As always, Leporello and you are charming. My conure isn't nearly as patient as Leporello. He'll start preening my eyebrows and eyelashes and if that doesn't work he'll just jump on my face. Sometimes when I nap I have to cover my head with a sheet.

Another great video! In some of your bird taming tutorials, you have a step-by-step process on taming your bird. Where does free-flight training fit in that process?
@leporellothegoldfinch6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Free fligh should start fairly early in my opinion, as soon as your bird is comfortable around your presence next to their cage.

Hello !! I have a question. I just got my budgue yesterday and he's completely scared of me. I want to open the cage and allow him to fly around, but I'm afraid he'd be too scared to get back in. Honestly I just want him to be as healthy as possible !! Should I let him out now or after he trusts me ?
@leporellothegoldfinch6 жыл бұрын
Hi there, definitely only let him out AFTER he trusts you! I suggest you start with this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mojIoHSpd8mCfNE Good news, budgies are bred to be easy to tame, so it should only take a week until he's ready.

Lol I love this channel and your videos! Btw a really funny video! Lol I’m trying to tame a male canary but he keeps on flying away from me. Eventually he ate from my hand but he is really afraid to sit on my hand. What can I do to make him not afraid of me and to sit on my hand and eat a treat?
@soybean16106 жыл бұрын
Hello there! I have a few problems that I’d like to ask advice about.. if that’s okay. I recently got a budgie and started training on the first day, because a friend did this and her relationship with her budgie went fine. I decided to try. A week later, and I feel as though Tony (the bird) dislikes me. He practically doesn’t move when I’m around. He will step up onto my hand, though, and he cuddles in my jacket with me. Is this a good sign?

I will get a finch this weekend. You video inspire me. I don't know which finch to get.
@leporellothegoldfinch6 жыл бұрын
Hi there, congratulations! If I may give a word of advice - if you get finches, please get two, they generally can't be kept alone or they will suffer and die. Leporello is an exception because he can't be socialised, but in general finches need their flock or at least one other of their own species. Also, if you've never had a bird before, maybe another type of bird would be better; finches are quite difficult to tame compared to other birds. Hope this helps!

Thank you. I got Leporello at around five or six weeks old. He came from captivity, but wasn't hand-fed, and was very wild at first. Over time he mellowed out.

Hi there. something I always wonder is do they know we are asleep? I say yes. When my Goldie is out of his cage and Im on the sofa watching TV and happen to dose off I always wake up to find that he has took all the treats I usually give him one by one. Then I feel I was outsmarted... Nice name to the Vid by the way..
@leporellothegoldfinch6 жыл бұрын
Aw, Gigi is such a clever cookie, pinching all the treats! - I think you're right, birds know that we're asleep. When I lie down for a nap on the sofa in the afternoon, Leporello usually joins me and starts napping, too.

@@leporellothegoldfinch -Something happened and I almost lost my little Gigi. Thank God I didn't though. Yesterday morning (Friday) I woke up and switched a small light in the room that Gigi is in. I did not see him on his perch so I went for a closer look and he was on the bottom of his cage with wing feathers all over the cage. He went back on his perch and was breathing normally but confused. At the time I did not understand the reason.. but when I went to my PC and tuned in to my social media account I quickly realised what happened. An earthquake took place near Greece, in the middle of the night. In Malta just a 4 second tremor was felt, but it was enough to wake up Gigi and give him a big night fright. During the day there is a page on Facebook with people who have songbirds who were posting photos of dead birds (mainly Greenfinches) with feathers scattered everywhere. And with the posts of these people came the comments down below. It happened to so, so many birds. Funnily enough when I talked to my Mum nothing happened to her canary. It could be the years of domesticatian and no more wild insticts left. Although just two rooms away I did not here Gigi flutter or feel the tremor.. He is eating ok and is almost normal but he lost 14, yes 14 wing feathers. I am not going to let him out of his cage cos I doubt he can fly and I do not want him to have a crash and get injured. I will give him a bit more egg yolk then normal for protein, and a bit more sunflower seed and brocolli. For the added vitamins. Thats my story. Cant wait for him to recover..
@leporellothegoldfinch6 жыл бұрын
Oh my God, that sounds horrible!!! I have never heard of such a thing, but then again this part of the world hasn't seen earthquakes for a long time. I wonder what happened to these birds? Might be stress-induced circulatory collapse... - Whatever the reason, I'm glad Gigi is alive and well! Protein and broccoli certainly sound like good ideas, as would any other food be that offers entertainment in his cage. Perhaps you can find the mineral/vitamin "Nekton-S" online, it's a supplement that I've heard quite a few breeders and vets rave about (I use it, too) - it's given to help regrow feathers and to support a bird's stress resistance in general. Hope Gigi recovers soon!!
@Blazemalta6 жыл бұрын
@@leporellothegoldfinch -Thanks for your concern. Gigi is ok.. eating like a little pig and singing. The singing is a sign he is on the right track. Even my cousin had some birds in an aviary and they went bonkers.. he heard them fluttering and switched on some lights and calmed them down. Since birds have a broader hearing range then us it is most probable that this tremor emmitted a noise that scared the birds.. like a deep "mmmmmmmm" that we cannot hear.I doubt it was the shaking that scared them. Thanks for the vitamin suggestion but I really dont like adding stuff to his water. I give him the best food possible and keep his cage and water as clean as I can. I did let him out ofhis cage to hop around on the sofa but he did'nt like the situation and went back in his cage. He can't fly... not even in a straight line, let alone upwards. So Gigi has till around Christmas in his cage. And I will miss him not being on my shoulder!!!
