The first time I heard it I was in a car with my ex, her first time too. She was slightly buzzed and in the passenger seat. She stopped talking and said, “oh fuck, this is our song.” She then laid her seat back and just laid there for the rest of the ride. I wasn’t really listening closely and didn’t think much of it, just thought a night after drinking sort of thing. She dumped me “out of the blue” about six months later. I was hurt and surprised. I thought she was it for me. A few months after that, this song appeared to me again and I listened closer and sure enough it was our song. I thought back to that moment, a random night that I never would have pinned as anything actually became a core moment in our relationship in hindsight. She knew back then and was having an emotional reaction to the song.
