Prince. Thank you Sir. Your one of two that I subscribe to on the History of Bruce Lee and others. I’m 61 now, but when I first heard of Bruce Lee, It was 1973 when Fist of Fury(the big boss) and The Chinese Connection ( Fist of Fury) hit theaters along with Dirty Harry and Magnum Force. Eastwood movies was playing at the Norwood blue, and Lee movies at the gold. 2 of my Sisters at that time was geared to go watch Eastwood. I was 11 and already an amateur Boxer, and Judo. When my Sisters returned home they were so excited, and amazed at what they witnessed, instead of going to the Eastwood movies, they were diverted by other movie goers to the Lee movies. They both said Stan, we have never seen a Man move like that, they said He was like a ballerina! When I went to go see the movie, I had to be accompanied by an adult but I couldn’t believe this Man could move with such grace and fluidity! The next thing I knew He had passed away, but the reason why I didn’t believe it ,because when the CBS news announce His death, it was a picture from ETD, which was not released yet,I just remembered His face from FOF, and CC. In the states we only knew Him by Kato, we never knew it was Bruce Lee.

The way Jesse Glover describes Bruce's victory by knockout over Yoichi Nakachi, it sounds like it was just savage. Glover said Nakachi "looked like he was dead. I was afraid. I thought, 'Damn, I hope this guy's not dead'....his face looked like somebody thought he was a baseball and had taken a bat to him." They learned later Bruce had cracked Nakachi's skull, with the fracture extending from his orbital bone down into the cheekbone. ....and this was before Lee even started to work on Jeet Kune Do.

Well done :)! I never get tired of watching your videos. But I have to bring something up since it's usually not mentioned: Yoichi Nakachi and his people always denied it was him who challanged and fought Bruce Lee. It's also mentioned on one of his tribut pages. I know almost all Lee-biographers and historians like Matthew Polly or John Little always potray it like it's a fact that it was him, but it's just fair to portray his side of the story too. Fact is: Dont matter if Jesse Glover, Ed Hart or Doug Palmer, when they spoke about this fight on November 1st, 1960 at the YMCA, they never said his name was Yoichi or Nakachi or what ever. They always said "the judo man" or "the karate man", nothing else. For many years his name was spelled "Uechi", but even Lee himself never named him. He wrote in his daytimer something like "karate and judo black belt", but he never mentioned his name. For the extreme Bruce fans: I dont say it wasnt Yoichi! But you always must consider both sides of the pancake, and even if Polly, LIttle and others say it was him, Glover, Hart and Palmer but also Lee himself never named him Yoichi, Nakachi or Yoichi Nakachi. So it is indeed possible this japanese guy was someone else and not him.

"Yoiche Nakachi pushed for a fight with Bruce and he got. Bruce knocked him. How do I know this I was the ref and I stopped the fight with Yoiche knocked out on the floor." - Jesse Glover
@chrisbach1533
@chrisbach1533 3 ай бұрын
@@GoldenbellTraining Ok thx. Is that from Jesse's "Between WC and JKD book". Well then Jesse named him there. In the doc "Death by Misadventure" he only said "the karate man". Same did Hart and Palmer. But so or so Yoichi and his people always denied it was him. And to be honest: Since even Glover named Howard Hall, Ed Hart, a guy named Masafusa Kimura and some other unkown japanese exchange student as witness, and not one of them besides Glover ever named him Yoichi Nakachi, plus that his name was spelled for decades "Uechi", I wouldnt bet my life it was Yoichi. It was for sure a japanese karate and judo black belt. Lee wrote that down in his notes: "Against Karate black belt holder (Shodan) and 2nd degree black belt in Judo. Place: Downtown Y.M.C.A. (Seattle) Date: 1, Nov, 1960 (Tuesday) Result: won, knock him down in 13. sec; couldn´t fight anymore" - Bruce Lee Not identified as Yoichi Nakachi by Bruce Lee. And usually Bruce named people by name in his notes, see Chuck Norris, Mike Stone, Steve McQueen, James Coburn, Joe Lewis, etc. He also knew the names of Wong Jackman and Lau Daichuen. But for what ever reasons he didnt identified the japanese as Yoichi Nakachi.

According to John Little's book "Wrath of the Dragon," Bruce actually knocked Garie Elms down 3 times, probably why the paper said Bruce knocked him down, one time in each round and was witnessed by Frank and Rolf Clausnitzer, Rolf was barracking for King George V team and later became a Wing Chun Instructor because of it, saying it was the weirdest, ,most bizzare fight you'll ever see and you'll never see another one like that again. Apparently, the bell went before Garie Elms had regained his feet in the 3rd, hence the unanimous decision. While Bruce was unhappy about not knocking him out, he complained about the size of the gloves. Afterwards, he went and worked on his wrist strength and finished the punch with a snap to increase the power, and as for the Beimo match, apparently, he misinterpreted the rules about defend / attack, as they tossed at the beginning and Bruce had to defend, thinking it was for the whole match, and was going to give up if he had to continue defending, and when told it was only for the beginning and everyone would laugh at him if he gave up, he came out and attacked and slaughtered the guy in the second round.

Back in the 80s, I decided to learn Kung Fu, so I went to Wong Jack Man's Kung Fu studio near Fisherman's Wharf in SF for a few weeks. Sounds ironic because part of the reason Lee fought Wong was because teaching Kung Fu to non Chinese was forbidden? However, the old cliche about BS talks, but money walks is true here. Wong had this Kung Fu school running w about 20-30 students, mostly Chinese. Wong showed me the first part of a Kung Fu set, which was similar to an Ocata. So, I practiced it for two weeks, asking him to show me more, which he refused to do? He kept telling me to practice over and over?Then I started talking to some of the other non Chinese students who had been trying to learn Kung Fu there. One guy had been there 2 years and had only learned 3 or 4 sets?? Seriously? Wong was just taking our money and teaching us almost nothing! Meanwhile, his Chinese students were being taught advanced Kung Fu techniques, sparring, and how to fight with weapons. So, I confronted Wong about this and He told me in broken English, "You don't like what I teach you, then you go somewhere else!" in an angry tone! So, I left his school and never went back. I told one of the other non Chinese students what Wong said and told him that he was wasting his time and money there because Wong wasn't going to teach him much.

Thank you for this. You are doing the memory of Bruce a great service--especially in these current days where so many ignorantly claim he was not a real fighter. I'm curious why you didn't include his fight with the extra during filming of Enter the Dragon. Would that be because these five you include are solely concerning fights that informed his training and progressing philosophy of self-defense? I look forward to watching more of your videos. Again, thank you for keeping it real.

I read in the Book of Bruce Lee by Linda Lee , about a fight that Bruce Lee had On Enter The Dragon , now it has been a long time since I read that book and it got destroyed in My Fathers Basement , where I had it stored during my Divorce Process , But I read there was one of those workers on that set , wanted to fight Bruce Lee , Linda mention in that section of that book , Bruce Lee generally would like to avoid fights , not because he was afraid , he just like avoiding them , And at one particular time , Bruce Lee was not feeling very well in other words Bruce Lee was sick and that person was not going to Leave Bruce Lee Alone , so that fight happen , and from what I remember reading , There was only One Punch from Bruce Lee , And it busted the Guy's Lip , and that Guy was laying on the Ground , And Bruce Lee was standing over the Guy asking him did he have enough , I guess that guy stayed down , and with Bruce Lee feeling sick , that person mostly said yes and stayed down , I Know I would have , I hope that I wouldn't been that dumb to begin with , now me at 66 , maybe I not remembering it correctly , or I mis read it , But if there is a person , that I could win a fight with one punch it would be Bruce Lee .

Eye witnesses mean nothing when they're literally all invested in furthering Lee's legend for their own benefit. The man couldn't even throw a good punch. JCVD, Dolph Lundgren and Chuck Norris are all actors with far far FAR more legit credentials than Bruce Lee who has no record at all and nothing ever filmed.

Some of those Bruce Lee detractors say that Bruce Lee's stories are just hearsays, they forget that for example first-hand accounts are not hearsays. When so many many people that did not even knew each other confirmed the same thing when closely meeting Bruce Lee ( his kicking power, his speed, his fighting skills above the ordinary ), that is considered as evidence. They forget that history in general is based in first-hand accounts.

I would like to know in one of your videos did Bruce ever have a sparing match with Sunny Chiba. I heard that they didn't like each other. Please answer this question in your next commentary or video. Thanks!!!😊

@@GoldenbellTraining The same way it shows Stipe, Fedor, Cro cop, Jon Jones and countless others show their fightng skills. Why mention the Gary Elms boxing match as a real fight, if competition doesn't show his fighting skills ?

About Bruce Lee having only two Beimos in Hong Kong, I think this meant two Beimos as observed by Wong Shun Leung. BL might have quite a lot more than that. Actually Man Lan, a childhood friend and cha-cha companion of Bruce Lee, said during an interview (available on youtube some time ago) that she served as the "getaway driver" for Bruce after his fights.

Fights that could have happened anywhere, but most likely not beimo.

Very interesting. Curious what style Wong Jackman used. Yes the karate stylist was a second degree black belt. But there would be no doubts about Bruce Lee's skills if he had sparred in a friendly match with some one at the level of Masutatsu Oyama of Kyokushin karate. Or with Chang Tung Sheng a grand master of several Chinese kung- fu styles.

Didn't think you knew about the boxing match, which his brother Robert told Bruce, if he thought he was so tough why don't you enter the boxing contest. Which Bruce did and won. So that's great .that you know this

The term "3 legs Lee" came about when he argued with Lo Wei that all he needed was 3 kicks to bring the bad men down Lo Wei wanted the old school flowery kicks like in the Shaw Bros.

The secret fight. Thank you. I wonder if at this point, he saw himself in his challenger. Recognized that he just needs more time. No doubt Bruce had been humbled on the warrior's journey/ To get KO'd...Especially back then. I think Bruce had great sympathy. Understood that his victory would be soul crushing. I believe he became more merciful and wise. What I was thinking anyway
