I come from a family that’s big on doodle breeding. My wife and I breed bernedoodles, my stister breeds cockapoos, I have one cousin that breeds labradoodles and another that does goldendoodles. Between the labradoodle, goldendoodle and Bernedoodle there is a lot of overlap in characteristics, they are all very good family dogs, all very smart and all medium/large breeds. But if you want the biggest differences; goldendoodles and labradoodles are identical except in coat color. Everything else about them is the same (in terms of probability of personality traits, all dogs have their own unique personalities, of course). The Bernedoodle is similar but with a couple subtle differences. The Bernese parent makes them likely to have a thicker coat. It’s softer, it’s plusher but it’s also higher maintenance. Bernedoodles have a reputation for stubbornness. They are definitely trainable but the Labradoodle/Goldendoodle is easier to train. Bernedoodles are less independent. This makes them more affectionate but it also makes them more likely to have separation anxiety problems, especially as a puppy. I don’t recommend a Bernedoodle if your household is going to be empty of people for multiple hours a day. Lastly, and probably most obviously, Bernedoodles tend to be a bit bigger than labradoodles/goldendoodles. But not by a lot. Bernese mt dogs are bigger than retrievers but they’re no where near the size of a st bernard which I find a lot of people think for some reason. Anyway, just my 2 cents. Hope it helps!

Some good info here, but the fact that you mispronounce Bernese constantly is a problem. Try thinking Switzerland (Berne) not Burma.

You must be American. I’m thankful Canadians don’t care about pronunciation, but content.

GOOGLE - WALLY CONRON. He is a professional breeder who created the first doodle. He says that creating the doodle is one of the biggest regrets of his life. AND FOR GOOD REASON.

You call it a Bermese....isn't it a Bernese?? Shouldn't you have the correct name for a breed you are educating the public on?? Just saying!
