I mean, gameplay wise.Before they drew heavily on Greek mythos to build their world and in a way that was awesome, then in DD they got rid of all that, decided to make what was essentially an entire new world and butcher all the fucking lore, then theymade up a bunch of stupid goddamn names, none of which feel like they belong in the same language together. Story-wise and lore-wise it was so bad in comparison.

I think the main reason why Dark Dawn felt rushed was because I think they wanted to make a sequel, just like how they did it with Golden Sun 1. But Nintendo didn't let them do it for whatever reason.

In TLA and GS1, they barely explained any of the history of Weyard beyond vague 'prophecies' and 'legends', although I must admit they do blab on about the 'ancients' and 'legends' much more in DD, but at least the ancients are named. Also, I wish they explained more about the rediscovery of ancient ruins ancient and Alchemy Machines in DD, which we did not see or hear anything of at all in TLA. For instance, I wish they had said in DD that ruins etc. were uncovered by natural events such as earthquakes and storms triggered by the Golden Sun, in addition to excavation by the people of Weyard. So, as I said there was no 'lore' in the first two games to do away with. They didn't even specifically address the origins of ancient ruins such as the Madra Catacombs, or name any of the ancient cultures. I believe they just wanted to keep a blank canvas for future ideas in case they chose to make a third game, If anything, I'm glad that they specified the ancients as the 'Jenei' and 'Exathi' in DD, because it makes the whole matter more specific. I can empathise with frustration at them just coming up with names we've never heard of such as 'Jenei', 'Exathi' and 'Tuaparang', but what else would one expect? Could there have been something better? Maybe they could have mentioned these in TLA...

Saturos gets the most recognition as a Golden Sun villain for having a great personality, and more for being 'That One Boss' for most people their first time through the game. He was the first fight in the game that could actually be difficult if you didn't level or come prepared. Sadly, bosses of that quality only appeared a few times in either game. The Kraken was another of them, and Poseidon in the second. DD had the Ice Queen and the Final boss. Not counting Extra Bosses.

Good for you. Because according to developers Golden Sun and Golden Sun TLA were always meant to be ONE game, with the player switching from Isaac to Felix halfway through. They couldn't fit all the data on ONE GBA cartridge though so they had to split it into two separate releases.

Got a point there. They just couldn't fit the whole story on one cartridge. The games themselves severely pushed the limits of GBA hardware, with the music and graphical detail. At that given point in time, what they managed to do was absolutely phenomenal (oh, and lets not forget the wonderful scripting and battles ;) ).

If anyone has anything to say, please copy-paste what you don't agree with and state your opinion, I'll gladly read it. (Not kidding there, I'd love to change my mind) Golden Sun 1 : - Innovation in gameplay with Djinns - Innovation in gameplay with utility Psynergy - Music is amazingly composed and new - Offered a vast world to discover with some secret locations - Established a deep and complex lore, with tons of narration and places to support it - Offered lots of challenge with difficults battles (Kraken, Saturos, Deadbeard) - Hinted lots of implicit relations within characters arcs - Made a ton of character development - Story build up gradually and explodes at Venus' Lighthouse - Allows you to backtrack into the explored world - Ultimate gear requires minmax and optimization - Opens lots of plotlines such as Ivan's family, Babi's immortality, Alex's fate and Thelos' studies Golden Sun 2: - Offers a whole new soundtrack - Innovation in Psynergy with item-based classes, while complexifying the cross-element mechanics - Offers a whole new world to explore, more than twice the size first game's world - Innovation in cross-element invocations, and secret invocations, including 2 overpowered summons if you played both games with 100% djinns - Offers a different cast of characters, while retaining a bit of already known ones - TONS OF SECRET/OPTIONAL PLACES to discover - Includes multiple new secret bosses VERY HARD to beat unless you're overleveled - Actually includes hidden places for those bosses, and quests alongside - Story builds up from 0 to 75% at Contigo, then overflows the 100% while climbing Mars' Lighthouse - Has a spell exclusively dedicated to backtrack (Teleportation) - Actually makes sense along with Golden Sun's story - Made even more character development (Turns out good guys were evil, and vice-versa) - Answers plotlines opened in GS1 (Ivan, Babi, Lina's parents' fate...) WHATTHEFUCKACTUALLY - Story build up like a pile of shit, you just don't want to smell it anymore the more ou gather it So no, Golden Sun 3 IS NOT a good game. It's a regular JRPG exploiting its reputation rather than trying to build more prestige. I mean, even a remaster of both first episodes would have been better for the series' image.

Don't forget Sveta's differing knuckles and claws. When I was playing dark dawn for the first time I thought "Oh great, she won't be using a long sword..." and I was right...Then I found out she uses Brass Knuckles an the other fist weapons. I was extremely pleased with weapons only she could equip.

It does have a rich sides of what happens between those 30 years timeskip span. The books in bookshelfs in game explain almost the whole history(Usually about leaders). This game was broken the tempo at sides of Adventures Story but very well written in sides of Historical Story. But usually Stories like this(Broken Balanced) happens like in Pokemon Special Manga, the difference is that in that manga the quest is clear and have the ending plot while this story remains many mystery

(dullahan being the first) So I liked how Dark Dawn started you out on a quest to fix a problem that garets sun created (always knew his son was gonna be as much of a problem when i saw garet trying to drag a giant chest away over running from a bolder) Then the new problem entered in and that is what threw my mind XD. Not to mention the new dark and light alchemy that you couldn't use in battle. Unless you had a certain item i think it was. Dark Dawn was a perfect installment in my opinion.

I played the second one first and only just played through the first one. The second one makes complete sense without the backstory from game one and I was able to piece together the entire story of game one just through the first half of game two. In Golden Sun 1 you got to prove you were the most powerful human being in the western world (Colosso). In TLA; not only do you learn that all through the first game you were manipulated into catalysing the world's destruction, but you also get to beat the living crap out of the single most powerful human being in the western world and take his title for yourself. Also, the puzzles were reworked (and in my opinion better and more rewarding [YAY DJINN]) and the characters are more interesting.

I loved this game as much as I LOVE Golden Sun: The lost Age. The only thing I didn't like was the Blacksmiths in this game, where you have to climb all the way up to get an item to be blacksmithed and then all the way down to leave the Area (Which is Champa) and go ALL the way back up to where Eoleo's Grandmother is. And if you didn't get the item you want, you have to RESET the game and do it all OVER again. Other then that I LOVE it. :) That's my ONLY complain. The music and the Story line is perfect and they have my Favorite boss in this one too...Star Magician. :)

Yeah, I agree. I didn't like it as much as the first two, but I don't think it deserves nearly as much flak as it gets. It was a cool game in its own right. One of my favorite parts of the game was Sveta! She was a cool character and the added mechanic of having a shapeshifter in the part was fun and interesting. I'd still love more games in the series, or at least more recognition in games like Smash Bros. and stuff.

Interesting how the resulted in The Lost Age being one of the greatest sequels of all time. I mean it STARTS before the original ENDS. Kind of awesome, especially when you consider the timing of it. Most people have played discontinuous FF, Drag War, or Pokemon Games, and when you did get a sequel they were years a part.

That, or they wanted to switch the focus to Felix's group, and it would be somewhat awkward to make Isaac and co unplayable all the way to Jupiter Lighthouse. Still, I hated the way GS1 just abruptly ended. On my 1st save I saved in the epilogue thinking I still have 2 lighthouses to go... They should have mixed their stories somewhat in TLA instead of just dropping Isaac for so long. My guess is that 32mb cartridges were too expensive back in the day, 16 was already much.

For the 4th Smash Bros. though, there's a 50/50 chance (if the final boss theme for GS2 could make it for Brawl, I'm sure this can, too). It'll probably be arranged with all Saturos and Menardi battle themes to make it longer (and amazing).
