This is the season that I first started supporting Arsenal and following football regularly week in, week out as a 7 year old. It's also the season that my favourite footballer of all time Cesc Fabregas had his breakthrough season as a 17 year old. Looking forward to this.

I am amazed as Gooner recalling back this team of Arsenal. Exciting football, amazing talents, fancy Arsenal goals so pleasant to watch again and again. This used to be by far the best attacking football in the PL, fastest ever one touch FB, unbelievable understanding between the team. One obvious mistake has never been addressed for fixing...The lack of balance between attack and defense. My beloved Wenger is all to blame. Otherwise, Arsenal then wasn't a team anyone could beat. It was a Pack of Talents: Bergkamp, Viera, Henry, Pires, Gilbert Silva, Edu. RV Persie, Fabregas, Laurent, Ash Cole. Dream team !

Arsenal were in peak of the golden era that began in mid nineties under Arsene Wenger. It was a fitting farewell for Patrick Vieira as he scored the winning penalty in that memorable final against Man Utd at the Millennium Stadium , Cardiff.

Arsenal could have retained our PL title in 04/05. What a team that season, such as Reyes, Bergkamp, Pires, Vieira, Cole, van Persie, Fabegas, Ljunberg, and Henry.

Wenger really had his flaws. After that loss at old trafford, we went on a rough patch. Home draws with Southampton and west brom smh

How many times do you see Pires or Ljungberg in the 6 yard box scoring poacher’s goals. The freedom and chaos of Arsenal front 4 was tactical brilliance by Wenger. Individual quality in the final 3rd wins football games and teams with the best attackers win most titles

I still recall the happy memories of winning the penalty shoot out against Man Utd in the final at Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. I was watching live at our doctors room in Gynae ward during my internship in Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh.

Looking back I feel this season was what set Arsenal up to fall in the following years. Wenger became too complacent and almost arrogant , he didn’t sign any experienced players so the players weren’t pushed and he should of signed a defender and a proper keeper to strengthen the defence

Not sure I would agree with you on replacing Lehmann at this stage/time, but interesting regarding a defender... who would you hypothetically have in mind to sign at the time?

Wenger and the board had an excuse and extenuating circumstance that Arsenal had to spend a lot of money on the new stadium. And you can indeed blame the board a lot for the fact that their transfer policy was not good, but since Wenger certainly had some power vis-à-vis the board, I also blame him for the club's decline after 2005. It took the input of one Mesut Ozil to bring in the necessary silverware after a 10-year trophy drought, we had completely lost touch with the top that way.. But I will never forget Wenger's contribution to the club, especially in the crazy period between 97 and 2005, the football was simply insanely good.

It's so disappointing between 98 and 2005 we won only 3 titles while United won 5 cause our team was much better imo
@oisin56844 ай бұрын
United won 4 in that time, not 5. Chelsea won it in 2005. * We threw the league away in the 02/03 season. Dropped 12 points from an available 21 between games 30-36 & ended up losing the league by 5 points to Utd. Had we won it that year, we'd have had a Double-Double League & Cup winning side, as well as having won 3 Prems in a row to go with that unbeaten season of 03/04. * We also ended up losing the 98/99 Prem by one point after we lost late on away to Leeds in the second last game of the season. United drew away to Blackburn the following evening which left them one point ahead of us going into the last game. Even the GD was level going into the final two games & we were only separated by virtue of goals scored. Who knows how even by holding out for a draw could have possibly altered the outcome of that run in going into the last day? * You can also throw the '99 Cup Semi-Final replay into the mix. Utd went down to 10 men after Keane had been sent off earlier in the game & Bergkamp has his penalty saved in the last minute of normal time. Went on to lose in E.T after Viera misplaced a pass in the middle of the park before Giggs weaved his way through 3 or 4 of our backline (someone should have fouled him before he got into our box) & scored. Fine margins.

@@oisin5684 Yeah bro we bottled the league in 02/03.. We choked a 2-0 lead against Bolton and drew 2-2 then lost to relegation threatened Leeds 3-2 at Highbury
@oisin56844 ай бұрын
@muhammadhameedahmed6619 Yep, even if we'd held out for a 2-1 win v Bolton, it would have put us ahead of Utd on Goals Scored. That result was the first time during the run-in where the title was taken out of our hands. Unforgiveable for a side with that much quality & experience of winning silverware. When you take into account that the two sides were so evenly matched from that 1998-2004 period whereby even the Goal Difference was so tight, when as I've already said, they were only separated by Goals Scored going into the last 2 games of the 98/99 season before we also on that occasion blew an opportunity to retain the title by losing late on to Leeds which afforded Utd the luxury of being able to drop points by drawing to Blackburn to give them a single point advantage going into the final weekend, the rivalry could very easily have ended with a 5-2 League titles majority in favour of Arsenal instead of the 4-3 that we shared in that time in favour of them. As I said, fine margins.

@oisin5684Ай бұрын
@muhammadhameedahmed6619 I know & I'm Irish as well to make it even more sour 🫣. David O'Leary is responsible for the most iconic moment in Irish football history when he scored the winning spot kick in a penalty shoot out v Romania to send Ireland through to the Quarter-Finals of the World Cup in 1990 😢. Mad to think that we only conceded 17 goals in the league that season & still didn't manage to win it.
