Golden West Pine Mills: Solving a 'Small' Forest Problem

The owner of Golden West Pine Mills in Ault, Colorado, is exploring EGAR technology that may pave the way to lowering wildfire risk for residents living along the Front Range. Andy Hinz is working on ways to use small-diameter timber growing thick in the state's forests, putting small trees through a mill process that has gotten a technological lift since its start in the 1970s. His work is celebrated by the Colorado State Forest Service, which awarded him as 2022 Partner of the Year.
