Smoke screen (tick), bullet shield (tick), ejector seat (tick). Bond uses some of the gadgets on his Aston Martin DB5 in GOLDFINGER (1964). Production received just one prototype DB5 to kit out with all of the gadgets. Special effects supervisor John Stears remembers the first thing he did was make the hole for the ejector seat, “I marked it out, and taped off the roof of this beautiful car. I looked at it, went away and had a cup of coffee, came back, and got the drill, and drilled the hole. It was terrifying.”

I saw this movie in theater and that part was not cut out. You can actually see Bond drive the car into wall. I was only 10 years old and to me it made no sense. Wow!! I was just saying the same thing to myself when I watched this scene. And Bullitt happens to be one of my favorite films of all time. And my number one favorite film is Enter the Dragon. I drive a 2014 gun metal grey MX 5 ND. A ten second car. Every time I drive it I'm in a Bond movie. When people see it they ask. Does it have machine guns behind the fog lights? The license plate reads 009. Couldn't love it more.

That line was completely unnecessary and ruined the subtlety of the moment, Bond just hovering his thumb over the ejector would've been enough for even the most casual viewer.

I wanna see the scene where Bond arrives at the factory, observes it from the hill in the woods, and then snoops around the factory at night

Vicrum For me this scene is very special because I personally went to Bond‘s observing spot in the woods on the hill and sat down in the exact same spot kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmKQh5yKpJyCqa8

Davider I’ve just noticed too that the film makes you think he’s gone to that open green area he looks up to whilst one the car. But when you see him he looks at the factory much closer and from the left of it. 🤔🤔🤔 wonder why they did that...

Bond can’t be all that smart. About 400 rounds were shot at his car before he remembers he has a bullet proof rear screen. He also has rearward facing machine guns (if memory serves me) but he apparently chooses to run off the road and use a pistol to return fire.

Guy Hamilton delivered a masterpiece with "Goldfinger", but he was never able to do action at all; it's always played for the laughs - yet unlike with some other directors, you actually do laugh. So I don't mind it too much. But it's quite laughable if you try to take it semi-seriously.
