But this is a "vibration speaker." It's not the same thing and listening to your music from speakers. You are feeling or HEARING in thru your body. The review doesn't get it at all. I'm a music theorist and Spiritualist (Roman Catholic by my up-bringing), and I am buying this to look deeper in to my perfect pitch because I already see the notes and color-shapes. So I want to see what this mode of "hearing" will reveal to me as a drone and meditate to specific frequencies. Especially those tuned to A432 Scientific Tuning, and A444, the Shcuman Resonance frequency. This review does not understand the meaning or implication of the technology itself. Therefore he "advises" others not to buy it. What an ass. (Incientally, here is work on these and other music topics on my uTube channel). - kzbin.info/door/QzAv4E_kMLQLpK9vzQYg8Q

I got one recently and I really like it. I had to split out the audio for the vest and run it through a high pass though just to tighten it up but it's made a massive difference for my headphones experience. If you're into DnB there's an album called Wardance from Drumsound and Bassline Smith and they use a bass transducer vest (the SubPac) with headphones. The low end is insanely powerful and tight. Feels incredible with one of these.

@Super-id7bq

@@TryitWa The gaming experience is great so long as you pay a few dollars for the dolby access app in Windows. Then yeah, you'll definitely feel the directionality. I mostly play space games (Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous etc) and it's so insanely immersive. You feel the "thunk" of your countermeasures being deployed, you feel the landing gear raising and lowering, the engines starting up, your afterburner, the weapons firing etc. And explosions are crazy. I was in a fight where I killed a ship right in front of me and I felt the massive hit of the explosion on my right hand side as I flew past when it popped. Movies are something else as well, particularly newer movies where the a lot of mix engineers make much better use of the LFE track for surround or Atmos. Watching Godzilla vs Kong with it was loads of fun! It's actually opened my eyes to using the sub more for feeling in the club too. Like adding haptics to tracks to add a whole other dimension to them.

I have the SubPac, seated version and I have to say it is the best experience I have had. There is also a wearable version. It definitely would be the tactile feel you are expecting and would probably enjoy a lot more than this. Frequency range is really wide, and you can adjust the intensity on it to your liking. I have one of their first versions, they are in the process of releasing a new one this year early next year. I am a music producer and I been using this in my setup since mid 2000's and it allows me to make music, mix it and master it accurately, and that music is on all streaming platforms now and doing fairly well. At the same time, I do finish the final work on my studio monitors, as I also have a sub-woofer in the chain that being said, it is great to watch movies at night and play those games where you would want to feel the action. It was definitely worth it for me for my type of usage.

Did you use "Focus Mode" on the vest? because it solves almost all the issues your bringing up. its in Broad Mode by default, focus mode uses the bottom two , middle two, and top two with separate frequencies, lower + deeper. Also helps to EQ it with Voicemeeter or something of the like, thats what I do, dont get me wrong, out of the box I was not impressed, but focus mode and fiddling changed that. totally worth it second hand if you can find one cheap. Its by no means meant for true audiophiles or musicians though.. But it honestly sounds like you had the device in Broad mode

It will definitely make a change for the better in your music listening experience!" Thank you for this review. I ordered the new Subpac over a year ago and they still don't have a release date in sight. My buddy has the old one (it's what got me so obsessed with getting one myself) and it's a really awesome product but unfortunately way too uncomfortable. I got tired of waiting and got the Woojer in the end and it's been great. With a little EQ it feels more or less the same experience as the subpac but I also have the transducers on the front. I generally just lean back against it though and only really use it as a vest when playing VR. The coolest thing I've done with it recently was watch Godzilla vs Kong. Man what an experience!

This is an alright review if one only wants to consider the Woojer vest’s technical capability in sound frequency playback as someone isolates different wavelengths on a computer to test it’s capability that way. But I’m not real sure how that’s conducive for the actual applications this vest shines at…as creating a sensation of pulse and vibration to enhance sound is more it’s specialty, not actually emitting sound. It’s something you have to experience yourself when the vest is set up properly with it’s sound input correct..and trying to explain it really doesn’t do it any justice. So apologies to this reviewer, but I cannot agree with this review of the Woojer vest at all, as my experience is completely different and I would recommend one to anyone in a heartbeat. Especially to those that desire a step forward in video game or movie immersion. I won’t exaggerate and say that it’s “next level crazy like you can’t believe” or anything over the top like that.. It is however, a pretty incredible experience to wear one and have it enhance a person’s audio-visual entertainment in my opinion. The haptic vest is, in actuality, a fairly simple concept that includes several small speakers built into it that specialize in a sort of pulse-type vibration that adds sensation to sound. To keep expectations realistic, it’s important to understand that it’s not some crazy device that adds complex sensations to the body..but rather that it adds a sort of depth and dimension to the sounds in your favorite entertainment that will leave you missing it when you aren’t wearing it, and looking forward to wearing it at the next opportunity that you get to. At least that’s my experience with it. I also found that, despite the differing experience in this review, if the right settings are used and the Woojer vest is used with proper input volume levels, using it with music is pretty amazing too. This review makes it seem like the vest is dull and similar to a distorting subwoofer or speaker with no crisp or defining pulses.. This has not been my experience at all. Again, if the Woojer vest is set up correctly (and it has to be set up correctly to work well) the base notes are crisp and hit fairly hard and focused when using any sort of sound input, including listening to music. And when playing video games, watching movies or experiencing VR, it adds a level of high quality immersion that one would find difficult to replace with anything else. There are two modes in which you can select what dominant frequencies you prefer the vest’s haptics to focus on. The two “modes” are Focus and Broad. I’m wondering if there was a chance the vest was on the “Focus” mode for this review. The two modes are not talked about at all here and I find that there is a significant difference between the two. You can select either one by holding in the vest’s volume up and volume down buttons simultaneously for 6 seconds. And depending on which mode is used for which application, it can really mean a world of difference in how the vest performs with any specific type of sound input. Weather it be for VR & video games, music, cinema/movies, etc. It is also important to have the input volume that’s connected to the vest, at max, or as close to it as possible without causing the vest to distort. There can be a fine line here and a person perhaps has to tweak volume input settings to find that sweet spot. The instructions that come with the vest emphasize this. Personally, I would recommend a Woojer vest to anyone that’s even remotely interested in a boost to audio immersion. I bought mine on sale on the Woojer website which added to the satisfaction of my purchase. I would recommend trying to find a sale in which to buy one as well because I’ll be the first to admit that they are a little on the pricey side for what you are getting. And that’s not to say that the vest is cheaply made or “not worth it” or anything like that. Only that, for the full price of the vest, it costs more than many high quality sets of headphones do and you’re buying an “enhancer” for audio, not something that actually plays a full spectrum of audio. That being said, it is an amazing piece of equipment to enhance the immersion in a person’s favorite audio related activities/entertainment. Again, I don’t mean to beat the same drum over and over, but I believe it is paramount that the Woojer vest is set up properly and that the appropriate mode is used for the appropriately desired audio input. I really do enjoy mine and hope that there aren’t too many that were completely turned off of the idea of purchasing a Woojer by this review because the opinions and “facts” reflected here are nothing like the experience I’ve had with my Woojer vest so far. I would buy one again in a heart beat. Again, if you’re thinking of buying one, watch for the company to offer them on sale, as I’m sure it’ll leave you that much more satisfied with your purchase. Or, if nothing more, perhaps getting a deal on one will help purchase the accessory kit (which comes with an extended 3.5mm audio cable/headphone cord to help with mobility, and a washable cover for your vest) which is a smart purchase to protect and enhance your new toy in my opinion. And that’s my two cents on the Woojer! I hope it helps some that are considering the idea of buying one, to at least try one out that’s set up and working proper before discarding the idea of having one completely.👍🏻

I wish I had seen this review BEFORE I purchased my Woojer Vest. I got mine for Christmas 2021 to be used on my PS5 with PSVR (gen. 2) system. I keep thinking that maybe I just haven’t found the right game yet, but so far, I’ve been underwhelmed by everything I’ve tried, including Beat Sabres. So yes, it rumbles in the background, but it just feels like speaker vibrations, and they don’t feel synchronized to the music, but rather, they just seem to be rumbling in the background. I still haven’t tried it in a shooter game, so maybe there’s still hope there. Also, I tried connecting them with a Bluetooth dongle in order to remove the audio wire, which initially worked, but the second I turn on my VR headset, the PS5 takes over and disables the dongle, so I’m forced to use the audio wire. Needless to say, I’ve got a few choice words to share with Santa next year when I see him in the mall again :) NOTE: It’s been 3+ months since I wrote this comment, and I now see things slightly differently; please see my update 3 entries below. Have you tried adjusting the settings? One setting does not work with everything! Just like you can't just crank up a subwoofer and amp in a car and leave it because it will just rattle and no actual music is heard! I know this from personal experience when riding in other people's cars.
@Neo.Picard
@Neo.Picard 2 жыл бұрын
@@chrystalteal4171 Well, it’s 3 + months now, and I’ve been using my vest almost daily. So, yes, I’ve made all the adjustment as described by the manufacturer, including using it in both modes that you can toggle between. Bottom line, my opinion is somewhat different now: - They still don’t provide the experience that I was expecting, BUT, I’ve grown to like them more & more over time. I was expecting a more specific, direct feeling, such as sensing someone touching me or having a bullet hit me. That’s just not how they work. It’s very much as I said above; it’s just a feeling of deep rumbling like that of the base from a speaker. They work REALLY well when a VR game has a heartbeat sound because the base beats in your chest at the same speed. And, they’re good at amplifying the ambiance of the situation. I guess I really noticed the difference when one day, about 1 or 2 months after using it daily, when I was in a rush, so I didn’t bother using my vest that day… wow, I noticed a big difference - a whole dimension to my VR experience was missing. - So, I’m now happy with my vest, now that I’ve accepted it for what it is. It’s just not the “blow your mind” experience as portrayed in the commercials.

I've been seeing ads on YT for this thing for months, it's always just a public demo where they put the suit on someone without telling them what it is or what it does and recording their surprised initial reaction, like that translates to "this is a good product." No, it's a surprising product, at best.

I finally found your video and it was exactly what I was looking for. The Woojer vest is VERY expensive as a luxury purchase but I'd be willing to pay the money if it really enhanced my movie and video gaming and VR experience. It's clear from your video, it would be a disappointing buy. I do think this tech is in its infancy and will be perfected over time. We'll probably see cheaper and better versions produced by larger electronic companies as time goes on - perhaps Woojer will be purchased and their tech integrated into better products.

I bought a vest for use in video games. My number 1 complaint is that it hurts my lower back to wear this sitting on my couch. The curve of my back is not supported. I am average height at 5' 10", and it feels like it was made for a kid. The feedback in games is good. However, a bass shaker under the seat is more powerful (it's great). We got a new couch and I lost my bass shakers. My wife didn't want me to add them to the new couch. So, I got this as an alternative. It is not bad enough for me to send it back, but it gets 3 out of 5 stars.

this is a great purchase if you have devices that utilize a 3.5mm jack. I bought the vest not considering that 90% of my devices are all bluetooth. I can't run the woojer vest AND play audio simultaneously via bluetooth without the use of a bluetooth receiver. Because honestly, all those wires are cumbersome. Connecting to XBOX works as it should. Hopefully you have a controller with the 3.5mm jack like I did. I turned on Burnout Revenge and the vest is awesome. I also have my Soundbar connected to the back of my xbox and I could hear the game sound and the vest respond to the sound simultaneously. 100% perfection Connecting to my PC was a hassle. I didn't have a way to split the audio so that I can actually hear it and not just feel it. I don't have any wired ear-phones (bluetooth). Love the concept, hate the limitation.

Thank you so much for the review I was just getting ready to order this becouse I previously ordered the single speaker that goes around your waist and it worked well for motorcycle riding, but all of a sudden it just stopped working. The great thing about the single speaker is that it really amplifies the sound, turning a cheap pair of headphones into a very loud pair. But you are right, the bass does seem a bit off. I just came across this review and found it interesting, but a bit limited. I will at least say that your milage will definitely vary with this vest, but your choice of source material and expectations will make a huge difference in your opinion of it. The thing to keep in mind is that this is not a subwoofer replacement, it is an effects vest first and foremost. It is not a subtle/musical device for the audiophile, but physical and more like a ride experience. And this is why it is best suited for very select kinds of music, blockbuster type movies, video games, and my personal favorite, VR. Can it rumble? Yup, potently. But as another reviewer suggested, you don't need to always run this thing at full. It can sometimes be better at much lower intensities so that it is more of an occasional supplement than a constant presence, but the volume/intensity controls are at your fingertips, so its easy to adjust to taste. I'll also say that for best results you must run this with the source audio at 100% volume (digital or analog line level) and must run your high quality headphones plugged into the vest (with the volume of both controlled by the vest), otherwise sync will be off and it will seem muddy. It's not clear from the review whether this was done. Anyway, if you were buying this to listen to a Hans Zimmer score, yeah, that's probably not going to be much of an enhancement (so the reviewer isn't wrong here); but if you're watching a blockbuster movie with Dolby Atmos soundtrack, or playing a VR shooter, or listening to Castellucci's Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold, you may be catching your breath afterwards.

FALSE CLAIMS! - I appreciate the review, and that's fine if, for example, you are not satisfied that the newer Woojer doesn't give you as good of a bodily bass sensation, but you are comparing two ENTIRELY different things. Just because you are not "feeling it" doesn't meat that this is hpye. This is new technology, and a different way to "hear" music. We are experiencing a "vibration speaker" pressed against our flesh-an-bone. You are feeling, almost HEARING the sound thru your body. The reviewer doesn't get it at all. I'm a music theorist and Spiritualist (Roman Catholic by my up-bringing), and I am buying this haptic-system to look deeper in to my perfect pitch because I already see the notes and color-shapes. I want to see what this mode of "hearing" will reveal to me as a drone and meditate to specific frequencies. Especially those tuned to A432 Scientific Tuning, and A444, the Shcuman Resonance frequency. This review does not understand the meaning or implication of the technology itself. Therefore he "advises" others not to buy it. What an ass. (Incientally, here is my uTube channel explaning this and such other audiotry topics). - kzbin.info/door/QzAv4E_kMLQLpK9vzQYg8Q

Thought this kind of missed the point. If someone could have a subwoofer, then getting the Woojer vest wouldn’t be of interest anyway. A subwoofer creates issues when living in close proximity to others. The Woojer vest offers an alternative for those unable to be blasting a subwoofer. Much of the same reason we use headphones, to have a portable alternative that doesn’t disturb others. Although I will concede that we can get the high end audio from headphones that can simulate a room full of high end speakers. And while not a perfect solution, I would find it hard to believe that a vest could replace a full body experience that we would get get from a good subwoofer anyway. But I at least agree that this isn’t a ideal option for music listening. I personally use it for gaming and vr and it adds a whole new level of immersion that I didn’t experience before.

@GoldenSound Did you use focused mode or broad mode on the vest? This is pure sub-bass mode, with a frequency response of up to 100hz. Are the frequency response issues still there? I guess if you didn't have sub-bass mode it's because you were on an old firmware. The frequency response thing also seems something that might be addressable with a firmware update. I am asking because I don't want to wait for the new subpac but really need something to help me with preparing music for dj sets and I thought it may also help with producing and mixing sub bass. I was sold on it but if the frequency curve is like that I don't really want one.

TL;DR - you're using it wrong. You're using the device in "Broad Mode." Set it to "Focused Mode" (build-in crossover) by holding the left/right arrows together for a few seconds until the device reports back "Focused Mode." (This needs done on each power-on). Then set your source volume to just below where the headphones distort, then raise your bass/headphone volume, and you'll see what the hype is about. FULL WRITE-UP: NOOOOOOOOOO. Like I tell everyone who isn't BLOWN...AWAY....by this (including the guy who sold me mine), you.....are.....using.....it.....wrong. It DOES play low end bass (lower than my $500/500watt 12" AudioMobile 2412 D4 subwoofers), and it is AWESOME for EVERYTHING. Music, movies, gaming, anything involving a sound experience. The reason you're not feeling low-end bass is because you need to set it to FOCUSED MODE (unfortunately on each power-on), by holding the left/right arrows together for a few seconds, until the device reports back "Focused Mode." And THEN you will feel punchy, gut-mashing bass below 200Hz. Otherwise yes, you're right, all you'll feel is rumbly, disconnected, 200Hz+ mid-bass. That's called "broad mode." I'm a music freak, and own all Woojer products, so it breaks my heart when people misjudge these products and steer people away. You're right, the DAC is a bit cumbersome to use (maybe that's remedied in their v3 release this year (2022), and the line-in gives much better bass response than bluetooth connections. Always recharge it after using for a long session, make sure to match your input signals correctly with the device volume (this is very important, or you risk feeling underwhelmed), and you will have the time of your life with this thing. Raise your source volume to just before the headphones start distorting, then raise the bass/volume on the device. I've shown this to probably a dozen people by now, and the only people who didn't LOVE it were 2 introverts, who were put-off by feeling like they were on display. My mother, who once told me to turn down Sarah McClachlan (because it was too loud, lol), literally cried tears of joy and told me to turn this up as loud as it could go (which is LOOOUUD) when I played live recordings of songs from her youth. My cousin doubled over in hysterical laughter when I played Cher live for her. I've used this (on bluetooth to my friend's TV playing a PS4 fighting game), and it was insane how much you're THERE. I work from home, and have repeatedly worn this all day for ~8 hours. The vest could be considered a little stiff, but it's WELL worth it. The v3 release is thinner, but I haven't received mine yet to compare. The biggest complaint I (had) was the transducers rattling when the bass is high enough, but funny enough, last night (12/1/2022) I learned that if the chest straps are pulled down tight enough, the rattling drastically reduces, if not completely. I've learned (for me, anyway) that the best fit isn't what the instructions say. I first do the belly strap, then pull the horizontal chest strap as tight as it gets, and THEN pull the vertical straps very tight. The hype is real, people. Unfortunately MANY people use these products wrong, and are disappointed. If you still own this, you owe it to yourself to give it another go. Also (here I go...that's how passionate I am about people having a good experience with this/music), PLEASE try to use the highest quality content that you can. If you're playing a compressed 128 kbps mp3 through this, you risk losing punchy bass right from the start, and FORGET about any kind of headphone quality. One of my favorite demo tracks is "FKA twigs - Give Up." Use this thing right, and you'll never complain about it again. Have a great day. 🙂

and you're right about wearing it a certain way, the v1 belt has to be just right and there's way more punch, but it becomes sort of a pain to keep it there being it has a front/back transducer. I could add some grippy/rubbery tape or something to it though.

You will always have a better experience with analog. Whether it's a normal voice speaker or a subwoofer, they all just run on the basic principle of power in the sense that the sound coming out is basically just electricity waves and will sound better if it is hooked directly to the source of the power whether it's a radio, phone, etc. Also I just noticed that unlike a typical subwoofer, these devices don't separate the signal into low vs. mid/high like a subwoofer.

Watching their expressions and reactions when something blows up behind them is insane. I plan on borrowing one so I can see how Dead by Daylight is like with a Woojer! (Not looking forward to being put on the hook and feeling the bass in my back as the hook rips through my back and chest, might really creep me out but I am super stoked!) These were Easter presents for my kids and an anniversary present for my husband. I bought refurbished because they were cheaper and still guaranteed! $99 for the belts and $299 for the vest. Ordered 4/5/22 and arrived 4/10/22

I think this was designed for games, that is where you would want to have an elevated experience, gun shot, explosions. I personally am not interested in using for music. But thanks for the review,, I'll wait till they are super cheap to try.

interesting concept, I ride a motorcycle and i could possibly see myself trying this vest out but it seems it needs improvement, so i'll stick with my bluetooth helmet speakers for now. Thanks for the review.

So basically, It’s still rather new technology & needs time for other companies/or itself to improve. As well as game developers to create specific features within their games for this technology (like ps5’s haptic feedback)

my teenage boys have the belt and my husband has the vest. Woojer has changed their entire gaming and music experience! My husband can feel the heartbeat from the game Metro. At one point he took the vest off to see if his heart was actually pounding and said it is an incredible experience! Pretty much. I bought one through the Indiegogo program last year. Tried it with both music and Gaming. Really feeble. Basically I paid £400+ for a small speaker in an ill fitting jacket. Would have been MUCH better off sitting on a large sub woofer!

Yeah, no. These rumbly bass shaker phones gave me the idea and feeling, and no way it is worthy substitute for tactile response of some serious drivers.
