Adam Fuller I kinda agree, but the best fight scene, I reckon for me in a bond film is the train scene fight between Sean Connery and Robert shaw, on the orient express from the bond film from Russia with love. For me personally it was the best fight scene in a bond film. But this was a good fight scene also.

Yes I put this one up there with From Russia Love. Super realistic and gritty. What a real fight looks like. These fights just have that natural look to them and are often not replicated. They are hard to do no doubt.

Agreed (GoldenEye is my favourite Bond flick) and FRWL's train fight is up there too. My favourite though was the train fight in Spectre (as lackluster as that movie was it did have its moments) between Bond and Batista, that shit was very brutal too. Craig broke his leg filming that fight scene and needed actual knee surgery, and said to this day still has lasting pain from the injury! Talk about throwing yourself into a fucking acting role...

Just rewatched this fight for the first time in years and was really impressed by how well this scene holds up. The pace of the fight is so raw, and there's a surprising amount of good technique in there too. Trevelyan gets Bond in a cross collar choke, looks like Bond uses a Whizzer to toss Alec into those metal rods, and all the dirty boxing and the uppercut he threw were really good and rough for that era, where things tended to be more spin-kicky and slo-mo with wide angle shots. Goldeneye has a lot of tight, handheld shots of the action, seems like it helped push the action genre along for sure

The hand-to-hand combat in this scene between 007 and 006 is brutal, and I believe it had to be toned down for the ratings board because originally it was more violent. Such a great intense scene, probably the best fight scene in the entire Bond franchise. Kept it simple, no music, just two trained killers in a room trying to destroy each other. You can see their training incorporates elements of judo, boxing, kung fu, and a few other martial arts disciplines
@joeruiz4010 Жыл бұрын
The fight was indeed toned down. Watch 1:22 to 1:34. That sequence of Bond kneeing 006 in the groin, head-smashing him to the door frame, throwing 006 down a flight of stairs, and shooting him was supposed to be a longer fight sequence. That is a weird complaint as the main villain usually does not have a proper fight with Bond. In Connery's era only 3 of the main villains actually fought Bond: Dr. No, Rosa Klebb, and Emilo Largo. Dr. No wasn't a very challenging fight, Klebb got pinned to wall, and Largo was more of a brawl. Lazenby fought Blofeld in the bobsled. Moore had a brief fight with Dr. Kanaga, a duel with Scaramanga and an axe fight with Zorin on the Golden Gate Bridge. Dalton had a shoot out with Whittaker and briefly dodged Sanchez's machete on a tanker truck. Brosan had his final fight with Trevelyan, a dust up with Renard on the sub, and grappled with Gustave Graves on a plane. Craig fought Dominic Greene in an exploding hotel. While that is a few that still leaves 3 Connery's, 4 Moore's, 1 Brosan, and 2-3 for Craig without a final fight with the main villain.

I'm not kidding, but I saw this on a recorded VHS of Bond dropping Trevelyn. I WAS PROBABLY 8 YEARS OLD and it scared the heck out of me!!!! And I still remember that line: "For England, James?" "No, for me."
@KaosNova22 жыл бұрын
I was like “finally”! Possibly because my fear (I was a similar age, 10 at the time) had been how they filmed Alec beating up Bond. The way the camera was fixed on the fighting made me feel a bit for Bond and how hard Alec was hitting him.

Fun fact: Pierce Brosnan has five children, among which is one of the late Cassandra Harris' three children, whose full name is Sean William Walter Brosnan, who by the time GoldenEye was playing was twelve years old. It is curious to notice that Sean Brosnan is Sean Bean's namesake, and that made me begin to wonder if this child was named after Sean Bean, or if it is pure coincidence.
@lappansommer5462 жыл бұрын
So the boy was born one year before Sean Bean's first listed credit (1984 "The Bill"), when Brosnan was living in California making "Remington Steele". Sean Bean was born six years after Brosnan in a different country and trained as an actor in a different institution (RADA vs Drama Centre London). So most likely a coincidence, and not too surprising that an Irishman would name his son "Sean".
