Exquisite! The best ice dancers ever! Did you ever notice that Chris did many of the lifts with just one arm? Amazing.

The greatest ice dance couple in history dance one of their most soulful performances, wrapped up in bows like beautiful gifts for us and dance to the greatest song Jerry Herman ever wrote. It has to be tear inducing.

@@IZS1962 Yes; look out for the film "Victor Victoria", in which he co-stars (and sings); he's a competent actor. "Roses" has a lot in common with "I remember it well", IMO. And Jayne and Chris do it so nicely, too.

Hi, yes I’m wry tired & feeling reminiscent. Watched this with my “Mum” in 1984. My Dad passed in 1983 on the 9 th of June. So a lot of memories here, but, it makes me think of You & Alice. This is the First Lady you have ever wanted your family to meet! This song makes me think of You & “now” Alice. So send her Roses. Sorry, feeling nostalgic xx💕

They performed "Barnum" as their main exhibition number at the gala, then returned with this as their encore, hence the Barnum costumes.

@@davecathcart117 It certainly is! I always associate the routine with the 1984 Olympics and World Championships, they performed the routine as part of the closing gala at both, and that felt like such a special time, they had the whole country spellbound.

Mabel is so much in love with Mack, and just wants him to love her back, but he is "so preoccupied with" himself, that he pays her no attention until it's too late. Jayne and Chris act out the lyrics of the song so well that, no matter how many times I see this, I'm always in tears by the end.😢

Stupid song? Jerry Herman wrote that for Mack and Mabel. That song is heartbreakingly beautiful. That entire score is fabulous.
@annep.19052 жыл бұрын
@@biancatellington85 I disagree. The words are nasty; the rhythm of the words is awkward; the music is boringly repetitive, the overall flavor is depressing and repugnant. I'll grant you the background score is pretty, but that's it. If you want to hear something beautiful, go listen to "Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis," by Ralph Vaughan Williams, or "Clair de Lune" by Claude Debussy, or even parts of the music score for Halo: Reach, the video. But IMO, this song is trash.
