Very good advice for those new to Groodles. I have two - one with a curly wool coat and one with a fleece coat. The brushing you described works great on both. One thing you didn't mention was how often they should be brushed. I aim for once a week but would like to know your opinion.

I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos. Frequency of brushing depends on the thickness of your dog's coat and its length. The main thing is to always stay one step ahead of matting. If that's once a week for you, then excellent!

I won't be getting a goldendoodle, but I'll be adopting a bernadoodle in the next year! This is great advice I'd think for any of the hypoallergenic doodles (golden, labra, and bernies)! And especially as a first time dog owner, that's very useful, I'll make sure to do my research on brushes and combs!!

Hi Pyra, Yes, this is relevant for Doodles of all kinds... I adore them ALL - Bernadoodles, Labradoodles, Aussiedoodles etc. Check out my other videos on this channel in prep for your Bernadoodle. The better prepared you are the easier it will be for the BUSY time you'll have ahead. Busy and utterly rewarding :) x

I have not had much luck with the brush. I comb Dunkin out a couple times a day. His hair is very curly. So I leave it long and this makes it easier to manage as long as you comb him a few times a day.

If using mainly the comb works for you on Dunkin's coat, that's excellent 🌟👍💛

@@MyGoldendoodleDiary thank you. He is my first Golden Doodle. I had Rottweiler before this teddy bear. I love him. Because I'm disabled veteran. I have a lot of time to clean him up.

@@Hitech82 Due to all the grooming required, we also get to bond with our teddy bear dogs. Plus they're so therapeutic to be around. Sounds like Dunkin has your heart and your Rottie is watching over you both x

Great video - thanks for sharing. I am wondering where you bough the black and grey slicker brush from please?
@MyGoldendoodleDiary2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mary. The black and grey slicker brush is called Well & Good Cushion Slicker Brush. I got it at Petbarn, but it's sold online all over the world. x

Thanks for all your information you share with us. How about cleaning my pups ears ? I’m not sure if I’m supposed to do it or have the vet do it.?

You're welcome Nadine :) Yes, I'll talk about ear cleaning at some point too x

Groomers should call the owner prior to shaving a dog down so they are not shocked. That communication should take place prior.

Yes, good communications are always key. Thanks for watching x

Will the groomer tell u before they shave it off

Hi Mary, When I dropped off Sophie to the groomer asking for a 'teddybear cut', she first ran her hands along Sophie's body to check for mats and didn't find any. Then she confirmed that yes, it'll be possible to do a teddybear cut on her. Were she matted, she and many groomers don't want to put the dog through the pain of having the mats brushed out which is the only way to allow them to do a longer style cut. I know some groomers just do a shave-down even when the dog doesn't have any mats, so up-front communication (and the groomer doing a pre-groom assesment/check) is key. When you find a great groomer who does a fab job, stick with them. Also take a photo of the last time your dog had a wonderful cut, just post-groom to give them a visual guide for next time because describing a clip in words is so much harder. I hope this helps. x
