Mukesh was a great competition for all rounder Rafi in the 60s. Unfortunately singers like Hemant Kumar, Manna dey also got less work as most songs went to Rafi. Strange thing is some films dominated by Rafi had at least one Mukesh song. Later unlike Singapore, Ujala, Junglee, Sasural, AAS KA PANCHII where Mukesh was present on SJ music, was removed from Hamrahi and Junglee onwards. ALL songs were sung only by Rafi, without any competetion. Mukesh did Kanhaiya, ANADI, Jis DEsh mein very successfully. Dilip Kumar wanted to remove Mukesh from Yahudi, Shankerji insisted to keep ye mera deewanapan hai, and never gave music for any DILIP Kumar films.

मुकेश जी की पुण्यतिथि पर मेरी तरफ से श्रद्धांजली। सही में मुकेश जी एक महान गायक कलाकार थे। उनकी आवाज़ में वो जादू था जो दूसरे गायक कलाकारों में नहीं दिखता। भले ही उन्होंने कम खाना खाएं हो पर जो गाए वो लाज़वाब थे। उनके स्थान की पूर्ति कभी नहीं हो सकती।
