba, who only wanted to help) they were considered heroes in Prox, and everyone loved them there.

@Atstyle I think it's both; he wanted to keep a low profile and because he couldn't do it himself (because he didn't have a wide variety of psynergy, not because of weakness). A match of Alex vs Saturos and Menardi separately would be a pathetic battle, because not only does he have an elemental advantage, but he can teleport as well. Whatever he can't teleport away from, he can just shoot some water psynergy at. I'm still curious as to how he has that ability. Hopefully, it's explained...

I feel we don't have enough info from the game to discuss why they got the extended life. I don't know why they were considered "exposed" to the GS when they were just in the Mars lighthouse's light. They only one that was truly exposed to the GS was Alex. To me, the Warriors of Vale were no more exposed to the GS than the rest of the world.

only minor annoyance with these guys was their instant kill moves and the fireworks. other than that they are easy just like all the other duos in the series. final boss however is a good wake up call. Hell of a catchy tune along with Saturos and Menardi's as well.

It's stupid to argue about stuff like that; the game has moved past that, and so should we. We know Isaac was given some form of power during the event, and hopefully the game producers haven't forgotten about it, so we can use it in a future game for some purpose.

@ThrallBhrall I know Isaac and Garet weren't exposed to the Golden Sun and that only Alex was. My point with that was that Alex ages slowly because he was engulfed in the Golden Sun, but somehow the other 8 adepts and Kraden age slowly as well. Perhaps it's a benefit from the Mars lighthouse's light, to age slowly? But then Saturos and Menardi would have mentioned it at some point. I wasn't the one saying that Alex could use all the elements due to the Golden Sun, the other guy was.

I just watched part of the walkthrough (made by mikey11190) from the beginning to after Isaac sends the kids out. He stays behind to monitor Mt Aleph's eruptions, and wants to go to Mt Aleph to see if the Wise One is still there. He doesn't say anything about protecting Mt Aleph from anyone. Alex says nothing ALL GAME about revenge on the Wise One (at least after your claim). If you can find a visual walkthrough that shows Alex or Isaac talking about revenge and post it, then I'll believe it.

It's true that you can't compare blados and chali, But you have to admitted they were created to represent the same kind of dual antagonist idea that have been reproduce in each game. S&M were legends true, but it's the same concept.

With the proper equipment, it would be a tough battle. In any case, if we are to fight him in the next game, he won't be able to teleport anywhere, unless they make his teleport ability like the "hide" djinn's ability. Annoying, but bearable.

@XfishX Perhaps since they were at all 4 lighthouses, they were technically exposed to the lighthouses' light that way, but Alex got the full benefit since he was literally in the GS. But if being in the 4 lights was completely true, then Sheba can't have extended life, since she wasn't present at the Mercury Lighthouse. I'd say the same for Piers as well, but he already had extended life since he was Lemurian. I wonder if he's immortal to time now lmao!

Now that he had 30 years to master the other three elements i wonder if the wise one is still no1 adept or alex have surpassed him( he did receive a massive part of the golden sun, the other small part is dorment in Isaac).

@Atstyle To be honest, no, I don't think Alex was stronger than them. It doesn't take much to persuade people to act a certain way when their death seems inevitable, ie, the harsh cold. Agatio and Karst seem to be roughly Isaac's age, while Saturos and Menardi seem to be in their mid-late 20's. During the time lapse, maybe new psynergy was created. Perhaps S&M were a different class than A&K? A&K weren't that strong for the most part because they weren't the real final boss, the Wise One was.

Dark dawn was too short. The first one was the most difficult, and then it was the second one. More probably because the first one didn't exactly give you clues as what to do in certain areas. @Atstyle There's no doubt that Alex is powerful, but I don't think he's stronger than Saturos and Menardi. Yes, he's far stronger than Agatio and Karst. I just think Alex is a mastermind of twisting situations to get people to do what he wants, which is clearly shown in Dark Dawn, but he does have the power to hold his own if things get ugly. Well, no matter how strong Alex is, it will be satisfying to beat him in the next GS game!!! (There better be one!!!!!!! lol xD)

lol People, of course Saturos and Menardi were stronger than Blados and Chalis!!! Saturos and Menardi had a reason to be so powerful. They had to be in order to get passed the obstacles the ancient put in place to prevent the lighthouses from being lit. They had a place to train which was away from non-adepts, a secluded place using psynergy that had been around for many ages.

Blados and Chalis would be the first ones to go, they're NOT EVEN a fraction of how powerful the other four are.

@XfishX There's no way people in the 30 years since the Golden Sun could be as powerful as them. As of the third game, Blados and Chalis are from a new country, which means they haven't had time to get new psynergy. I wonder if the presence of the light/dark psynergy was around before the Golden Sun, or was unleashed during/after it? Perhaps that will be answered in the 4th game (hopefully there will be one!!!)

@Atstyle If he had that kind of power, he would have used it already. 30 years is a long time to wait. If your logic is correct, then the other 8 adepts would have use of the 4 elements as well. Alex ages slowly because he was exposed to the Golden Sun, yet so do the other adepts. Isaac and Garet can't use other elements. Now what? Now you can keep your opinions to yourself. As we both have said over the last few posts, this is over. You won't change my mind, nor will I change yours.

@XfishX i can't help to notice that when you're cornered, you tend to twist the main subject to focus on details just so you can have an escape. 1st told me isaac never said such thing then you moved on dullahan being the strongest then moved to the fact i havent finished the game. If i recall, we were arguing on alex being all mighty (after the goldensun event) thats was the main idea, now if you have run out of statement, this debate is useless and lets end it there.

I reread what we said when you claimed that I "have to admitted they were created to represent the same kind of dual antagonist idea that have been reproduce in each game" about Blaods and Chalis, which I never did. It is NOT a fact that Alex is strong enough yet. The Wise One kicked his butt in GS:TLA, so why would Alex be strong enough now?We''ll see in the next game. But it doesn't matter.
